Making a Mandalorian Helmet from Star Wars

For all my Star Wars fans out there, I thought I would make a Mandalorian Helmet, and while I am at it, upload you a free template so you can make your own. In this build I used: 10 mm, 6 mm, and 2mm EVA, a small piece of a hanger wire, a Hobart face shield replacement visor ( check my Amazon Affiliates link below) some 1/8 inch styrene, toothpaste, contact cement, super glue, plasti dip, spray paint and some acrylics. Instead of having to put a plug in thew middle in the front. Youd been better off putting the seam in the back where it wouldve been covered over by the back vent.

I can't express how appreciative I am for these tutorials and free templates. I made myself the Casey Jones mask for 2023 NYCC and had tons of people stop me and ask for a picture. My son just got heavily into Star Wars. Watched every movie and cartoon over the last couple months so I'm going to make this for him as a special Christmas present, much better than the cardboard box he's been walking around the house wearing. The template is scaled yo fit my head, which is 24 inches around

Any tips for size adjustments, or modifications if the base was 6mm instead of 10?

shouldn't have to make to many adjustments. Maybe reduce the size by one or two percent to compensate for the decrease in foam thickness.

You can head out to the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club website (mandalorianmercs.com) and get tutorials and patterns for your own custom Mando. The tutorial that I like the best is called the "Bucket" bucket because it uses a pair of 5 gal project buckets from either Home Depot or Lowe's (or other appropriate big box hardware store) and either a skateboard helmet or hard hat for the dome.

Sorry you're not a fan of my Fortnite builds. When 90% of my requests are Fortnite related, and 22 of my top 25 videos in views are Fortnite, got to give people what they ask for. Tuesday builds will continue to show some variety. I will try and make more helmets from other games/movies/shows.

“Nowhere near 100% accurate” it looks like an actual prop from the movie. Plus your color scheme reminds me of the space marines from warhammer 40k. Could you also make a phase 1 clone trooper helmet plz.

Those Star Wars fanatics could pick apart almost every part of this build. I make my props by eye most of the time, not by measuring screen shots. I really liked this build and the paint scheme. I have been looking at other helmets from the movies and made a short list. They are all just so good.

Another good idea my buddy does and claims works great is using vaseline over tooth paste for the damaged areas. It's easier to clean than the toothpaste.

I've seen it used also. Pretty much any gel like substance could work I would imagine. I like using toothpaste, because it doesn't leave a greasy feel and leaves my prop smelling minty fresh.😁

Almost all of the builds I make are directly for peoples requests. Over 300 on my list. Just takes me time to get to them. Glad you liked it and hopefully that brief templating section helps.

Almost every template I make adds an extra 4 hours or so to the build. And a lot of those builds I could make without using a template.I'm glad that someone sees all the time I spend trying to make it easier for others. Thanks for making a part of your daily view time.
