I wish my 6" vices were more narrow so there could be a little more room for the tool setter but Oh-well. I just have to remember to set tools bigger than 1" OD manually
@@HuskyMachining Their is a possible way to get your Vices closer together ? Mill each bolt tang to half it's size. Enough to allow for 1 retaining bolt to clamp both vices. You should be able to pick up a fair amount of space by doing this.
@@travisc8293 I have not gotten around to this yet but I was just going to mill off the center bolt taps and use one bolt and a large washer to hold both vises inner bolt. All I need is 0.500" milled off each then I will be able to use the WIPs to measure the largest tool I use (3" od)
Very Nice part. Always thought it would be Good to have a separate Mill and mount a Trunnion on that machine permanently. I am guessing at one point you had one Mill and you were setting up and removing the Trunnion endlessly, which would be a pain for sure ?? Seems i remember reading a comment on another channel that you now own 2 Mills. Which might have something to do with 2 different set ups in this video. Good to see you posting a memory of your favorite Husky. 👍
thanks, I stopped posting videos abput 2 months ago when my dog died as it zapped all my motivation to do anything but work. And yes, I started my job shop 2 years ago with just the 1 vf2. A year later I bought a st10 (I really wanted to learn how to use a cnc lathe) but that machine has been used 3 times in the last year of me owning it so it wasn't a great investment for the buisness but damn is turning fun. And your totally right, the last 2 years of having to take the 450kg trunnion on and off for simple large 3 axis jobs has been super annoying and why I have been saving up all year for a 2nd mill spindle. I have only made 3 parts on the new to me vf1 but I forgot how much I like making simple 3 axis parts. Now if only insurance would hurry up and pay the haas people to repair all the shipping damage (thankfully the haas tech said all the damage is repairable).
@@HuskyMachining Shipping Insurance Companies 🙄 They Always take their time to process claims. A bit of a pain to have a brand new machine damaged. A friend had a something Bad, something Good happen in regards to an Insurance Claim on a pair of machines. He was just setting up his shop and purchased a Good Second Hand CNC Mill and Lathe from a company in another State. The truck transporting the 2 machines was involved in a bad accident and both machines were damaged. The Insurance Company took forever to process the claim. In the mean time he still needed to make parts ?? He managed to be able to machine his parts at another friends shop until the money came through to replace the lost machines. He started making good money from the parts he was producing so decided to possibly look at buying some new machines instead, of go Second Hand again The end result was a brand new Mazak Integrex. Definitely a Good end result. If not for the Insurance Company taking it's time to settle the claim he might have just purchased similar machines again.
How close do you want the tool probe to the vice? Yes. Sorry, for your lost. I always have tears in my eyes, only thinking about my dog will verry probably go bevore me.
@@HuskyMachining Reminds me why i don't have a Dog anymore. It's difficult to just simply for forget about them after they're gone. It's something only a Dog person could understand. 👍
