Nice one, Phill. I've been thinking of making that for quite some time now. This has given me that push

I keep a rag in a small metal box with a hinge. Then pour Ballistol over the rag. The loose rag allows me to access tighter areas. I like this method too since it would be very convenient for flat surfaces.

Hi Phill, good video ,I made one of these about 2-3 year ago I used a half sized baked beans can and use old socks, I just stuffed the socks in side one another to bulge it out and use a flat screwdriver to help it in. I use 10w/40 engine oil mixed with a little lighter petrol ,oil alone is a bit thick ,and I do what you do with your oil can wipe iron work surfaces planes chisels hand saws. I'm glad you made a video on this it is a good idea. catch you soon Take care👍👍

What do you clean your tools with before you oil them?

Yeah, that looked like too good a tea towel, to me. I like the sock idea - maybe just use scraps of whatever I have inside one or two old socks.

Cheers Shaun. I never thought about using old socks. Good idea that! I was thinking of using some engine old thinned down with some white spirit actually ( once my little oil pot has ran out).

@@hermanhale9258 I just asked my mom if she had any old tea towels and that's what she gave me.

Thanks Phill, yes this is a great addition to any workshop, Ive been using one for a few years, inspired by Paul Sellers and I don't know how I did without it, any light Oil such as 3 in 1 is ideal for this purpose ! That tea-towel was a perfect fit for the corn can !

I've heard rags sometimes self ignite. doesn't this create a fire hazard?

I have not experienced this myself.
