In this video I make a large 165mm 3 piece jointed wakebait. There were a heap of hours put into this one, and I am aiming at making resin copies of this in the future. So keep an eye out for when you can get your hands on these bad boys.

What size and diameter eye screws are you using for hook hangers? Nice looking rat

hey mate, thanks. I think I used around 8mm diameter and 2mm thick screw eyes on this one. Its a big lure

What kind of wood do you use?

This was before when I was still a noob and was using pine. But pine is not a good wood to use.. I primarily use jelutong, camphor or western red cedar now which are much better suited

Hey Les just found your videos also looked up the webpage. Loved watching the creative process. Been trying to make some for a while now. Might have to watch more of your videos for inspiration 😃 do you finish with a clear coat on your lures?

Hey mate, thanks heaps for taking the time. Ok, awesome. I learnt from watching RU-vid videos too lol I sure do mate. I generally use alumilite uv clear or a good 2k auto clear. But if your just starting out and only doing acouple at a time, a 30min epoxy works well

@@pitbullcustomlures1917 I will have to see what The uncle uses for his finish. I know my Qantas plane cost me a lot of frustration whatever detail I had put on the finish would then destroy it making it run. It’s always been a mystery to me.. I can design, carve, prime then paint but my finish has screwed me lol

@@paullobwein1632 I seen the Qantas plane, nice job. Ive struggled a fair bit with clear coats myself.. I know alot of the older lure maker use norglass which I wouldn't mind trying out
