Getting ready to try this myself. I'm always amazed at the way you build in the air, wrassle with tape, and glue your fingers to the plane but still get awesome results. Laser cutter, indeed!
Hello, dear Josh, please tell me why you use liquids asseton in the construction of this tubular body or in the previous videos in covering tisso the body using it.
23:25 A 10-milliliter pipette will make that job easier and neater. What thickness balsa did you use? It looks greater than 1/32". I got an old, _cotton_ bed sheet and tore it into strips about 1 1/2" wide. Instead of any kind of tape, I bind wet balsa parts (fuselage tubes, propeller blanks, etc.) onto the form with the cloth strips. If it is 100% cotton, it takes the oven heat without issue and there is never any concern for tape residue. It's also re-usable.
Don't understand why didn't you use an cloth iron and steam a bit that wood?? also you could have use rubber bands to hold it before you put tape?? May be?? Please understand.. beside of basic engineering knowledge I don't know any thin else please don't get angry at me if any of my thought are wrong...
That's a good idea, and if I'd had fabric on hand I probably would have tried it. I don't recommend using rubber bands though as they have a tendency to leave imprints on the wood.
I"m knew at covering free flight models I've looked and looked but I can't find anywhere to buy the light weight shrink film for covering my models, I do not like any of the tissue covering's. PLEASE PLEASE POST WHERE TO BUY THIS. email me if you can't post it. send to melvonnar@yahoo.com thank you
I'd really like to build something like this, and then cheat with rc and an electric motor - sort of old-timer looks F5J.. anyonw know about geared outrunners, giant folding propellers and such ? Gonna get myself a pool queue..not for tryouts ..
Get a low kv quad motor in the 1000-1500 kv range and you should be able to swing a 10" prop on 2s. I recommend the GM F5J direct drive props for that type of installation.
