Thanks foe the comments Terry. I put a sort video when I think that I have something interesting or useful to share. My next one will probably be an Excel sheet showing how to determine max and safe turns per inch for rubber motors. I've written the sheet, but am in the process of testing it at competitions.

Hello Tom, Thankyou very much for your kind words. It's nice to know that my efforts are appreciated, although I was a bit put out by the comments made by Rih A where he said that the quality varied. I will reply to him. Regards Spencer Willis

Spencer Willis kits are top notch. He also does custom propellers that are the best. This P30 is very competitive, and not just a beginners model. I have recently bought the very cheap BMK radio dt. Faultless so far and ideal for competition or flying in a restricted area like a park or Old Warden.

Thanks Jim. I have installed a button damper DT which gives up to about 6 mins after a bit of fiddling with different spring strengths/lengths. The damper is the same button kind used to damp kitchen unit drawers (ACE FRT-E2-100 +50°C 0°C 10, Tooth 6mm, P.C.D 0.1±0.05Ncm). I adapt a rubber prop nose bobbin as the drum.

Thanks for the comments. The Model is finished apart from waitng for some nylon filament for the DT line. The model came out at 45gm (without rubber) which is a touch heavier than the 40gm requirement in the rules, but I want it for general small field flying and therefore robust. It would probably still be competitive with some decent rubber, so could be entered in BMFA competitions. looks very straight (no unintended warps), so should be straightforward to trim. Will add at least a photo once it is complete. Then hopefully a flight video given a suitable first trim day! People like Spencer Willis and Mike Woodhouse help to keep free flight flying alive in this ever digital world. I try to do the same by co-running indoor meetings ( www.creativesweb.co.uk/norwind ). We have been shut down since March 2020, but will hopeffully be back by September 2021

I ordered this kit to myself and some juniors aswell. They fly really nice, but i decided to remake some things- we used different balsa sheets for pylon. the original pieces included are soft and have bad grain direction, but its understandable, since its only way to fit the laser cutting on this balsa sheet. with grain direction upwards its much more stable. And also maybe dont glue them together, leave a big cap between. Quality varies kit by kit, we had 1 kit without sanded trailing edges and fuselage tube with cracks. And also make sure to use blast tube or outside fuselage winding, because those tubes will break if you break fully wound motor inside. We use F1G piserchio hooks and load already winded motors inside, just like F1B/F1G.

I'm surprised that you think the quality varied. I like to think that the last one is as good as the first . There have been about 150 made without any complaints. I wouldn't knowingly send a tube out with splits in it. Any that are substandard are kept back and used by me. I currently have 8 models. The pylon is quite strong enough with the 2 end pieces of vertical grain. The only weak point around that area is where it's glued to the fuselage which is why for many years I've been supplying glass fibre tissue or silk as reinforcement. As for the trailing edge, I have given up supplying shaped wood as the quality varied a lot and now all wood is light quarter grain stripped by me. Regards Spencer Willis

Upon Building the model, I found that the ply parts that I thought were reinforcers (see 12:22) were actually parts for a motor loading stick.

Hi Tom, was wondering if you could let me know where l can get a copy of your lovely “Osprey” indoor model I can’t seem to find it anywhere on the net, any information would be great.

Hi Colin, The model is a development of my "Pipit" design which can be found on the NORWIND website www.creativesweb.co.uk/norwind I only have it as a rough drawing, but I'll try to find time to produce something workable and post it soon.
