Always nice to see a 505 in action, it was my first synth +20 years ago and I still make use of it nowdays, very versatile machine and a great add on in a midi studio. Maybe not for the main, but it does an awesome job for extra layering.
Same here; my first piece of real gear I purchased 20+ years ago. And you are definitely speaking the truth it's still usable today in the right situation. Thanks for your comment!
Love, love it! I used to make entire beats from a Yamaha E403 Keyboard and rap over them. Those were some of the best and most unique beats I've ever made. DAW's are quick, easy and efficient but it can't compare to the hands on experience of midis, keyboards, etc. My cousin has a Roland MC 505 & I'm gonna borrow it. Thanks for this video!! Sounds chill
Thank you!!! The 505 was my first REAL piece of music gear and I spent hours on end with it. Therefore I basically have its operation and workflow seared into my brain.
Absolutely killed it again! I have an MC505 and even after successfully making a couple songs I still just have the hardest time finding an inspiring workflow one thing I would love to see a video where you kind of commentate and talk through your process! Keep up the fire!!!!!
Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it. I'll keep your suggestion in mind regarding commentary walk through video. Stay up!!! Thanks again.
fantastic sound! i found a MC-505 for a good price and i was thinking on use it as the brain for my first dawless setup ever, with a microkorg! do you think thats a good idea? Thank you!
Sounds good to me. The 505 has a powerful sequencer if you are willing to get dig into the manual a little bit. You should also be able to use the 505 Sequencer to trigger the sounds in the microkorg.
Depends on how you set it up. This keyboard is midi over USB so you'll need some type of USB to midi converter. I run mine through my computer via USB then back out through my audio interface which has a midi out port.
Thanks for your question. MIDI keyboard triggers sound on the MC505. Recorded into the MC505 sequencer using internal sounds. (I have to use an external keyboard because the pads on the 505 are broken and double trigger).
@@tcmuze My MC505 pads used to double trigger. I was able to fix it by opening the unit and cleaning under the keys using 99% alcohol. Might be worth trying.
