Yeah - I'm pretty sure that by the 24th century they would have found a better solution, but until then...!

Made one of these for my 3D printer enclosure some years ago, dismantled and now I’ve begun a new one. Great video!

I’m simply blown away by your ingenuity at trying to recreate the replicator here! Honestly, the work you did to reach the level of visual accuracy you achieved was so spot on, I’d never have guessed that it wasn’t a solid structure that could fall apart if anything was placed on it. This adherence to reaching a specific level of authenticity in the final product, is what has thoroughly astounded me, time and again, watching your films. And it continues to thrill and astound me, watching these BTS videos. :)

Nice one Bluesman, thank you :-) It would have been cool to "overbuild" it so that it could have had objects placed upon it, and maybe even had a life after the filming, but as always with these things, it has to just be "good enough" to look right on camera on the three days we filmed. Anything else is just an indulgence! Shame but nevermind eh!

@FPSD I hear ya, on that. And I really admire that aspect of the filmmaking process, in the case of these Star Trek features. Everything looks so legitimate and faithful to what it did in TNG. That’s no small feat. :)

Yesterday, a group of people were treated to a person in front of a system that created an exact holographic image which can be teleported anywhere in the world. This indicates a huge amount of progress and perhaps quantum computing can add to this technology and create solids like food and drink?

That's so cool that you used cereal boxes, I'm always using them to make things too lol. The Replicator really looks good, I think it's probably my favourite thing you've made for your films. I did notice something though, but I don't want to seem negative as it's nit picky, but shouldn't the LCARS be using the orange colour scheme and not the green one? I know the best screenshots for references are from Season 1 which had the green LCARS but they changed them to match the rest of the ship in Season 3 (tng.trekcore.com/hd/albums/3x08/the_price_hd_107.jpg) and the other LCARS on the ship look like they're the orange ones so I just wondered why the Replicator was different. Also I hope you've kept all the graphics because they're too good to throw away.

Thanks Cam! You may well be right regarding the colour scheme. TBH I think they were quite inconsistent with the exact look of the replicators over the years and on different sets - sometimes the red ID tag was on the upper half, sometimes the lower, the colour of the LCARS changed as you mentioned (we even had the old skool movie era LCARS crop up in an episode shortly after the sets had been re-dressed for Star Trek VI, and not yet changed back!) and sometimes there was no plexi along the back wall and sometimes there was. The good thing is, cause this is the USS Vigilance and not the USS Enterprise - however it looks must be "correct" ha ha! ;-)

That's true that continuity was a bit over the place lol, it's still an amazing looking prop/set piece though :)
