Bravo! I believe you could improve this using (1) a simple stop-block on the router fence; and (2) a two-inch (50mm) hex bolt that fit into the knob, with a spacer-nut immediately above the head, then a wide "fender" washer that would be pressed by the clamping lever (with a notch cut out for the bolt shaft), then empty shaft, then at the top a handle or knob for rotation. The stop-block would control depth of the notches in the knob and allow fast cutting. The bolt/washer/handle assembly would fit into the hex opening you already cut, and would combine the clamping mechanism with a faster rotation mechanism. The two should make it much quicker to produce knobs.

Seems like a lot of work. I just drill a ring of holes and cut out with a hole saw and finish on the lathe. If no lathe available, the cut out piece can be remounted in a drill and a sanding block used to finish to satisfaction. Bernard.
