We all have those pieces in our wardrobe that no longer fit, but we can't bear to part with them. We keep saying, "Someday I'll fit back into it." Maybe it's time to take that beloved article of clothing and fashion it into something new.

Remaking old clothes into Barbie clothes was how I got started sewing. Great video! Figuring out how clothes work by taking them apart and changing them is such a great way to gain sewing skills.

Absolutely! I was deconstructing clothing before I was using sewing patterns. It really helped me make sense of some of the vague instructions I came across later.

This reminds me of all the old long skirts that are WAY too wide in the waist for me now that I've been holding on to for years knowing they'd be perfect and easy to either take in or use in a costume. I should really do something with those, eh?

I also used to be an English teacher and am now making sewing videos on RU-vid. It's contagious! I also have a velveteen jacket that's falling apart a bit that may need to be vestified soon..

Upcycling is the perfect thing to do during this time! Just made one of my old dresses into a toddler dress for my two year old :). Great video to show how to repurpose a clothing item everyone has in their closet!
