Making a VIDEO GAME in 3 Days 

just saw this again and had to laught so much :')

Hehe I probably have over 20 of these types of projects behind be now :) (the ones you mentioned). Making a game remotely is really difficult and it depends on the scope and the vision keeper. You always have to have one person who will push everyone else. On top of that, try to keep your gameplay loop so small that you can make it in one or two weekends... otherwise for the team it will feel like they are woking into some kind of void... and then they stop working on the project. I've made graphics for some project that took 2 month to get implemented... when I never saw any of my work being in the game I also thought "oh then I can take a break untill the programmer is done" :)

Simone We all worked for the same game publisher and would meet for lunch, after work, or during the weekend. I guess the biggest problem was that we were all already working on games all day every day, so people were burnt out by the time it came to actually work on OUR game :P. I enjoy working on big multimillion dollar projects, but I hope to one day get out of that and have my own indie studio.

Hey man, thanks for subbing :D Also I cannot agree more. I myself have a pretty lame keyboard and am not that fast at typing, so when we finally tested this game I was like "meh...". I'd love to have one of these really loud, old mechanical keyboards, but they tend to be unwelcomed in shared offices ;D

@@Simonemaendl Check out any mechanical keyboard with Matias Quiet Click switches. I promise you'll love it for public and office use. It's an extremely tactile switch that I myself highly recommend. You just have to make sure that it's got all of the additional characters you'll need for your region.

Neither can I :D circles are hard to draw. But in theory, if we both sat down and drew circles for 2 hours each day, we'd probably both be good at it in a month :) Drawing is just a lot of practice.

Gamejams are a perfect place to start! Even if you don't have a team, you can usually find people to jam with. It also helps you build a portfolio that you can then show, when you want to apply somewhere.

Thank you so much for your answer! What would be the best tools between dev and graphic designer to merge the artwork to the game code ? do you use Unity? Or good old AS3 ;) and what about web based game? What is your approach on this?

It kind of depends on what you want to do. I'm using Clickteam Fusion at the moment because it is visual scripting and allows you to make games without learning a programming language. You still have to learn how games work logic wise. But for me that's the fun part. Of course Unity and other engines have blueprints and such... But yeah... I use Unity when I have someone who can actually code and Fusion when I'm by myself :) For web I use the html5 exporter that is compatible with fusion. However I only started using it recently, before I never aimed for web but mostly Desktop or Mobile. I've also heard good stories about Gamemaker or the Defold engine (which we used in this Video) but have not done anything with them myself. Hope this helps :)

Spel means game, kollektiv refers to the gaming developper community. So yeah Sweden. I didn't pay attention at first and got really excited when I saw the houses.

I do that with all my scripted videos where I have the time to rewrite a script and do multiple takes. With Gamejam Videos and Vlogs I only have one take and have no idea where the video is going to go, once I start recording. Only option I have is trying to edit it together somehow :'D
