Making and Mastering Hand Planes by David Finck is a fantastic book to get. I should have read that first. There is a ton of nuance that goes into making the laminated ones.
@@EricMeyerMaker Hi Eric, art and crafts are God gifts we are all His creations, putting us together He sometimes, if He likes, will take a pinch from His special box and mix it along which makes someone very special. Take the example of Michelangelo he had more than a pinch rather a handful of that special gift but what is this gift... perfect coordination of mind, eyes and hands....and there is David in full glory. Other will make a copy in plastic but the difference can never be removed. This Polish guy also that special gift from God. Enjoy his videos, best wishes and regards.
If the board is wider than the jointer or real short I'll do it by hand. Same, if I only have a couple of boards to do. If I have a lot of boards to run I'll do it on the jointer. Lately, I've been doing all my jointing by hand. I moved the jointer out of the shop because I ran out of room. It is more of a hassle setting it up than to do it all manually.
in asian countries iron planes have made their way too , but plane wooden one is a joy to use it has an effect on your hands , your brain, smell changes wood has a great and inferior both smells.wood cuts wood by an iron teeth.
Looks great, Thanks. After having used a gauge for cap iron screw clearance , do you recommend an auger ? Or isn't the angle of approach conducive to the use of such tools ?
I was watching a youtube homesteader video last year where the person caught a bezver and skinned it and ate it because he heard that they were edible. Have you ever done that?
In this video it looks like I was using Titebond 2. Lately, I've been using white PVA glue. I think the dried color is a bit more invisible. My local hardware store stocks Elmer's. I also like Old Brown Glue Liquid Hide Glue.
hey so where did you get your stamp? been trying to figure out how to google a maker's stamp like yours w/out getting ink stamps or leather stamps in the results
You would love a 5-1/2 Woodriver or Lie-Nielsen plane. That thing you used at the beginning was painful to watch. Doesn't matter how much you spent on it, far too much skipping and chattering before you got close to dialing in the surface. It should be an enjoyable journey, that looked like a "can't wait til it's over" moment.
5.5 Woodriver or LN..... you must be from the Rob fan club 🤔😂 LN is jus an overpriced standard plane with some polish on it. Woodriver is a Chinese clone of the previous plane, minus some brass/bronze and bling. Get yourself some Veritas planes, those are the true innovators in plane making, they're absolute work horses 🤙
