This was 2,25" square chess board. I tried to make "levitating" playing surface. It was a long work. It took me two weeks to make these chessboards.

Yet another masterpiece. I'd love to spend a day in your shop just learning as much as possible. I'm about to make my first chessboard. I admit I'm a bit nervous. Zebrawood and wengue is probably not the wisest start... but it's what I have. 😳

Wow great job Andrei. When you were cutting the maple, your saw had a bit of trouble. Maple is tough stuff! Great idea with the wooden wedge ☺. We could use some rain...the grass is turning brown. It looks like you have lost some weight. Good job, I need to lose a few pounds myself. Too much 🍺🍻. Your sons remind me when I was in my father's shop sweeping and cleaning up! Best Regards Patrick

Patrick Melchior The wedge is made of azobe. It is a crazy dense wood. It sinks in water. I use it during four years, no changes.

I put a board together with Padauk and Maple and when I sanded it the Maple took on the orange from the Padauk. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks for your awesome videos and cute kids!

+puzzlerjo Yes, padauk is slightly stained. Just remove the dust with the vacuum cleaner and then apply lacquer or oil.

you can cut the Styrofoam to accurate size on the tablesaw...

MrKikoboy It needs a large place to store, a lot of dust. The polyethylene foam in rolls is more convenient. Also there is a big factory in my town and I buy the defect foam at very low price. It costs me half a dollar to pack one board.

В начале падук - очень красивое дерево! Шикарные досточки получились! Очень много работы, хотя, казалось бы - просто "шахматные доски", НО НЕ ПРОСТО! На фрезерном удивился, что нет заднего упора и ждал, когда отколется уголочек, прямо триллер, но повезло как-то, то ли фреза у Вас хорошая, то ли я ничего не понимаю! :))

Igor BiBl Фрезы хорошие, но один угол все равно откололся. Но это особенность падука, он легко колется.

Anry V По интернету. Несколько поставщиков, ни разу не выезжал на склады. Один раз была некондиция дуба, прислали дополнительный куб. На самом деле сейчас большинство поставщиков относятся к даже к небольшим потребителям довольно ответственно.
