Making An Envelope 

This is the best tutorial I have watched! I have been making my own envelopes all afternoon and wish I hadn't wasted my money buying an 'envelope maker board' that I can't understand!!! Thank you!

This is the absolutely most easy way out of all these videos to make an envelope. Your instructions were so simple to understand & you went slow enough to copy what you were saying. I am going to save this video to my favorites.

Like LumosMx said: the "diagonal measurement of the card + 1 inch" is very helpful. I tried to make my own template but it never worked out. Now I tried your method and it works so great that I don't have to bother with templates ever again. Thank you so much for this great tutorial. Love, Tina

Searched alot of tutorials for making envelopes, and this has been the best. Thank you soo much!

I love the simple rule: measure card on diagonal; add 1 " to that number; then cut paper to that new amount, squared. Easy & straightforward. I've purchased envelope templates, only to be frustrated because my cards never ended up the sizes of my templates. Knowing this 1" rule solves everything! Thank you Leslie!

I just made an envelope in which I'm putting a card I made and will be sending to my husband who is a pilot serving in the middle east. It's great to be free to make cards of any size knowing I can create awesome envelopes for mailing. You also make my mom and me laugh. :)

Hi, Leslie! I am so glad I found your tutorial because I usually make cards with a lot of dimension. Even with a gadget that's supposed to help me make custom envelopes, I always felt it was guess work. Nothing would harsh my mellow more than wasting time and nice paper on an envelope that was the wrong size! I think this will make it much easier now. Thanks for sharing =)

I must say there are many good envelope video's, and I always gravitate back to this one. I love the simple explanation demonstration so easy to follow. Awesome Awesome Awesome!!! Every time I searched for 'how to made an envelope without a scorepal (spellcheck?)'. I would either get a template or a scorepal anyway and I don't have either one. I greatly appreciate your tutorial!!!

This quick tutorial is incredible. It took me a couple tries to get the hang of it but, once I did, it wasn't hard at all. My first envelope was made from red velvet paper and the simplicity of the technique inspired me to make an electronic template that will allow me to print on the envelope.

This has been a life saver! I have a scoring board but it only has the measurements for the standard sizes. My cards are almost never a standard size.

Leslie, don't let people like this last poster discourage you in anyway! Some people have never learned the old saying, if you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all! Maybe this person will get the hint now!Anyways, I am so grateful I ran across your video, I like to make square cards and I have umpteen dozens of templates but none that works for square cards! Now, I'm anxious to go n make a square card, so I can make a matching envelope too, and all cuz of U! blessings2U,TFS!

Thanks so much for this simple and effective envelope making tutorial. I've been making envelopes with the sides folded in but I really like the triangular shaped folds better, I think they look more 'store-bought'. I was wondering if I could make simple templates for different sizes, and then I thought, duh, this is for CUSTOM sizes, lol! TFS! P. S. The quote you show at the end is one of my favorites; I've had it posted on my refrigerator for years!

Thanks so much for this. I have two envelope makers, but they are limited to the sizes you can make and if your card varies at all....you're up the creek. With measuring diagonal.....who needs the enveloper or Martha Stewart's scoreboard envelope maker (the scoreboard itself is a handy tool though!)!

Doris, thank you for your comment and question. The circular shape should be the same size left/right and top/bottom. Take a measurement from one edge to the other and add one inch to that figure. Give that a try and let me know if it worked for you. Leslie

Wouldn't be good if you inadvertently glued the flaps to the inside of the open space :-( That would be a total bummer. Hope you enjoy making your one of a kind envelopes :D Leslie
