I wanted to make a very individual axe cover / sheath, so I incorporated some of my shoemaking experience, and I also had a go at painting a deer, as I see deer most days on my walk through Knole Park, Sevenoaks, UK.
I used the Angelus Acrylic Leather Paints.
The broguing tool came from Ebay - search for : Leather Craft 3/5/8 Holes Puncher brogue style Round hole cutter punch hand tool.

You never fail to make me smile. I really like your spin on an axe sheath. You’ll definitely be able to spot it in a crowd.

Hi Joseph, things are slowly opening up, and we can meet one other household outside. Vaccine take up is very good so fingers crossed.

Harry, another great video. Thanks for your great work and explanations. With most of your videos under my belt, I’m able to pick and combine different techniques to imagine lots of projects. Once I get my sewing table with servo motor drive built, I’ll start some of these projects. I have lots of tools and woodcarving chisels for tool rolls and knives, military compass, etc. Thanks for all your great work and teachings. Cheers John

I received my Wood Axe last year and I love it. I wish I'd thought of cutting the leather with the axe as you did, it would have made it so much more personal somehow. I will post a photo of my attempt on your facebook page.

Nice project, I'm curious why you put the long piece that wraps around the back on the inside rather than on the outside?

Hi, can I ask where we can buy the pair of scissor? Great video like always.
@harryrogers
@harryrogers 3 года назад
The serrated scissors came from Amazon. They are 3mm triangular form, you may also have to buy a pair of rounded ones if they come as a set.

Hi Harry, I really enjoy all if your videos, This am I came across this one, in perfect time as I have been struggling to make a ax sheath for my husband for Christmas....I love this pattern, I have been trying to make a pattern out of paper and have had to re-do it SEVeral times... question approx how much seam allowance do you use for your stitch line past the actual trace of your ax? I don't know why I am struggling with this but I am. Any help greatly appreciated! I think I need to walk away for a bit. Thank you for all you do.
@harryrogers

Hi from memory, if you make the welt about 1cm wide and aim for the stitches 4mm off the outer edge, that gives 6 mm for your blade to dig in to the welt, and still margin to trim off 1mm on the outer edge. If its proving tricky make the welt a bit wider ...like 12mm plus. Do try and persevere as it will make a fantastic present. Somewhere I have done a video on a knife sheath, and also one of an adze cover...similar principles, so might be worth watching.
