If you are thinking of what we did here which is greenwood working, the join bodgers.org and find a group near where you live...all you need is an axe and drawknife. Mike Abbott has done some very helpful books. If you are thinking carpentry as practised widely today in the building trade etc, the a saw, a plane, a hammer and a chisel...and watch some Paul Sellers videos here.

Hello Benjamin, that is a Twybil, an ancient mortising axe. That particular one is by Sorby, and was made in 1871. They are often used by hurdle makers. I believe Ashley Isles still makes them.
