This looks so awesome I'm already planning to make my own, but there are a few things missing from the parts list I was hoping you could clarify. The buttons and switches you used are different than those listed by Adafruit, and particularly since you designed the CAD model around the push button I want to be sure to get the right one. Could those items unique to this build possibly be added to the parts list?

My fave is also from Clone Wars, but it's the Wookie Padiwan's from the episode where several padawans were making their sabers. Simple lines, carved wood grips. Always wanted to make that one. Can't recall what episode that was.

The lightsaber can't just be handed down(though it technically could) but the lightsaber is assembled by the force sensitive person, as the force guides them in making it for their standards. Anakin made the lightsaber. And the reason he didn't just keep the green one from Attack of the Clones is that same reason, it wasn't his. I will say, that Lightsaber blew up, so this one might actually be Rey's, if she actually made it. It might just be repaired(With Disney magic, because that makes sense, apparently) Than it's still Anakin's.

@@SaitoGray both what are overpriced? Adafruits solution is massive and low quality. There is a whole community of creators and companies specifically making lightsaber electronics for all price ranges that are tiny and much higher quality.

I love this! My favorite is Luke’s from ANH, mainly because of the origin, coming from a Graflex 3 Cell Flash. Also the ANH lightsaber is the only one to have the activation switch on the opposite side of the bunny ears.

Each trilogy the lightsaber switches its ignition switch, when Anakin used it, it was the main button on the front (used to be red) and Luke used the box in the middle, and now Rey uses the one that's high and on the back protruding.

"I hear the lightsaber screaming in pain!" Yeah, it and me. You know, with decorative leather like that, you really only need to scratch the points of most wear. In this case, you could have gotten away with only scratching where the leather ends meet since the rest of the edges look mostly held by tension. With the addition of superglue, it would have held even over the paint. Less scraping, less cringing, and less work. Maybe scratches at the outside corners, too. But that's my armchair quarterback opinion since, you know... you made it and I didn't so, technically, your expertise far outweighs my own.

Fun fact: those little brass pins are the "activator" for the real Graflex flash gun. The socket is where you plug in the cord for the flash button to take pictures!

Fun fact: The black fin looking parts on the handle we're originally made from cuts of windshield wiper blades. A great idea since they are rubber. Adds to the grip, and the spacing prevents too much sweating when you do, inevitably, get to swing them around a bit. If you get around to making a combat ready saber, keep in mind the weight of the battery and sound board, in comparison to the weight of the blade. A saber should be evenly weighted when teetering at the edge of the hilt where the blade makes contact. I have modified a few premade "combat" sabers, and that makes a huge difference in the feel of the swing. Make small tweaks after that to customize the feel to your liking. The saber should want to flow with your arm, and not fight you on the back swing.

Actually its been recently determined the grips are from tea cupboard door tracks. Mark hammil complained about them cutting his hands. But what you say about center of gravity is VERY true. My Disney savi saber is SO HEAVY after swings my arm is sore, and it doesnt control very well. I spin my much lighter korbanth LS6 and its so easy it almost feels wrong lol

@@RandomStuffGarage619 it's not the weight of the sword in total, just the weight difference between the handle and blade. My saber weights almost 2 pounds, but it's evenly distributed so that when swung it feels like an extension of my arm, while still not pulling me away from the target or tiring me any more than normal. My hand basically rests at the pivot point of all the weight, so I can swing in any direction with easy. It's not loppy.

@@jester4761 Yeah that makes sense. I suppose it could be worse with a Disney savi saber. The blade LED ladder type so its not empty. That balances the weight a little. Not much but I'm sure it helps because if you have never felt one of those chunky sabers they are HEAVY!

@@RandomStuffGarage619 I haven't felt one of those. I got a few from kyberlight, and then I had some aluminum parts machined custom to fit, then I grinded and sanded until I had a weight I was happy with.

I have all the parts printed, the electronics working, but I could never find the right material to make the blade. I've seen a lot of videos, and they all seemed to use some kind of silvery plastic. Polycarbonate with parchment paper, so simple... I have to say: Sophie is so beautiful that I was anxious waiting for her to appear during the video. Some lucky guy managed to put a ring on her finger, but if one day she takes the ring off, I can either go to the US or wait for her here in Brazil, maybe build wearables for the carnival in Rio de Janeiro together :-)

My favorite lightsaber is Count Dooku’s curved hilt red lightsaber. The hilt makes it easier to grip when practicing single-handed lightsaber combat.
