@orlandofurioso9930

yeah dude, the problem whith the no talking is that there is no information about the measures of the pieces, the temperature in the forge nor the time of flaming of the piece. no Intel about the problems the piece presents While macking or how to fix those problems.

The morning star was typically a peasant's club on steroids... force multipliers with armor piercing potential. Something for the "little guy" to punch above his weight against armored opponents. Over time it was re-imagined and adopted by the military-proper; the ones you see in museums (and in this video) are examples of the design taken to its limits.
@wizrom3046
@wizrom3046 Месяц назад
It's primary use was to rip the plate armour off an opponent. The little spikes dig into the armour and the inertia of the club part rips the armour plate off its leather bindings. It was good against helmets too, to rip the helmet off the head or rotate it with great force.
@cadenayers9253

@nean9894

Spikes when fighting plate are mostly to prevent glancing blows They rarely pierced plate However anything less than plate or brigandine the other guy would have some nasty new orfices
@wizrom3046
@wizrom3046 Месяц назад
@@nean9894 yeah glancing blows the mace slips and doesnt impart the kinetic energy into the target. With the spikes, the mace can grip the armour plate and rip it off if the blow has any sideways momentum, or if it is a very accurate blow it is like you said.
@oldsailor4143
@oldsailor4143 Месяц назад
@@wizrom3046 Doesn't sound realistic to me. Lets say a bit of armor does come off and gets stuck onto the spike, now your weapon is clumsy thus making you an easy target or the armor stays but your weapon is stuck. The spikes are there for something else completely i imagine. Besides i think you're greatly underestimating the construction of medieval armor, rarely was it only straps. Full plate armor was often shut completely around the limb, chest, etc. with steel hinges, since you don't want just that to happen because its a lot of hard work to make it and expensive.
@lukeolinger6000
@lukeolinger6000 Месяц назад
For the spikes I would recommend you try and get soil penetrometer probe tips. The weld onto the bolt may be strong, but that would potentially be a weak point due to the inability to get the weld all the way to the middle of the bolt.

Those look like about 1/2in steel plates for the head. Based on a few sledgehammers of about the same size as those plate stacks, that thing probably weighs close to 12-15lbs. Don't worry, it's a dead-blow enough without shot inside.
@christopherdean1326
@christopherdean1326 Месяц назад
First rate work at every point, but it seemed like a long-winded way round to get to where you wanted to be. Machining the head from solid would weigh more, but weight is not a problem in a morningstar until it is unmanageable. The spikes could surely be made in one piece (rather than welding them onto machined bolt heads), and "sweated" into the holes in the head.

I was wondering how morning star would be produced with medival technology and i think the way to create it in order to be solid is to cast it, if you want spikes to be extra strong, you may forge them, plance in mould and cast the "head", so it traps and holds spikes, but not sure if spikes will stay quenched.
