I love her channel too. I think your bath bombs turned out wonderfully. I hope you sell them all at your craft fair. I think the frosting and drizzle on top really added a special sparkle to your art. Thank you again for sharing your process. I truly appreciate your honesty and giving spirit.

That press was definitely an essential piece of equipment. Expertise doesn't happen immediately, it takes time to build up knowledge of what works and what doesn't. In my opinion the more you do something the more 'on the job training' you get which translate to expertise. However, don't throw the bath bomb out with the water, your bath bombs are definitely good enough to sell, and sell well. And your process looks fine. I take you at your word when you say you're not criticising yourself, and you shouldn't, your standards and your products are well made and professional, just remember, this is supposed to be a hand made item. Love to you and yours and a good week ahead ❤️

Ooo, blueberry waffles! I was wondering if you were going to add a drizzle of "syrup" to those. Looks so good! How is it covered bridge festival time again already?! Where has this year gone? Good luck! I hope you sell out of everything! 🥰

Oh my goodness! I love them all! I've never heard that it's ether vanillin that turns your stuff brown before so thank you for sharing that! And I'm wondering if any of your bathbombs turned brown. I've been afraid to use any vanillin fragrance. But if a little bit doesn't change it than that would be good to know. Thanks Tammy for another great video! Have a wonderful week!
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique 10 месяцев назад
Hi Melissa! - I went ahead and tested the Candy Cane fo in solid bubble bath frosting - totally brown! I'm passing it off as chocolate frosting LOL but it looks horrible. I have used fo with a little fo - sea salt and orchid specifically that is 2-5% vanillin and it turned splotchy but not 100% discolored. Not sure which would be better actually. I think if it is under 2% we may be ok. The problem is most suppliers don't give the ethyl vanillin info. thanks for watching as always!! 🤗💞

@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique chocolate frosting always sounds yummy! And a great idea! LOL thanks for the info. I wish there were more videos about what colors could look good with vanillin fragrances. But I suppose that's all part of the learning process LOL

I completely relate - I started my bath bomb making adventure with Jerika's recipe and a bath bomb press but I too have found the recipe will work four times and the fifth will be a fail. I struggle with my mix sticking to the upper mold and then it causes it to break in half and I have to dig out the top. It's so frustrating! I reached out to Jerika and to the company but they weren't helpful. Any tweeks or insight would be greatly appreciated.

gosh I wish I had a great response to give you Jennifer. I do remember going through so many batches and at least 2 months of doing not much else trying to get it right. I had the same issue as you, along with a weird disk of bath bomb mixture in the middle of the sphere. I am more than happy to try to help you - I remember almost being in tears during that time! I really feel for ya the first thing I did to get it right is I followed Jerika's form. Yes I used her formula (other than dropping the slsa to 1%) but her technique. I wet the baking soda alone in the stand mixture with the dye to bloom before adding the other powders. I then added liquids, mixed and finally citric acid and mixed again. I also studied her technique in molding. I watched several of her early videos and copied how she added mixture to the molds and the whole bit. the next thing I did was check my psi. What is your psi set to? for round bombs I would not go over 75 or so. I originally had it set to 95-100 or more - I think this may be the most important change I made. Let me know what you think of this and if you need more help!
@jenniferdevitt2240
@jenniferdevitt2240 4 месяца назад
OMG I think it's the PSI!! You are confirming something I suspected but figured I was wrong! I also found dusting the mold with baking soda between each use helped but added time to the process for sure. You will laugh but I have two golden retriever rescues and one of them is utterly petrified of the compressor so he has to be taken somewhere when I'm making bombs so I am always stressed and rushing when I use the press!! I really would like it to work since it cost so much money lol!! Thank you again I will update you when I can next try the new setting!! @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique

Hi Ann Marie! Oh man, that is not good 😟 I got my press from the Bath Bomb Press up in Canada. She is so very nice and easy to work with - the link is in the description I struggled with the decision to buy it for a really long time because the cost is crazy, but in the end I don't regret it for a second! Let me know if you get one. I also have several video of my using an arbor press for bath bombs. It was a life saver! But I was cracking my molds. It wasn't until much later I realized that a lot of force does not equate to a successful bath bomb - sometimes it can cause them to break apart even more. That is another option for you if the bb press is too much $$. 💕
