Decided to do a sequel, not just because the last time I did a video like this it blew up, but so that I could clear up some questions I had on the first one. Get the game here: www.beamng.com/ #beamng
Small side note, this is my 100th upload, so I thought I should make it something good and not a shitepost. Thanks to anyone who has been watching me for every one of those hundred videos, there will be many hundreds more to come. 👍 Edit: Also apoligies for the slightly badly timed text at 10:51 at that point of the video I was pretty much editing on pure adrenaline due to my PC having issues and threatening to fuck over my work. Who cares xdddd
@@Polandball_taken doesnt really matter, all the changed except the shadows will not affect performance. the game will look nicer on higher graphics settings, but that would be true in any case so its up to you and your specs really
I already boosted the bass frequencies, if I did it any more then it would just sound boomy and it would be like 40% background noise. Sometimes you can't fix shit mics lmao
Highly recommend lowering the shadow distance too. On bigger open maps the popin isn't worth it, but if you rarely look too far ahead, lowering it to about 1000 can drastically increase the perceived resolution. Make sure the shadow fade distance is always lower though, otherwise all shadows will dissappear!
@@SourDisc it also fixes shadow bitdepth issues. Essentially, no matter what the resolution, there will always be a gap between an object and it's shadow that overdark can't fix but a lower shadow distance can

I'm sure thousands have already said it but man, I really hope the devs see this one day and include the changes in the base game. Seems like such a dumb and easy tweak lol
As a user of your old graphics settings and someone who knows jack shit of what 75% of the things do in the editor this update makes me very happy. Thank you!
My favorite tweaks are to always increase the sunscale and brightness and lower the ambient light so the shadows are darker, and reduce the shadow distance for crisper shadows.
I think this is gonna blow up, I just got it reccomended on my RU-vid homescreen, currently it's at 2712 views, 462 likes, and SourDick is at 6.41K subscribers! Good Luck! :)
Clear information, followed by instructions and showed by example. This is the meaning and definition of an Excelent! Tutorial. Thanks, thanks, and thanks
Hey SourDisc, you can also change the logweight from 0.980 to 0.970 (less quality more detailed shadow distance) to 0.999 (more quality less shadow detail distance) 0.990 is recommended!!
One good mod for this is the 'CK graphics mod' menu, you can boost the shadow quality, LOD, Ambeint Oclusion quality, and it will save for you everytime you get into a game if you press the hotkey to toggle it on or off. The only unfortunate part of using it Is you lose some FPS.
I'm thinking CK could really take notes from this video aswell. If you could combine these settings with that menu then you would have a super popular mod
If you're asking about simply saving the map, then once you save it, the settings will persist. If you mean when you enter a separate map, then yes you need to change that map aswell. You're changing the map itself, not anything common.
Is there any way to adjust the bloom level in game or is that just a limitation of the shaders? I'm trying to keep some of the sun bloom without it just taking over the entire sky
Is it safe to save this on a career mode? also, the video is pretty good, i appreciate this, but for this video, your mic is really harsh in the mid-high end.
Yeah it should work no matter what game mode you save it in, although I haven't tried career. And yeah you're not the first to mention the mic, I've got a new one since and it's miles better
Yeah i was just a bit afraid to ruin my save file, so i'm thinking i'll open up the map in freeroam, save it, and see if the career loads map that i modified, thanks!! @@SourDisc
First, thank you for your video. I have a question. Can i save this Options for the next start of the Game? Cause every time i start the Game i have to set These Option New...
I've already answered this, both in the video and in another comment, but If you want it to save on just that map, then just save the map. But you will have to do it on every map because the world editor is only effective on one map at a time.
Someone should really make a mod that loads all of these graphics tweaks on startup Edit: I didn’t watch until the very end when I made this comment, sorry! I’m a dumb ass
@@SourDisc could be cool, although what would really be powerful is if someone could make a preset manager for it... now that I think about it you could probably do that through a basic UI mod and some INI files(?) i don’t know, I’m not an experienced moder
@@SourDisc and you also have to save the changes, which may break if a map is reworked.which means you'll probably also have to delete the changes from your userdirectory and do it again.
