Hi Becky 👋 I'm sorry I missed your live stream but I was team rewatch and I was surprised to hear about freezer jam! My grandma used to make homemade strawberry jam but it was canned and it was delicious and also my favorite! I just wanted to say that I love the idea of learning how to make freezer jam and without a lot of sugar!!!! Your freezer jam looks absolutely delicious 😋 and I can't wait to try and make it myself (it will be my first time doing it)! Thank you for all of your amazing videos ❤. Thank you for teaching me and do many of us here all of the amazing ways to do so much!!!!!! Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤ ps homemade jam is always the best?💕💕💕

With using the freezer method could I use 3 berries? And how long does the jam last in the freezer? And once in the fridge, how long would last?

I’m so sad I missed your live it’s been wonderful watching you and listening to you and Josh just chatting. For something you didn’t like, I remember when you were in your last property you made something that was pickled or fermented, I want to say onion or garlic was something unusual like that. And it’s the first time I’ve ever seen you say no friends that’s horrible we won’t be making that again! Let me know if you can remember it too x

I’ve enjoyed every type of video you’ve done: cooking, canning, remodeling your current home, decorating, gardening , all the things you do. Whether it’s a video with just your or you & Josh, it’s all enjoyable & I take away something I can use in my life from each jaunra 🥰

Hi Becky and everyone 😊 cultured buttermilk is similar to yogurt in that it has bacteria added and it is thicker and more tangy. Regular buttermilk is the by product of making butter, when the whey separated from the fat. It is thinner and less tangy. They have different uses in baking so make sure to use whatever the recipe requires. Your biscuits definitely needed cultured buttermilk so, good job Josh!! Hope this helps!

It was comforting listening to you and Josh work together and I love the recipes that you choose - you give me courage to try new things even at the ancient age of 76. But the reason I said “comforting” is that I was able to take my mind off of my brother’s suffering for a bit with the pleasantness of your show. He is dying of brain cancer and it’s not a pretty thing as you may imagine, or know. Plus he is in Japan and I am in California, so it’s even harder. Watching you make something as simple as jam and biscuits was just so normal and you have such a great rapport with us, your audience - as one person put it - you are so real - authentic. So thank you for being down home goodness - you helped and will continue to help me as I continue to watch your shows… to get through a tough time in my life.

Thank you for sharing with us!

I love watching your videos. You are the first person I've seen on RU-vid who actually knows how to cut out biscuits. You are supposed to cut straight down and not twist the biscuit cutter. It allows for the biscuits to rise higher while baking. You are a fabulous cook. I enjoy watching you cook more than anyone on the cooking network.

Would love to see you 2 do travel vlogs to other farms, farm markets, festivals and of course lots of foodie exploring, and taking us on a journey of learning new skills as you did a while back with butchering hogs. Definitely keep your bees as far away from your outdoor living area. They'll find their wind to the plants, but you won't, and family & friends won't have to run & dodge from them in case someone is allergic to them

Years and years ago my mother made freezer strawberry jam using the bought pectin using the recipe on the box (we had just moved to Tampa, Florida, 1967). That was the last year that she canned strawberry preserves. Only freezer strawberry jam was made in all the following many years! The first year one of my sisters served freezer strawberry jam with her homemade yeast rolls at the family Thanksgiving dinner, her husband would have married her, if they had not already wed that previous June. No family dinner is complete without freezer strawberry jam and her homemade yeast rolls. BTW, all strawberries are you-picked in the fields east of Tampa. I can't imagine Josh not falling in love with the freezer strawberry jam. In my opinion, the bright red of fresh strawberry jam is a distinctive sensory pleasure that elevates the taste! I never, never have eaten canned strawberry jam if given a choice since 1967.

Love your show and I'm so glad that I found you. I consider you a new friend. Although it's been a long time since I have been married raise children and did a lot in the kitchen I still look for ways to save time. At this stage of my life I am caring for someone who needs my attention and meal preparation is one of them. Thank you for your ideas and your hard work because I know there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes to be able to produce a show like yours.

Enjoyed, the video even though I was unable to watch it live. Thank you for sharing your little corner of your world with us. You are brave just to go and try and if it works great if it does not work that is okay and you learn from the mistake. It is great that Josh is able to be home full time now. So, good to have someone to help when you need it. Have great summer and hope your harvest is bountiful.

Freezer jam is the best! I like it better than water bath canned. It tastes much fresher & has more berry flavor. Yummy 🍓😋

One year I used 1/2 water and 1/2 strawberry kiwi wine cooler to make strawberry freezer jam. It was yummy! I also made cinnamon mango vodka freezer jam which was great on pancakes and French toast.

If you put a sewing machine in the laundry room keep a dust cover over the machine to keep the inner workings clean. Before you use the machine oil it properly. If you haven’t used it in a while and you don’t oil it, damage may occur. Strawberry jam…..yum😀

I’ve grown corn in raised beds for several years now. In the larger beds, i plant in blocks. In the smaller beds (2300mm x 225mm x 400mm) the corn is planted in a single row, and I always get a good harvest.

I love the kitchen as is! So many are trying to bring the mid-century look into their home and especially kitchen! Your kitchen actually looks newer than (or more modern than) that but still has a that vibe. But, of course not everyone wants that. I do, and wish I had it! The look I grew up with! (Minus the Poppy, Avocado or Harvest Gold kitchen appliances 😂)

I finally finished watching. I wish it would have been a little later in the day. I am on the east coast and I could not catch you live. So happy for you and Josh that he is able to work with you and be around more for your family. Can't wait to see more about the bees. Would love to see more of Orbit and Tibro. Would love to see them better so we could tell them apart.

When I make my freezer jam I add the sugar to the berries and let sit in them till you don’t see the sugar. Just syrupy then I pour the pectin water mix over the strawberries and put in containers

I love freezer jams! Have you ever made rhubarb jelly and jams or bbq sauce? My mom used to make rhubarb preserves that had rhubarb, raisins, apples, strawberries and apples in it. So good on toast or fresh bread! I’m looking forward to seeing the garden grow and produce for you. So nice to see Josh and congratulations on being full time on the channel! Biscuits looked so yummy!

The way to hand pollinate corn is to shake the corn stocks so that the pollen falls all around it and across the other cornstalks it works.
