Four years ago this month my entire home town burned to the ground. Since then I've have been staying with relatives and friends. Not really having my own place to garden. With bonsai I can move the small magical plants with me until I find a home. I'm very eager to learn. I can also take the new small trees and plants from the regrowth from my home in Paradise California to bring a little of Home wherever I move to. It is amazing now to see the new plants and animals that now call my old place home. There are new plants there now that were never there before, and water from a neighboring property has become a vital water source for all kinds of wildlife. So it's true, out of ashes comes new life. Thank you so much for suggesting the Irish man too!

Through the full process, I had the idea in my head of the side of a mountain when looking at the main trunk. I love the way Peter Chan described it as 3 trees coming together, makes me think of a raft almost, but still standing strong and tall. I would be quite tempted to leave a great deal of small plastic green army men at the base of so many of the beautiful specimens.

I’m glad you went for the large bonsai style. It really reminded me of large pines you see in a forest, straight trunk and a top that somewhat looks like antlers. Could be a great forest planting if you group some of those together. Perhaps on a big plate of (imitation) slate. Impossible to move it afterwards but that sure would be a sight to see!

Don't mean to be rude because lots of people here get very excited about your videos as I do . However you said yourself anything over a metre is to big for a bonsai. The large branch above lower Wright and upper left needs to be removed. You could take everything thing off .and just leave the lower Wright with a large jin or carving. Also to create tapper . I hope you can appreciate my apinion.

Squamata are fantastically cheap and thick from garden centres. It gives you a lot more confidence learning bonsai concepts on them over an expensive tree to begin with. I think I’d be much more stressed working on one this big though 🤣
