Making Cheap Lumber with a CNC is easy! It is not hard to find a large slab for cheap that has excessive bows, warps, or defects that cause most people to reject it. These can often be milled down with your CNC to make cheap lumber! I often go to my slab store and walk right past the nice, clean ready to sell slabs and look at what is in the scrap or defect bin. With the right vision, you can find a perfect piece of wood for pennies on the dollar!
Here I'm taking a large 4 ft x 19 in x 2 in slab of white oak that I picked up for $25 and I mill it down to a usable slap that is still well over an inch thick. Sure, it will take some work still ... some epoxy filling, some creativity in what project I use it for, but for the money, it is a great deal!
