Nice to see Don's progress. I has to laugh too when he said he had enough tools. He can't resist a good deal either

Thanks for another educational video. If the part is firmly clamped and positioned, as Steve demonstrated, the bandsaw blade becomes a long continuous milling cutter.

Hey Don, I know time is precious and a perfectly running machine doesn’t really deserve to put to the top of the list, but that Bridgeport looks out of place in your shop. Lol You’ve really got your shop in good running order, I wish we could see more of it. I’d really like to see you finish the shaper up, but I’m sure you do too. Thanks for sharing

Shaper is my next focus. Gonna put it all together and then need a new gib for the downfeed. Bridgeport is next. Thanks

I have the British equivalent to the Simpson meter, the 1970's vintage AVOmeter No.8 MkVI in near new condition . The DC was working when I got it but not the AC or Ohms. Like Don, I needed to replace the two sets of battery terminals from corrosion, for the 1.5V C cell and the 15V BLR121 battery for the high ohm ranges. For the AC, I needed to replace two small OA95 germanium diodes. I then sent it back to an Avo dealer for calibration and treated myself to a new set of leads.

A few suggestions when putting that piece in the mill and aligning to the center punch mark. It would probably be nice to have the hole you drilled be parallel with the other holes. Do that by putting a shaft through the big hole, put that into a collet in the mill, and then adjust the table and vise to hold the part. As for aligning to the center punch mark, use a pointed cutting tool such as is used for engraving - or at worst the smallest drill bit/center drill you have. That makes lining it up MUCH easier. Then just switch back to the large drill bit.

I have a 2015 GMC 2500 with well over 100K miles and the original break pads with a lot of wear left. If you don't ride the breaks on modern trucks, the pads will last.

I can’t keep the batteries alive in my Simpson meter-they take a couple of C’s and maybe 8 AA’s. But there’s stuff you can see with a Simpson no DVM will show.
@donmadere4237

Don’t ever leave it on ohms it will drain the battery.

@@donmadere4237, That’s true with just about any multi tester, same way with my Fluke. The hardest part of that is remembering to turn it off when you’re done. Lol

@@rickdenney5772, Hmm, I’ll have to check mine and see, I just always try to remember to turn it off, and to switch from DC to AC when I switch checking things. The reason I think that not turning them off is probably from the cheap ones I used to get from Ace Hardware, I think the brand name was Gardner and cost about $15 bucks. Lol. Better than nothing and you learn how to treat them before you buy a good one.
