I'm a scientist you should invest in a closed loop system ! Vac oven with a gas recovery system or AKA if you can't afford that go online and buy vacuum purge pump stainless steel Purge pot . You can pull numerous vacuums .. open up the system to allow gas to vent Purge Purge Purge and you don't even have to hit it with the VAC pressure will pull all gases out of your concentrate without affecting any of your terpenes as well as your THC molecules ..
I run bho quite regular I believe the floaties are lipids and waxes from the plant and probably some sugars. And the advice on the unbleached coffee filters and silicone collection container is spot on. And yes too much butane will make your stuff thin also not to mention the evaporation time
I am only 19 seconds in and I already see a potential explosion. If you have the courage to make BHO never do it around any electrical equipment or anything that can generate a spark. Butane is a very heavy gas and it tends to linger and it can ignite at 35F. The safest way to do this is in a open area away from any electrical wires, outlets or anything else that can produce a spark even static electricity can cause butane to explode
In between cans, I like to shake up the extractor to make sure everything was soaked and touched by the solvent. Sometimes you can end up with a dry mid section especially if it's kinda packed in there.
Those frozen floaties in the extract is most likely water from your bud. If you make a smaller opening or several small openings more pressure will build up inside your extraction tube and literally force the THC infused solvent straight out of the holes. This will make your extraction more efficient.
@@Skunkhunt_42 it's possible but unlikely, especially if one decarbs first. I've been extracting for about a decade now and I've noticed this happens when the bud isn't dry enough, holding too much moisture. I always set my bud out to dry in the air (especially if they have moisture packs) before I extract and noticed that nice, almost "cracker dry" bud, will never have these floaties in it. This is how I've come to this conclusion. It's also frozen which strongly indicates water ice. Something to also keep in mind is that dry bud can also absorb moisture from the air so, if you do an extraction on a day with high humidity, good chance that your bud will absorb some unwanted moisture. And you'll see these floaties but they aren't anything to worry about, they evaporate away.
Definitely want to be careful as the Pyrex will burst sometime or another,use a double boiler type heat larger Pyrex with boiling water and concentrate dish floating in it!!!also try whipping it with a whipping tool(dab tool etc) .
Ok so now press the same amount of weed and see the different in yield and then after put the pressed weed in that thing run some butane through it see if theirs difference and then see how much you lose from the press left over.
Too my knowledge I believe that it is ice water.water forms from either inside with the butane or from the actual tools that hold the leaf material for blasting i.e from being inside the frazer
thats why pre warming the collection dish in a double boiler system with hot water underneath the pan, blast right into that and it boils off as you blast
These modern vacuum packers have an optional vacuum hose. I wonder if that might not give better taste to draw off the gas rather than force it off with heat. Like freeze drying, kinda😉
Here’s a pro tip. Dont smoke while you’re off gassing butane lol. That’s how that building blew up in Detroit. All those canisters were butane bottles blowing up.
Hey brother just a tip I like to blast straight into really really hot water on l double broiler set up it cuts down out the evap process and takes less time in the vac purge anyways happy blasting
Had a tube years ago, we would freeze the packed tube before we started and quit putting butane in when it started looking less yellow coming out the end
Usually a couple of hours until the tube was a little frosty, seemed like the runs that we didn't freeze it long enough it just took more butane to chill it down at the beginning
The stuff floating looks to just be your concentrate! It didn't appear to go away. A huge mat of it got poured into the dish and paper at the end. So idk I'm not a scientist lol lol
Now i understand why when i smoke dabs i get that rush like when i used to huff butane. dry cracks are only starting at the darker uncured areas...if you gave it 5 times the cure time, dry might be stronger...it's well known that the dryer the wet pour, the stronger it is.
I did the 1st part without the vacuum 10 years ago. I would then put it in a vial & use a lighter to boil it. Best oil I ever had. Out of an ounce, I would get around 5-6 grams of potent product. I also used a hair dryer to evaporate all the butane. How many grams did you get from the 2 ounces you used? I did this with my grow at the time & the strain was Northern Lights 5 X Blueberry.....
My first attempt i did an oz but it was homegrown stuff. Its difficult getting a quality result without purging it through a vacuum pump. I winterized mine after a day n a half of boiling it off on a waterbath. After a night of constantly replacing the hot water i threw her in the freezer for a bit and that was my finally product. Burnt and tasted like butane badly so i Know i fucked up by not vacuuming it off. O well better luck next time
thats only going to remove whats crashed out of solution....just go about the process as usual but defat/wax the solution afterwards with alcohol, crystal clear oil afterwards and can be forced into certain crayst states, like sap, pull and snap and shatter
Couldn't it be crystallization of some of the desirable chemicals? Chemical devolved in solvent -> solvent evaporates causing precipitation of potentially thc
@@jamesgrix2201 no it wont crash out of solution like that...the fats,waxes,and lipids do first especially with a liquid solution. even when winterizing the THC still doesnt drop out until conditions are met
I think if he would have used less butane it would have burned off faster. I have been told that one can is good enough and no more than 2 cans per push
2 cans will only do a Oz really and depends on how many trichromes are on the weed. You need to run gas through till it runs clear. The stuff floating on top of the butane is the fats from the cannabis
Gotta make it run clear or your leaving trichomes in the waste.😢 I personally like all mine out of the waste so however many that takes that's just enough.
Man my arm holding the tube always got so sore at the 4th can. I'm assuming that's a 100 gram tube from the size, looks like the same one I used to use. I always bent the teeth of a fork and whipped up my extract with it right as it starts getting really thick to de-gas and bring out the terps.
Try packing it tighter and when the color of thr liquid coming out isn't green stop ading butane oh and most important dont heat over 98 degrees the terps are distroyed at 114 degrees let it evapetate slow the darker the product the better

You are so right about how people are about selling bulshit weed but they claim it's grade A when you grow your own shit you know that you got great a shit there is so much what you say that I am the same way about, I also want to thank you because you taught me some things in this video, I had no idea how to make dabs, and I did not know that you could eat them in pill form, because that sounds like something like I want to do. @@grimreaper-fg9xz I put my Pyrex plate on top of a pot of water and let it sit there and the warm water would evap it. And it worked just fine. You can still use the hot plate to evap the left over butane

@@anthonymaize5764 pressure doesnt have much to do with it....super saturation and controlled release of gas is what causes it to crystallize, but yes jars work but break most of the time in my experience, idk if i just cant find the sweet spot or what but a metal pressure chamber i can every time in a few weeks
Do you really need 4 cans for 60 grams ??? I send mine to be extracted with 2 cans to 2 ounces and it comes out not very much but very potent but I feel as if I may be getting taken ????

I just use a pot with lukewarm water in it then I sit a stainless steel bowl in it then I spray my stuff straight into the bowl by the time I get done almost all of it has already evaporated then I only have to wait a couple minutes for the rest of it to evaporate then I'll hit it with a blow dryer to evaporate anything that is left in it using the air of the blow dryer to move it around that way I don't get that shity butane taste like most people have
I think that stuff is ice mixed with oil the ice came from moisture in the air being frozen like the frost on outside of the tube. I zoomed ahead so did you say anything about decarbing the pot first.

Soak weed in ipa 1hr strain thru cloth then re strain thru coffee filters then boil down using metal bowl placed in water in electric frypan makes thick oil u can smoke
But for anybody who plans on trying this remember you must do this with good ventilation and be sure there is no spark Source anywhere or you can have an explosion
It's not deadly/toxic when done properly. You need PURE butane. A LOT of high % THC oil in dispensaries is BHO, and it's safe. Cans can be sketchy bc you don't know what the contaminates may be. I like pressed better but the good stuff is pressed from sift or keef. Whereas butane and sometimes CO2 runs can get a similar % THC using flower. BHO made from sift is basically pure THC when done right.
Diamonds also known as THCA is an extremely sophisticated process and shouldn't be attempted by anyone who doesn't know wtf they're doing. And you need a proper blast chamber box since there is a high risk of explosions.
get a big ass pot boil some water and get a pyrex dish that fits over top of the pot and submerges into the water, it may take a bit longer but you always yield amazing crumble if you have initial good product
He's outside. Much harder to reach LEL at his height with this amount of butane. Could probly even drown his cig out in the butane liquid puddle. The key is nor allowing a vapor cloud to form an area with butane concentration between the lower explosive limit and the upper explosive limit that finds ignition source. Bigger the cloud the bigger the boom.
broooooo.....with tubes you gotta "cook it" as i always called it....when you get close to popping through the filter tip the tube upside down with the can in the top still and blast air into it for a few seconds.from the can....then flip back upside down and continue blasting, ive done tests on this with already blasted product and there is almosth nothing left afterwards. vs like how your doing ti i can still make a damn good batch of edibles with your spent bud
That butane gas is the most dangerous method for pure cowboys 🤠 easy enough with a teashirt printing press heat induction or u know u can save n buy a nug smasher
