MAKING DECISIONS IN THE GARDEN & LIFE 🌱 Life Seeds Podcast ft. The Tattooed Gardener
🌱 Your source of garden + life inspiration
🌿 Season One | Episode 2
Life seeds is the intersection of learning more about our garden and ourselves. Growth can be experienced in many different ways and can be observed in many different ways. But before growth can happen, seeds have to be planted. Today we catch up with garden expert Paul Gellatly otherwise known as "The Tattooed Gardener". Paul has incredible experience from working with the Toronto Zoo to being Director of Horticulture at the Toronto Botanical Gardens. He grew up loving to grow and we can't wait for you to hear some of his stories from childhood to now. A huge part of this conversation focuses on the difficulty of making decisions and learning when it's time to pull the trigger.

FRANKIE'S GARDEN FACT CHECK:
Which seeds are viable? The ones that sink or the ones that float? Short answer is the ones that sink are going to be more viable to germinate. (Water test: Take your seeds and put them in a container of water. Let them sit for about 15 minutes. Then if the seeds sink, they are still viable; if they float, they most likely will not sprout. This method, in my opinion, is not the best way to check your seeds. For surer results, try performing a germination test. From: www.hortmag.com/weekly-tips/h...)

Thank you so much for this. It just affirmed that it's ok to never be done in the garden and that my constant changing of ideas is ok as long as I have a fluid plan.

Great to see such passion for such a wide span of horticultural projects. Paul is on the ground floor of a potentially explosive growth (see what I did there?) industry. His expertise and excitement are so freely shared with anyone seeking him out that he will simply draw in more and more fans. Someone is going to offer this guy a show and create a new gardening celebrity in Canada!

Ok, after hearing the price of that philodendron firebird, maybe I’ll rethink that variegated string of hearts I REALLY want but is pricey for me! And a little worried I might kill...but I may just take the risk!

Patti! I would be SO worried as well! Thankfully I trust that plant in Paul's hands haha! And I thought handbags were expensive.
