What are we working on in the shop? Well, currently we have a HUGE build on our hands which is a custom bookcase. We wanted to show you guys how we put together some of the drawers using the Blum Tandem BLUMOTION Drawer Slides. These drawers were fun to make and to film! Hope YOU like it! Please comment if you have any questions on the build and if you liked the video we'd appreciate a thumbs up!
We're getting ready for our Kodee-Three Chair Build so we're offering our exclusive templates for that build for sale now.
Kodee-Three Chair Template Bundle - www.williamdouglasco.com/produ...
The Chair (Kodee-Three) build will be a step by step how-to video. This video will be released when our youtube channel hits 20,000 subscribers. If you have not yet subscribed please do and this will help everyone get one step closer to making their own legendary chair.
Package includes:
1x 3/4” MDF Rear leg
1x 3/4” MDF Front leg
+ PDF Documents with the dimensions to the seat and backrest.
*Our templates are made out of 3/4 MDF to make it very easy to use a flush trim router bit right from our template. Eliminating the need to trace and re-cut a workable template.
*Shipping is included

Love the under-mount slides- so clean! Every time I see this box joint jig, I get sad. I couldn’t get consistent results with mine so I sold it! I think it was the fault of my crappy router
@WilliamDouglasCo
@WilliamDouglasCo 4 года назад
J Nixon ah that’s a bummer to hear! I haven’t had any issues with ours so far. We just have to take the time to set it up perfectly and cut test pieces first.
@jnix112
@jnix112 4 года назад
@@WilliamDouglasCo I cut a lot of test pieces, tried different bits, and played with the setup many times. I got it almost working, but then my spiral bit kept climbing out of the collet. Thankfully I realized it before disaster, but that's when I decided it was cheaper to sell than get a better router and table.

I've wondered about that jig before. Looks pretty sweet. I don't need it since I grabbed an Incra LS for a steal at an estate sale a while back. Takes a while to dial in using test pieces, but once you have it dialed in you can batch out super fast. Last batch I did used half-blind dovetails, and I love it.

@davidjones2999
@davidjones2999 4 года назад
When I worked at a woodworking shop, we made the drawers for the same Blum slides, Hettich as well, but we didn't bother with the front and back lip. What we did was cut the groove in the side pieces for the bottom on the table saw and with the same width just raise the blade up and cut the lips completely off on front and back pieces. That way you can glue the drawer together, then slide the bottom in and we used screws to fix the bottom to the front and back. It saved time on cutting the back cut outs and the finishing was easier for the painters, because we would just slide the bottom pieces in after everything was finished and then just screw it in place and they didn't have to bother with the bottom corners. You only need to know how much thickness the finish will add so you can cut the groove wide enough so that it's still tight after assembly and not too tight that you can't slide it in.

Very nice. Let me offer a tip. When doing any type of inset panel, or drawer bottom, make it a point to finish them first.
@WilliamDouglasCo
@WilliamDouglasCo 4 года назад
Jeremy Kane thats a really good tip. In hindsight I should have done that but was thinking that I didn’t want to mix up finish for one panel. Now that I think about it I could have mixed up enough for all four.

Is that drawer front walnut veneer?
@WilliamDouglasCo

Jason Meyer yes it is. For big cabinetry type work with tend to you veneer on ply or mdf. It gives stability and consistent grain across the entire piece. Smaller things we use hardwood.
