MUSIC…I constantly get asked where I get my music from. I found Epidemic Sound to be the best. There’s a musician named ARTHUR BRUNSON. All my best songs are by him. share.epidemicsound.com/nxuhuy

Yes I have to agree. He’s one of my favorite creators. He definitely knows how to explain the problems and how to fix it simply and easy. I love using my drone. I use it all the time. And the video he did about the batteries, really opened my eyes because I was doing exactly what he said not to do. Lol. I got the DJI Mavric Mini and I got 30 to 35 minutes of battery life, Thanks to him.

Brilliant. I always smile watching you. 50 years ago, I remember my father's 8mm filming basics: keep each take for 5 seconds. In our fast-paced world, even 0.1 seconds feels like too long. It seems we have all become tired of this trend. We have lost the wisdom of pausing and reflecting. Simple is always best, whether cooking, flying, designing, or storytelling. Wabi Sabi is the way to go. It calms our nervous system, feeding our creativity and clarity. Thank you, Ted, for teaching how to see beauty in e v e r y t h i n g.

It's amazing how similar our views are. I stopped my photography hobby about 15 years ago because over time I had become more concerned with equipment than photography. I was introduced to drones through my 10-year-old son. He was given a small remote-controlled helicopter by relatives and Dad was allowed to fly it in the living room... I thought about it for a year and finally bought a Mini 3 Pro a month ago. With the aim of taking photos from a different dimension or perspective. I'm discovering the danger of weighing myself down with equipment and have to stop myself from making the same mistake I made back then. There are just so many accessories on offer. Everyone tells you "You have to have this. It will make your photos better!" But in fact, as you say: a good photo is not created by the equipment, a good photo is created by the feeling for composition and idea. I love looking at your posts... It's a shame that there's an atlas between us. I think we could have a great exchange at a meeting. Greetings from Düsseldorf, Germany. René

I definitely fall into the trap of drowning in settings before ever launching the flying camera...good advice to tap the brakes on that and focus on composition and creativity...anyone can get the settings right, not everyone can nail creativity and composition...thanks for the reminder!

So true, I get in that rut of not feeling inspired.... but sometimes I go fly anyway. I look at the footage after the fact, and not so great but cut cut cut and suddenly I get in the zone and I made something out of nothing and these are at times my proudest moments. Not the GREATEST but proud that I got my ass out and made the attempt and got decent results. Thanks again!

Great stuff as always! It’s not always easy to stay creative with a drone. Life gets in the way, you get tired, even just not being in the mood. However, when you think about it, there is no time limit on perfection. Don’t pressure yourself to greatness right out of the gate every time. You can also look for inspiration from some of your previous works. You may not always see greatness on the first look, and a little bit of editing could be the difference between an overlooked shot, and beauty. Keep up the good work Ted! You are appreciated!

Good timing. Watching your video I am overwhelmed with the choices of drones out there and making sure I get something every time I fly. Instead of flying for fun. I almost forgot why I enjoy this so much. It is damn fun! So fellow droners - remember to have fun and not just fly for pay. I am right at that point of getting back to fun! Thanks for the video.

@greatbritishbikingadventures
I have just taken delivery of a DJI Mini 3 Pro and, yes, I’ve been doing what you said and overloading myself with information. So many ‘experts’ telling me how to use manual settings to get the best out of it when I can hardly fly the thing yet! You only came up when I specifically searched for using the drone in auto mode. You confirmed my instincts - concentrate on the cinematography. I’ve literally gone from one of your videos to another. Great stuff, well presented with relevant B roll telling the story as much (if not more) than what you say. I just need to put it into practice a bit more in our future videos. Thank you, Great British Biking Adventures.

Ted is a, creative, creator. His creative exuberance is so heartening. And he makes some very good points. About getting lost in, technicalities. Of all the variables available. But Ted, like myself. Is, very, Free Form. You can find beauty in just about anything you see. If you look for it. And when you find it. You don't have time to think about, shutter speed, white balance, f-stop, ISO or anything else. You just do. You hit record and fly. You go back and repeat shots that look good. Get more than one pass more than one take. Get your safety shots. You can never have too many. But you can have too few. To keep the production interesting and moving. Because after a while. Your fingers will just know what to do. Without having to think about it. To waste time or miss the shot.. And you get a more beautiful more organic production. When you don't let all the technicalities slow you down. I am an extremely technical person. I was expert photographer. I'm an expert videographer. I was also a cinematographer. I used to work with film. And analog recording tape. I grew up in the business. It's second nature to me. At that takes years of practice. So as a musician. You would not picck up a guitar for the first time. And in 3 months. Be ready to bring your music to the world! But nobody is going to listen to a rank amateur beginner. And you don't know how to use all of the software to fix everything. As the production team for Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber do. They don't need to have any talent. They have people that know how to manipulate the software. Because their parents paid for them. To make their talentless spawn an, International Rock Star! With not a speck of talent. Because it's all in the software manipulation. As they have no talent. But their parents are multimillionaires! And they want to make their children happy. So they make them rock stars. Because it only costs about $4 million to do that. And when you are worth hundreds of millions of dollars? You pay for your kids, fun and success. Because they have no talent. They have no intelligence. They've learned nothing in school. As they all have a really bad case of Affluenza. And they don't need to learn anything! They've got, X! That will teach them everything! As they are too ignorant. Even to be able to spell, Twitter! Because now Elon has made it much simpler for them! Now they don't need to know how to spell anything! XXX! That spells 30! No? 333? I don't think so? 101010? RemyRAD

For me, it's all about the Where and the Weather. We've just had a month of intermittent rain and gusty winds in the UK. That's just a drag on even being able to go out. When we can get the chance to drive out, we like to go out into the Yorkshire Dales, where there are endless opportunities including rivers, mountains, rocks, ridges and quirky buildings. The settings almost don't matter at all, because with a few edits you can always get a good story out of the footage.

I’m a middle aged fella and what I’ve finally started to learn is that most people spend the first half of anything: complicating it, then after some experience & wisdom ….then they start simplifying. Ted, I just loved the FART at 60 seconds into your video. That was precious. And so well-timed. And such a perfect volume level. Not too loud. Not too soft. Just right! It was perfect! I just love your creative enthusiasm. Yes! And this kind of flying cinematic camera was my dream! Too bad I haven't gotten one yet. Other than a toy my brother got me for $30. Ugh! Oh, it flies. About as well as a blind drunk person. Flying a plane. Look out! This $30 toy drone. Has about as much stability as Donald Trump. As it acts more like a roller coaster. Without a brain. And without tracks. And so the only place that's going to go is on top of my neighbors roof. And I don't think my neighbor would like that, Yogi. It's okay boo-boo. I've got it in the Pic-a-Nick basket. So one of these days I'll get the Mini-3 Pro. Or maybe the 4? Or may be the 3 on sale? I have considered the 2. But the features on the 3 Pro are so much better. It does what the 2 can't. And the primary reason why I didn't knee-jerk and get the 2. I like waiting to see what they come up with. They have gotten so good! They just blow everybody else away. They have been so well thought out and well executed. It just makes me wonder. Why so many other drone manufacturers. Really can't come up with anything close at a reasonable cost. Has there is almost no reason. To own their more expensive versions. Except for high-end professional applications. The quality of the video and the picture has gotten that good. It puts most everybody else to shame. And everybody gets their parts from the same manufacturers overseas. So I don't understand the problem or the differences? And why nobody else can seem to compete with DJI? As the others are basically disappointing. And what they don't do. What they can't do. And the quality of the picture says it all. As they are all using the same Sony sensors. So it's all in the electronics and the programming. They can't get right. At the other manufacturers. And why? These aren't that much more than flying cell phone electronics. That have been better tweaked for this application. And they've done an incredible job. The dynamic range and the resolution is, stunning. This didn't exist a few years ago. They have made great inroads. They have created a market for this,, exciting and relaxing hobby and profession. That people only over the age of 16 should fly. Just like any other vehicle that's powered. Aunt they need to create different grades of, drone licensing. To have one blanket license. Makes no sense. Why would you need to know how to drive a semi tractor-trailer. When all you need to drive is your car? When you don't fly an airplane. But ride a motorcycle instead. You get separate licensing to ride a motorcycle. But you don't have to get a pilots license. To ride a motorcycle. And so for amateur hobby flyers. They should have an entry-level license. With plain and concise restrictions. And if they have to build that programming into the drones? Then that's what they have to do. So you don't end up flying it at your local municipal airport. And to stay out of marked outdoor sports venues. And so perhaps. Businesses will have to invest in RF jammers. To keep drones away. Kind of like a force field. As we may as well start using those now. To keep people from flying where they should not. As amateur hobbyists. Then for the more industrial folks. They get a more advanced license. With different restrictions and allotments. And they purchase a larger more professional drone. That cost substantially more. And this solves the problem. Just like other pilots licensing. Some are, VFR. Some are Instrument Only. Some are multiengine. Some are turboprops. Some are jets. Each requires different licensing to fly. Why not also drones? As they come in all sorts of different sizes and capabilities. And the tiny ones can't do what the really big ones can. But it's almost like everybody at the FAA is completely blind and stupid, also. Along with the folks from the FCC. And none of them can get together. And work anything out. As they all act like children. And they don't know how to communicate. They can't work out anything. They can only repeat, stupidity. And stay with stupid mindless routines. Because they cannot, think. They are going, extinct. And they don't realize it yet. And so when we get to the point where we cannot effectively function. That's it. That's the end. That's the end of all of us. Because it's never going to be perfect. Like crazies want it to be. No government is perfect. And the only difference between the USA and other governments around the world? Is, that the other governments are terribly corrupt. And the United States is not as corrupt. And that's the only difference. Either way? They all suffer from corruption. And so the only way the corruption will go away? Is when, AI becomes fully implemented. As humans are not intelligent enough. To figure out what to do for themselves. Homo sapiens need Artificial Intelligence. Because ours is waning and disappearing. And nobody can get together on anything anymore nor compromise. It all has to be one extreme or the other extreme. Nothing can be right down the middle. That most Americans want and are. But no! Extremists on the right side. Want to disrupt all Americans lives they don't like! As they believe that will make America better. No it will not. It'll flush us down the toilet. Where they belong! And so we need to send them down, first! And flush! Flush that shit away! And them along with it. Things are not going well in our country. And they will look to prevent anybody from making beautiful cinematic flying videos. They look to oppress all of us. To have their perfect Nazi fascist ways! And we are in deep deep trouble. This is no joke. These crazed fascists are coming unraveled. They are crazed to take over! And they are all like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ted Cruz. Making zero, sense. Which is all Republicunt's make, zero sense. To destroy Americans and America. Just like Nazis would and tried. They did it 80 years ago. They are doing it again. They don't care about history. They want to repeat the world's worst history. This is what stupid people do. They cannot learn anything. They refuse, to learn anything. Except how to hate other Americans they don't like.. Which they are very good at. And why they need to be, expelled from the USA. There is no place for their kind of hatred toward other Americans in the USA. Time to go bye-bye. Time to go, dead. Because that's what they want. That is what they are demanding from us all. To end their miserable lives in the USA. Because they cannot live next door to a liberal. They cannot tolerate that. (More turds in next post)

Hello Ted .... you are so damn right with you way of thinking in maximize the footage creativity with drones than waisting time in technical details. But there is still one thing I am struggling with - flying my drone in Germany means checking one million rules when flying near streets, buildings, people, in total interesting locations. And every time when I am in action, I get distracted when someone wants to know what I am doing here, what I am filming and if I have a legitimation to do this. This is annoying and disctracts me from any valid creativity flow. How are you handling this? Different situation in USA? Or is this the reason why you are flying during sunrise or sunset ... (maybe during this period of time the most germans are still in bed or watching TV) ... Greetings from Germany and I love your channel so much!!!

Hi Ted - I really agree about simplicity in doing drone shots. I tried doing everything manually, shooting in D-Cinelike mode and color grading later. It was too long of a process and the improvement in the videos were very marginal. One of the things that got me getting back into drone photography was getting the DJI remote. Just being able to turn the drone and the remote on and flying was so much easier than linking my iPhone to the remote, turning off all Bluetooth devices because of interference and turning off all notifications on the phone. It is so much easier now to just get flying and be creative. Love your videos , your creativity and your thought process.

@@TedNemeth yes are so right. I would watch other videos on drone cinematography and be so wrapped up in this setting and that setting, is this the right settings, and what ND filter should I use. Wow, it got so complex it was taking all the fun out of my drone shooting.

You are so awesome! once again you inspired me to just go out and put the drone up in the air. I just moved to Colombia 🇨🇴 will be listening to all your videos again to get back to simplicity and the storyline! Thank-you so much. Question: when you take your snap shots is it a “picture” or do you “freeze” your video? ( if you freeze the video how do you do it on LumaFusion?🙏🏼) Keep being You! You’re changing peoples lives for the better and you don’t even realize it!
@TedNemeth
@TedNemeth Год назад
ahhh man you wrote the kindest note here brother. thank you. Yes you are correct I simply do a “frame grab” for a photograph. Because i know I do this…..when I see a really beautiful composition where I know I’m probably going to pull a frame from it….I’ll make sure the drone is not moving for a few seconds. This gives me 24 frames (photos) every second to choose from. Or if I’m filming in 60fps it gives me 60 photos every second to choose from.

Listen up, man! I've seen it all, a deranged circus of aerial chaos that'll make your head spin faster than a DJ's turntable. We're talkin' drone pilot burnout, and it ain't no walk in the park. It's like an unending flatulence symphony, man, a never-ending release of pressure that'll leave you gasping for breath. You start out in this trippy world, exhilarated by the freedom of the skies. The power at your fingertips, it's like you're controlling some wicked, mechanized dragon. It's a hell of a rush, man, like inhaling a canister of nitrous oxide. But soon, the novelty fades, and the grind sets in. It's a cruel master, this drone game. The constant demand for precision, the hours of staring at screens like a man possessed by the ghost of Timothy Leary. You lose yourself in the digital abyss, the drone's buzzing propellers becoming the soundtrack of your troubled mind. You fly, and you fly, and you fly, man. It never ends. Your social life disintegrates like a fart in the wind, and your body aches from sitting on your ass for hours on end. But you can't stop, oh no, because you're hooked. It's like a bender of bad burritos and cheap whiskey, you can't break free from this mind-numbing cycle. And then, the accidents happen. One wrong move, and it's a symphony of crash and burn, like an explosive release of flatulence echoing through the canyons. The pressure builds, and your nerves are shot to hell. You're jumpy, paranoid, like a twitchy lab rat on a questionable substance cocktail. Yet, you push on. The world becomes a swirling haze of pixels and paranoia, like trying to navigate through a smoggy thunderstorm. You can't see clearly, man, your judgment clouded by the toxic mix of exhaustion and adrenaline. But sooner or later, it all comes crashing down. Your mind, once sharp as a razor, is now a blunt spoon scraping the bottom of a pudding cup. Your creativity, your passion, all sucked into the black hole of drone monotony. In the end, you're left with a shell of a person, just like an empty fart that dissipates into nothingness. The burnout consumes you, and you wonder if you'll ever be the same again. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. But one thing's for sure, man - drone pilot burnout is a wild ride through the turbulent skies of the human mind.

@TedNemeth
@TedNemeth 11 месяцев назад
David what an incredibly kind thing to say. I truly appreciate it because I’m still trying to figure out my voice/style on camera. Great to hear it’s starting to resonate. Yes I hand launch almost entirely. Tips? only that if you launch and its a little windy….make sure the wind will bow the drone away from your face. Pro tip. I guess the other thing I noticed is when it’s landing….I like to grab the body of the drone instead of having it land in my flat hand. Just more secure that way. Thanks again David and welcome aboard sir!
