Hi Ted, I recently replaced my Mini 2 with the Air 3. It was a tough decision, but carrying the extra weight for the 70mm lens is absolutely worth it. I actually use the 70mm lens more than the wide-angle lens. Great video!

Just speculation & wishful thinking. I doubt M5P will get e a true 1" sensor, too big. They have to keep it under 250g and affordable. I have the M4P and it's been great, but it feels so flimsy and light. I have a DJI Spark, remember those? It is heavy and feels very solid.
@TedNemeth
@TedNemeth 2 часа назад
hey buddy. Are you saying the M4P feels light & flimsy while in your hand? …or light and flimsy while flying/recording? I have the M3P and that thing is super stable even in high winds. Just my personal experience.

the Air 3s gets the 1 inch sensor from what i read and i cant imagine that there will be a mini version with a one inch sensor for the european market. It has something to do with the Law and guidlines here in europe. All new drones have to have a certification to be flown anywhere. The Air models are the only ones you can fly in aeas where people are living like cities and villages etc.. without having to bother you might have to pay a penalty (A Phantom or an Mavic 2 or An Avata 1 your just allowed to fly far away from people since this year). The new certified mavics are very difficult to get up in the air without limitations, even if you have a license and a permission from the government. So, I think just marketing-wise, there will always be this sensor-difference between the Air and the Mini. At least for the european market.

Hello Ted, Thanks once again for your very inspiring words about the world of drones in which we "flying filmmakers" find ourselves. I can easily do without the Mini 5 Pro, mainly because, just like you, the Mini 3 Pro delivers perfectly. Being able to upgrade is always nice, but I couldn't wait any longer. As we neared the end of 2023, I had to replace my Air 2 with a drone that had a C-certification. This is only important here in Europe, but for me, it was crucial. Without taking this step, I would have been limited to flying in open fields only. My dream was the then relatively new Air 3, but the budget was tight, if it even fit at all. A little bit of risk never hurts, right? So, I decided to go down this path: I bought a used, broken Mavic 3 (dual camera). I had heard from various sources, or more precisely from not always very accurate reports in a Facebook group, that even without Care Refresh, DJI offers fair prices if the drone's internal components are not destroyed. The gimbal was broken, the motors needed replacing, and two legs were snapped. It was a pitiful sight... But my plan worked out: including the additional purchase of a used Fly More Combo, I was able to pick up a brand new, factory-sealed Mavic 3 with a 4/3 Hasselblad CMOS sensor from the post office. Even as I write this, it still sounds like music to my ears. A wonderful bird, indeed at the end for USD 1500. But now to you. Stand up on your hind legs for a moment and give it another try. Based on my distant assessment, your Mini 3 Pro might be suffering from a rare but occasionally occurring issue known as the "jello effect." The few times I've read about it, people were successful in getting a replacement drone. Well, the warranty has likely expired by now, and that's an obstacle. Still, I'm flying my Mini 3 Pro in its third year, and it feels like it's flying just as well as on day one. Do me a favor and give it another shot. It would be terrible publicity for DJI to let such a jello effect go unrepaired and ignored. However, it does require a somewhat persistent drone owner, and I see in my crystal ball that they will send you a replacement unit...

Damn and I just bought the mini 4 pro. Honestly I would guess a larger sensor will add more weight putting it over 250g. But if they can make it work that would be great.. however I really hope they add pro res recording option if they do that. dlogm is great.. but if they're going to have a much bigger sensor why waste it on h.265. Need that prores or dnxhr recording option to make good use of it.

Great insights and projection of the mini 5. We may want to expect more than 5k, say at least 6k like Autel has already done and an upcoming competitor in the selfi/mini market is ZeroZero Robotics which I have just ordered their Hover X1 Pro Max that shoots at 8K! far under 249g with 16min flight time and fully encases rotors that the whole unit will fit in your pocket, oh and full obstacle avoidance.

@TedNemeth
@TedNemeth 6 дней назад
hey Mike. You say the camera is a lot better in the mini 4 versus the Mini 3. I did an ACTUAL side-by-side comparison of the footage in different light settings. My testing showed they were exactly the same in day light and in low light. The Mini 4 was a little better at night. But in low light they are exactly the same. I stopped reading marketing specs and only believe what my actual testing shows. You say you plug a large screen into the controller of your Mini 4. I LOVE THAT. I used to fly my Mini 2 with a 12” Ipad. Wow I miss that. A firmware update in the RC1 controller deleted that ability.

What you're saying in this video reminds me of what annoys me about movie score tutorials. All those RU-vid videos on writing 'epic movie scores' sound the same... big heavy drums, low brass, and fast strings. They are all Hans Zimmer clones and it's rare to find RU-vidrs who write melodic and harmonious music like John Williams, James Horner, etc.

Waypoints = "micro improvement?" 360 degree obstacle avoidance = "micro improvement?" Seems like somone's rationalization is in overdrive.
@TedNemeth
@TedNemeth 6 дней назад
hey Ernie. Everything is relative. To me….waypoints is not important at all. And my personal experience with the obstacle avoidance in my Mini 3 is that it’s useless. It does not actually work in about 90% of flying instances. Adding sideways obstacle avoidance in the Mini 4…it still doesn’t work in Sport mode. It still will not detect small branches and cables. But to you Waypoints and some features might be a big deal. In the beginning of the episode I stated the episode is not an exhaustive test….its just my opinions based on me kicking it around during some real world tests. I am NOT the Gerald Un-Done of drones.

Finally the one person who looks at a cinewoop or a 4k camera drone as a tool for a cinematographer to use, not as Mr techie drone nerd now having to be pro at something else, when all I care about is the shot and the composition. Those other youtubers literally aren't photographers or videographer. They are drone guys gone nuts call call in cine, cut their footage to get some good shots, and show footage after they've been flying for years. Race tumbling and fast swoops isn't cine, its fpv racing trying to do as many tricks as possible. When cine is smooth, slow and methodically every second and angle is though of, practiced, and done 20 times. Not fpv whip around and prey for good footage isn't a the point of a cinewoop not will it be able to do the angles at buttery smooth controlled shots unless you have a separate camera lens operator which those tiny cinewoops don't have.
