Variable target foam is often used by archers as target backing and can be mixed to be very hard, dense foam or very soft, squidgy foam depending on your need. These will make excellent targets when mixed soft or medium.
To much effort for a rubbish target. Sorry mate. Ive been shooting everything that can fire for 30 years and this is silly. I might do my own videos to show some really cool reactive targets.
Honestly, you can get it all done in 10 mins and be out on the range - the foam sets really quickly. I mixed the yellow ones up too tough, softer wouldn't deform at all. The big bonus doing it this way is that you can mould any shape you want - targets or animals etc.
