A baby bird taps me on the feet when I wasn't looking and then takes food from my hand (Homesite: wp.me/P2KLp8-i1j ) ( To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please email licensing@storyful.com)
No, you, do your research, rabies is mammal specific, birds can occasionnally be infected (but it is extremely rare) but they do not developpe the disease (hence I'd like to know how you could possibly detect the presence of the virus by just looking at a bird) nor transmit it
and stop spreading rumours as well, we're not in resident evil! Some birds have been known to be infected with rabies by eating the carcasses of rabid animals, however birds DO NOT developpe the disease. As well, that bird on the video is not old, it's a juvenile one, it's quite visible by thecolor of the inside of its beak, old ravens and crows have the inside of the beak black, not rosy nor yellow.
The crows have accepted you as part of their flock. They have entrusted you to feed one of their young children. Crows are truly the most fascinating birds.
I recently befriended a family of jackdaws and they're almost comfortable enough to eat from my hand. They're really clever birds and I'm sure they recognise my face. They're always flying over towards me when I go outside for a smoke and we "communicate".
Robin crows are actually really good at remembering and recognizing faces, they're very smart birds so I'm sure they do remember your face and probably look forward to seeing you!
Jackdaws are part of the corvid family, like magpies, ravens and crows. They all have remarkable memories, for more than just faces; they remember people who are kind to them, and people who are cruel, and will teach their families about each, so both friendships and grudges can be multi-generational with those birds.
You are a kind sweet man. The crows are special and smart. I feed them but keep them at distance because of uneducated neighbors.. Too many see them as bad omen when they are so delightful and appreciative. This crow is definitely your buddy.
Stephanie In the wild Crows can actually distinguish individual humans from each other. You treat them well and you'll get special treatment from them. Conversely, they'll only harass specific people that harm them.
That crow has an unheard of relationship with you. I say that because most (almost all) crows are extremely cautious. It is strange its parents aren't nearby. I wonder where they are? I would suspect if they were nearby, they would have made a warning caw and the baby crow would have left as soon as you opened the door to go outside.
I feel this crow had taken his first flight and lost his way (and parents). I suspect he'd been watching me feeding our chickens and thought I could help.
Oh that's so sad! I hope he's doing okay now. I have a crow who comes to me for food but still is very cautious. He does talk to me with lots of interesting sounds. I hope this little guy is doing okay.
That's so wonderful! I have a family of crows visiting my backyard daily. They can be up to 7 of them at times. I feed them shelled unsalted peanuts. They are very cautious, I watch them carefully from my windows. I'd love to get to interact with one up close like that, much less a baby! Have you seen it anymore lately?
We’ve been building a relationship with a flock of crows for years. They follow me, flying from tree to tree above me while I walk home from school. They’re incredibly smart and I consider them family.💕
Crows are probably the smartest birds around. They learn from watching other crows and they are very cautious around humans, apparently he or they have been watching you feed other birds and has learn to trust you. Crows never forget what what you did or do for them, if you're kind and feed them they will become a life long friend but if they see you run other crows off the never forget that. Crows teach their young for up to eight years and more, their so very smart they can figure anything out and it doesn't take them long. Thank you for being kind to the little one may God bless you Sir...
Yeah.. they are known to hold grudges against those who harm them or their group. Pretty sure there was a story somewhere of someone getting swooped at hit with rocks dropped from the sky because of it. But if you're friendly they'll do you a like
Crows have a very complex linguistic vocabulary, and often hold social gatherings. It would not be unlikely that, assuming you'd fed other crows in your area, they have already been told by other crows that you are capable of supplying nourishment.
I’m currently trying to befriend (or at least establish a mutual relationship) with my neighbourhood crows. After doing some research and watching a few videos I’ve been encouraged to pursue this and decided this’ll be my 2018 goal. I absolutely love this video! It’s so cute and inspirational!
Once upon a time, it was an extremely cold day, & I put an abundance of cat food out for the Crows. The head Crow checked it out carefully and ate 1 piece. Then, he proceeded to call out from up on top of a tree. A flock of Starlings came. They took turns eating. When they had their fill, the Crow called out and they flew away. He called out again. Other crows echoed his call in the distance. Another flock of Starlings came. & left. & so on, & so on. Beautiful. This went on all day, a big bag of cat food was devoured and the head Crow flew away. We're still friends. He recognizes me. I love him very much and I know that I'm not the only generous one out there! 😊
Though still quite young, this crow is already engaging with the human who's talking to him and giving him food. Crows are amazingly intelligent birds. 😁
Repeating something i just saw on a show about crows and ravens. They are extremely smart birds, they also learn from eachother so if there is one crow/raven thats seen by other crows/ravens while being fed, the others will come aswell because they saw you feed one crow/raven. Have a nice one buddy^^
“Crows remember human faces. They remember the people who feed them, who are kind to them. And the people who wrong them too. They don’t forget. They tell each other who to look after and who to watch out for.” ~Leigh Bardugo, Crooked Kingdom
Step 1: befriending crows Step 2: storm into baby showers and curse the infant to fall into eternal sleep by picking fingers on a spindle Step 3: make a great exit with flames and stuff
Where I used to live (moved one and a half year ago) I used to feed dog bites to the nearby crows while walking my dogs, and since dog food is usually plenty nutricious I kept it on, and I ended up having up to five crows walking beside me and my dogs (who were without leash). I could hand feed them and had them accompany me the whole walk. It was quite entertaining, lol.
Crows have been demonstrated by scientist in Seattle, WA, USA, to recognize people, to identify those who are kind to them, and those who threaten them, and to communicate these findings to other crows. Word will spread about you being a friend of crows! There are videos here on RU-vid documenting how crows who establish trust with humans will in fact start bringing them trinkets and leave them as gifts. One little girl started saving and categorizing all the trinkets, organizing them in trays. Crows are incredibly intelligent animals.
Crows also make gifts. This guy consistently fed a nesting pair and their babies for about two years, and they left him two small pine branches with pull tabs threaded into them. Look it up!
I saw that show on pbs and live in Seattle, Wa we have a huge crow population. I am friends with the ones who live in my neighborhood and they surely recognize me and will come up cautiously. They are communicative and appreciative when I feed them. Their overall intelligence is under appreciated and they are amazing birds.
I used to dig up worms constantly for a group of chickens. They took the worms and still always hated me lmao. The flock of crows that’s befriended my family has been wonderful though. A couple of them are always near by when I go on walks.
There's this butcherbird that flies up to my nana's house every morning and perches on her head for some food. It's been doing it for ages and the whole family of birds have quickly become friends with them and honestly it's the most wholesome thing
My mum is crazy about the magpies that hang around our house. Whenever they start singing in the front garden my mum will drop everything, run to the fridge, grab the cat's food (usually ham) and rush outside to feed them. She's got two that she regularly feeds, Tutu and Slim Jim. Tutu has a broken beak on top so her tongue always pokes out, which worries us cus her tongue gets dry sometimes. Slim Jim, we suspect, might be Tutu's son. When mum first saw him she was like "thats a handsome young fella" so she called him Slim Jim. They are very good birdos :)
Oh, I knew they are carnivorous, however, I've not seen them eating...there's quite a few around the school where I teach here in California. They're very intelligent birds.
Trump's never been in a legal OR military branch of government, he is a COMPLETE failure as a business man (he has repeatedly bankrupted his business through incompetence, if you see a business with his name on it doing well it's because it's being run by some other company with his brand being licensed). Trump's administration isn't any better. I won't get into the specifics because I honestly don't have time. So I'm going to say just look it up. Fire and fury is NOT something you want in someone when leading ANY country. I'm sure it all sounds good for show and tell, but Presidency is a hard, TEDIOUS job that is NOT for the stupid (Buchanan), the corrupt (Nixon), the frail (William Harrison) or the just plain incompetent (Warren Harding). This goes for ANY form of government, from "Supreme Penguin of Space Emperors" (I made it up, for the inevitable Captain Obvious who says that isn't a real form of government because they're a drooling idiot) to "whoever won the tribal moot".
Thomas Paine however, the amount of grey matter wich is the substance containing the majority of the neurons is really low by dolphins so they aren’t as smart as they could potentially be. Crows however have a completely unique brain region wich gives them the increased intellect, especially when you consider that it’s a scavenger not a predator bird
The reason those birds follow you and come for food is because crows are incredibly smart and can kind of "describe" your appearance to other crows, because you've been kind to them, they know they are safe around you
I totally love crows and ravens, they are awesome birds. Incredibly intelligent, amazingly social and interactive, it's actually not too hard to make friends with crows. Like a dog they can really tell if you're a friend to their kind or not, and yes the word does spread among them. I used to feed and look after them every day. They even knew my car and would follow me home from work. Glad you like them too. Thanks for posting the video
I remember as a kid I befriended a pair of robins in my garden. They were the cutest little birbs ever!! It's great to see birds and animals trusting humans and sharing happiness to people.
My boyfriend and I recently saved a small crow that was abandoned by its mother. She ate out of our hands and would fly from trees to my shoulder. She was sick and died shortly after but we have her the best life we could.
I remember when I was young there was a family of magpies, and they were abandoning there chick because it was injured. We waited a while to see if they come back but no. So we picked her up and kept her inside, took her to the vet , and she has been at our house ever since. She even made a family of her own
Only just out of the nest for a few weeks. They a cared for and educated by their parents for a year, so where are the parents as they aren't around as they'd be freaking out and yelling at you and the baby Crow. I rescued one this young from a road and was dive bombed and pecked at the whole time until I'd let it go where it would be safe. It's looking for an adoptive parent. I had one in a similar situation that was 9 months old and it ended up being the family pet for just over 10 years. They know when they're onto a good thing. Humans provide regular meals on demand, made up of nice cooked food and provide entertainment, shelter at night and a free grooming service. Compared to life in the wild 24/7 it's wonderful.
Crows, also known as the black cats of the sky. Because that's what I just decided to go with. Quite the kind soul, both you and the birds. Keep up the benevolence, mate, and God bless ye.
My Dream! Crows and Ravens fascinating... hopefully some day I will make friends with one! Once one crow decides that you are safe, they will tell the other crows! This according to scientific research on crows.
Awwww !!! Thank you so much for feeding the lovely young crow. You are a kind, compassionate, caring man with beautiful thoughtfulness that shines through.🤗🤗 I LOVE crows with ALL of my heart and have never really understood the FOOLISH bad omen stuff from misinformed people. Crows (and ravens) are the VERY BEST for me and it's so nice to see them treated with the kindness, caring, respect, and reverence they so RIGHTLY DESERVE. ❤❤❤
yeah, cats, like crows can imitate sounds, specially the sounds of their prey, my first cat used to imitate the sound of pigeons in an attempt to attract them and chase them every time I let him climb onto the rooftop of my parents house
Qufox it’s a baby Crow as I have a Raven they sound really different. The Raven call is REALLY loud . That one is sort of sweet. His beak is a lot smaller too.
Young crows are like demanding children .Their vocalisations are like a cat crossed with heaven knows what .They are great fun to watch .Love the way the parents stand so much and now more .Hope his family found him or could be they had had enough .Crows are amazing :)👍
I like birds. Especially crows/ravens. Some people are afraid of them because of superstitions, but I think they're remarkable animals. Clearly intelligent and very beautiful.
I had a crow when my daughter was going to school. Every morning when I'd get out side to bring my daughter to school, he'd say good morning, cawing. I said Well, good Morning to you, too! He was happy to get a good morning. He followed us from our backyard to a park not froom home, and waited. Then, as we exited the park, and headed to school, he fly from rooftop to rooftop, finally landing in a fie;ld next to the school. Then, as I went to hang out laundry, and he's in the tree "talking" away! isaid if you are that frienly, come down, and say hi! He did! I was amazed
Adult crows eat many things (meat, fruit, grain). They'll rummage through human domestic waste for anything. I've seen them take a lid off a bin, fly off with a fried chicken carcass in their claws and then eat it in a tree. Baby crows would be receiving a mix of what their parents find (including fried chicken!).
If there young please only give them dry dog food that's been moistened in water don't give them any water at all they will drown they can only drink water on there own dog food has all the thing's a young bird need's
Awww, 's a cute. I hate it that most people dislike crows and jackdaws, they're so smart! (And cute) glad to see this one's found a great friend like you. Personally I've got two groups I tend to stick with, one at home and one near my work. The ones at home even fly over when they see me to get some food, and presumably say hi (x
