Pro-Tip. Adding 25% greenish - green grapes, you do not need the pectin. Alternative, peal 4 granny smith apples and add the peals to the boil. No need for chemically processed pectin.
Can't remember where I read it but you can also use grape leaves for the pectin. Might want to google that just to make sure and see how much. Jesus bless
I'm so glad I came across this video. I use to make jelly and wine with my grandfather ( he passed away😢) I been sitting here for the past few days trying to remember how to make the jelly I remember parts but not everything. Thank you for this
If you can it properly and get a seal, it should last a few months easy. Store it in a cool dry place and it should be fine. Look for another video on how to can it and get the seal properly

She really need to state that they are different types of sure gel and if you follow her recipe you need to use the same box(pink) cause I use the yellow which calls foe way more sugar. You always don't do the sure gel the way she did for the yellow box.
I recently cleaned out my freezer and had a bunch of blueberries and raspberries that I cooked down an extracted the juice. can I use this same process to make jelly with that or is there an issue with that type of berry? there were no recipes on the pectin I had.?
If they are allergic to dairy that's all they can use, plant/veggie based. Granddaughter cab only use that. I have to use "butter" in her gluten free recipes and yeah. She's allergic to dairy AND has Celiac.

It at least lasted a month, we’ve got a Lotta folks in our house so the stuff disappeared pretty quick. It probably wouldn’t last as long as the stuff you get from the store because there’s no preservatives in there. I hope this answers some of your questions
If you didn’t process then aka boil them for like 5-10 minutes after canning only up to 6 months. If you do boil them they’ll be good for up to a year from everything I e read on grape and strawberry jelly. I made my own strawberry jams and I’m on my last jar and it’s almost 3 months old and still has the same great consistency and taste and the first jar
my mom used to add a small amount of parafine to each jar, and they lasted several years and tasted freshly made. I found a few jars she made after she passed away they was 5 yrs old from date of them made, I opened one up and was so yummy. as long as the seal is not broke they will lasts several years
@@livefree6878 after she put the juice into the jars she added the parafine to the top of jelly, put lid on it and waited for each one to pop That tells you it was sealed then tightened lid down and stored.
I made this yesterday I followed your directions precisely they have been in the refrigerator for about seven and a half hours and have not jelled any ideas why? Is it because I messed it up or do they just need to be refrigerated longer Very disappointing
Same, we followed the directions from the video and the jelly didn't set either. On our second batch we used the directions on the box and it set perfectly over night. The directions from the video is for low sugar Sure Jell (pink box) if you use the original Sure Jell (yellow box) you will need to use more sugar. This is an important distinction that isn't made in the video.
Say what???? My sure Jell says 5 cups of juice and 7 cups of sugar. I am finding that Sure Jell has different sugar amounts each year or who knows. Sounds like way too much sugar. Any thoughts anybody????
I tried last year and used 1/2 the amount asked for on the first batch... Didn't set and got thick syrup. Used the full amount on second match and got perfect jelly! Go figure
My grandma and mom did the same. Hot wax gently over the back of a spoon. Seals the jam in the jar 🫙. Flat & ring all done. Buuut who else’s mommas saved the wax ? Cut it to get it out wash with soap and water and in the bowl to add to next year’s jam 😂. My grandma had 11 kids my mom had 5. We didn’t waste Anything!
You gotta know what your time is worth. Commerce means you trade what you have for what you don't. That's how a society works. No one ant has to lift the entire colosseum.
Wow!!!!! Spent an entire morning using this video as reference for making jelly. No where was it mentioned about pink box versus yellow box. Jelly did not set!!!!! What a disappointment. 😡
