Looks delicious Brooke! Thanks for the reminder to go out and battle the yellow jackets for my grapes. For my grape jelly I leave a few of the larger good looking green ones, as well. They add some more pectin, which helps it jell, and a bit of tartness. Last year I harvested a few pounds of crab apples and canned up my own liquid pectin. I'm going to use that for my jelly this year. It will be my first time. Wish me luck!

This is my family (Amish & Mennonites) recipe. Do NOT toss out the pulp after juicing. Take pulp and run thru Victoria Strainer using grape screen. The sauce that comes out, treat as apple sauce but it's suppose to be a bit sweet tart. Freezing is great but can water-bath can for 10 min. Run the pulp thru twice. The remains are great for chickens and/or compost. This is so wonderful! And there is no waste on the grapes🤩🍇. Happy eating😋 Brook🙋🍏🍎

Loved the videoBree, takes me back to watching my mom and grandma making jelly when I was a little boy 60 some odd years ago. Seem to remember that they sealed the jars with paraffin and when the wax hardened, they would cover the jars with a little square of cloth. We would make jelly from all the local berrys that we picked including elderberrys and wild cherrys. So good.

This reminds me of when I was a teenager and Mom made the grape jelly from Grandpa's Concord grapevines. And also the homemade sourdough bread . ( made from the sourdough starter that she had for years. It got better with age) That all stopped as the 7 of us kids left home. We had a freestone pear tree that was so loaded we were always afraid it would break under the weight of so many pears. Mom made pear honey. Delicious !!! I used to do some canning and jelly making. Maybe I will again. Still reeling from the loss of my soulmate. 😭

Hey Brooke you need to get a fruit steamer!! It takes away all that straining.. I love mine it's my most favorite canning gadget! You can use it for grapes, and all other fruits.. I've used it for crabapples, elderberries and sometimes I clean the older fruit out of my freezer and I put it all through the steamer and make a mixed fruit jelly with the juice! I can send you photos of it in action if you like.. Let me know..

Oh yum, thank you for showing us how to make grape jelly. Im going to give it a go. I moved to Germany and discovered an Elderberry tree/bush across the road from where we live in the countryside. I Googled how to make Elderberry Syrup, and made it myself. It was so easy. I was so thrilled. I made my 1st 3 bottles last year, and my second 3 bottles in around June this year. Then I discovered our piece of wild, overgrown plot had wild blackberries growing on it. Yay. I picked those. I used 1:1 jam sugar. I weighed the berries, then measured the same weight in sugar. And in a 10 mins, I made my first little batch of blackberry jam. It was so wonderful and rewarding.. I felt all proud of myself in a good way. Sometimes we doubt ourselves. Oh, and I just found a second hand food dehyrator. 👌That was on my bucket list for years. They are very hard to find where I live. My next first, is to dehydrate some fruit, etc. So, thank you Brooke for inspiring us with everything you do, and making it fun. 💖 You have to get outside, go exploring, or go thrifting to find those treasures. Finding food is also treasure. Hugs to the fur babies. Love to everyone, all the way from Germany.

My mom would freeze the juice in empty ice cream buckets and add to it as more grapes ripened and were processed. My favorite part was getting into the frozen juice when no one was looking and scraping a bunch out with a spoon to eat as a treat. (Then my mom would gripe at me for getting into it). :)
