As a 20-year-old British soldier in Germany in 1970, I had a pair of oxford brogues made like this by an artisan, they cost me a month's pay, I wore them in uniform as they were the same pattern as issued shoes to Scotts and Ghurkha regiments, I still have them they fit beautifully, they have been re-soled just the once, by the regimental cobbler of the Royal Scotts Dragoon Guards in 1979 , who double soled them as per the regimental orders
I love watching a master at work. So many people could add themselves to the making of something such beauty if only there were taught to appreciate fine craftsmanship and the joy of creating things of beauty. Mr. Kim is a master. I hope he has more than a few understudies to carry on the tradition of fine shoe-making. If I had the money, I would have a pair made, never worn but on the shelf to be admired.
Someone that makes something so difficult, look easy deserves the title master.. Mr Kim is a master! Unbelievable precision and technique.. 1/3 artistry, 1/3 craftsmanship & 1/3 master tradesman.
That was a great video. When I look back every town had at least one shoe maker doing similar work . A very fine pair of shoes that will last a life time.
@@jag8901 probably more. I would say between $1,500-$2,000. I build custom Nikes and Jordan's and those cost $1,000+ to build and there is alot more work involved in the build of handcrafted dress shoes. Such an awesome process. I cant wait to try this one day soon.
It’s not an inapt comparison, but, I had the Brooks Brothers version of this style of shoe for all of the 1990s working in banking in Asia. They did service in Singapore, HK, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, Jakarta, Manila, Guangzhou and even Beijing. They stood up to every bit of rain, dirt, night club, running for a train or plane, dodgy go-go bar, even weekend duty. They thrived. Much better than cap toe/oxfords, brogues, or any other design. Great shoes and even better custom made.
As an American man who chooses not to have television in my home, watching Terry Kim create these shoes with pure artistry, beats any television program one could sit and watch. I also have my degree in fashion design and now retired with a great deal of time on my hands, I've started to take the craft of pattern making to a higher level. Thank you Terry Kim for your artistry encouragement.
"I was deeply touched by your comment. Thanks to your comment, I will strive to make even more amazing videos in the future. Thank you so much for your comment. I hope everything you do goes smoothly."
Soothing to watch. I recently bought a custom hand made leather loafers. I don't have much knowledge about shoes or leathers. Really liked to watch your video. 🔥
Those are very elegant looking shoes. My husband has two pairs and they look good every time he wears them. They last forever…I’m glad I got a chance to see how they’re made.
OUTSTANDING. I can not imagine you making patterns on my big feet and then creating a pair of shoes for me. Triple E Width...!!! I would be so proud of those shoes!
Beautiful workmanship. If ever I have enough money to afford hand made shoes , it’s definitely happening. It’s nice to see such a skilled person producing beautiful hand made goods. Bravo sir. 🇬🇧👍👍
If there's a master of shoe making craftsmanship, Terry Kim is! What a great proof of knowledge, perseverance and finesse. (One little remark of attention, sometimes the hands of the master obstruct the view at the great art of the master😎
Absolutely beautiful work! Plus, these shoes are built to be worn without being babied. It would be a dream to have shoes like these custom fitted. Thanks, maker.
I was watching this video in awh and admiration. What an artistry. I too would probably have such a pair of shoes on display, without ever wearing them. Ha, ha…. Just to look at them. Thank you very much for making this video. Very inspirational.
I love the whole process and your skills. Amazing! If I have a pair of shoes of your brand, I will keep it in the show-case, never wear it. It looks so cool! Thank you for sharing. I liked your presentation.
