Every pair of shoes I make is a custom-made pair for each individual client. The production period takes between 40 to 60 days, and the price ranges from $2,500 to $4,500 USD.
I've been selling as well as repairing shoes for just over four decades. This, seems to me, like the ultimate in 100% handmade footwear craftsmanship. You, sir, are a master keeping the art of handmade footwear alive in an age of poorly made footwear. I extend my highest compliments to you.
Incredible. Just spent 45m watching this when I am buried with work to be doing. Stunning. I doubt I will ever be able to afford shoes like this. Would love to know what they cost?!?
More nail biting than any thriller, more interesting than any science show, more relaxing than any midday nap. Beautiful shoes, beautil work and beautiful video production without - thanks God - distracting music, only crafting sounds. Well done!
I thought I was clever owning a pair of UK hand made Loakes Brogues (which I treasure)- but this is in another category of quality all together - its amazing devotion to craftsmanship, skill, material, tradition and process, I was mesmerised.
Yes, I hope he is practicing his wonderful abilities and skill for a long time! Hopefully solvents and glues containing benzene aren’t sold in Korea anymore. There was an association between benzene and leukemia in shoemakers, but hopefully that will become a distant memory now that much safer products are available.
@@ccculture9681 A lot of bootmakers historically suffer from extremely high rates of cancer (especially in the nasal passages and throat) because of the chemical benzene that was used in glues, solvents, polishes, etc that they are exposed to on a daily basis. In North America, this has largely been solved by the use of safer chemicals, respirators, and engineering controls like forced ventilation. And because Terry is in a highly developed country like South Korea, he’s probably safe. But, in many other countries around the world bootmakers continue to use benzene-containing materials and suffer very unfortunate consequences because of it.
Watching you bring this work of art to life gave me a sense of peace. Your craftsmanship is second to none. Even taking the tiniest attention to detail on parts of the shoe nobody can see. I would love a pair of shoes made by your hands. Fantastic work!!
Thank you Terry Kim for these videos. I love watching all your skills when building these shoes. I can’t even imagine how long a pair of these would take to construct. The attention to detail is magnificent
I have always wanted a pair of good quality shoes, handmade and you have just raised the bar to the highest level possible. What a craftsman thank you.
Its a pleasure to view the whole process. It is a painstaking process, imagine in real time how much time it is needed. The final result is quality and total refinement. I wish I could afford a pair of your shoes. Gamsahamnida Mr. Kim👌
I was offered the opportunity to become a shoemakers apprentice a few years ago. But I ended up declining the offer. I sometimes regret that decision, it's a beautiful artform.
Dear Mr Kim. Your work for me is the definition of art and Craftsmanship, natural gifted skills and professionalism, love and care, wild and perfectionism, dominion and freedom. Receive my respect and salute of one of your several admirers from Israel ❤
I didn't know that viewers would enjoy the additional explanations. From now on, I will make sure to include more side notes. Thank you for leaving a comment.
Wow. You are a very talented shoemaker as well as a very talented videographer. The detail in the video makes me feel like I could go make a beautiful (if inferior) shoe just with this one video, and the "waiting for it to dry" shots were all so varied and peaceful. Thanks for sharing your work.
Hardly ever i comment, but you sir are as i remember watching 50+ years ago. I stand and clap while saying thank you so very much for the time lost or years it was as if i were there
I have watched the entire video with great interest and admiration for your craftsmanship. The shoes are truly a work of art. While I cannot afford them at the moment, I hope to be able to purchase a pair from you in the future. ❤
Terry, you are a pure craftsman. Watching every stitch, cut, dye and glue these shoes was sheer perfection. You obviously love what you do. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Blessings ❤❤
Mr. Kim, You are a true artisan and craftsman in your shoe making. And your videos are also constantly improving. If I am ever in need of, and can afford, bespoke shoes, yours will be my choice. Nice work.
y yo que en mis tiempos libres, me dedico a la reparación y reconstrucción de zapatos, pero esto, es otro nivel, es la cúspide de la artesanía, realmente, es un maestro, mis respetos y admiración para usted, ¡Gran trabajo!.
It is a joy to watch you work. I especially liked to see you using wooden pegs, which I’ve not seen done before, though I know they were always used years, many years ago. Thank you.
Hello. I saw this movie from Iran and the city of Urmia, and I enjoyed it very much, and I congratulated you on the art of your hands. Have a happy day and good luck👏👏👏👏👏
Wow! A marvellous and comforting video! I wore many cherished Oxfords for over fifty years. I'm now 90 and wish I could afford a decent pair . Do continue your talents for ever...! Rodney Vancouver Island Canada
from tea to a pair of shoes, from the original idea to the final product, the shoemaker travels from one perfection to another... the only real way to real work... thanks for the reminder.
