I open a $2500+ box of 15/16 SPA, featuring some of Connor McDavid's most desirable rookie cards. Subscribe for regular hockey card videos! Patreon: / zeereegaming P.O. Box: zeeree PO Box 23043 Carlton St Catharines ON L2R 1R0 Canada
Man do I despise gambling in our hobby, as it is responsible for the brutal box prices on poor math. But, this video is a very important break to dissuade ppl without the means from throwing away $1,000 on a legless horse at the race track. Hitting the McD would be the wrong msg.
I bought one single box of this a little over a year ago for $275. I decided to just open the box for me. Didn't film it for my channel. Biggest missed video I've ever had. I pulled Forbort FWA early in the box, then Eric Staal Limited Auto. I got down to the very last pack of the box. There were 7 cards in it, instead of 5 and no decoy. The McDavid FWA was right in the middle of it! Would have been so cool to have captured it on camera. Sent it to PSA and it is due back in 2 weeks, which I'll be unveiling on my channel.
Your loyal fan base truly appreciates you being firmly, fricked right in the bum on this one. Honestly you're the best breaker on youtube HANDS DOWN. Thank you for continually putting out quality content!
As you know, I used to only open 05-06 and 15-16 products. This is one of the 15-16 I wasn't able to grab due to the extreme risk involved as you laid out in the beginning. Thank you for opening it, and it makes you feel better, I opened a 15-16 The Cup box a few years ago to get teased by a gold Anton S. Autograph. Keep up the great work Zeeree!
I was having like a minor panic attack this whole video with you man 😂 thank you for opening this, thousands will get to experience it, with emotional ties since we’re all on your team, thanks to you. 👍
Thanks for the fun break Zeeree! I YOLO'd a box of this a couple years ago when it was "expensive" at $299 from Amazon. I did pull a McDavid auto but it was the 95-96 Retro Gold card (same card you pulled here, but the gold auto version). No clue what it's true worth is these days, they almost never come up for sale and I think they're fairly rare. My best pull to this day!
Thanks so much for opening this Zeeree. Despite it not being the result we all wanted, I think I speak for everyone when I say I really enjoyed this. Keep it up man
The mystery card you mentioned? This is how stuff like that gets 'into the wild'. They are called 'Dealer' shows. Used to be a client of a large distributor in Central Canada. Once a year they held a 'show' in the warehouse. Set up some tables and chairs. Have a meal and a couple beers. They would bring in hockey players to sign. This particular day, Tiger Williams and Jason Spezza. Both were super nice to those in attendance. Sitting 5ft away from Williams while he holds court and 'cheersing' each other with beers. Good times. Anyway, we all got a signed and hand numbered Spezza card. An OHL product from UD if I recall. Well these cards were supposed to be seeded in the packs. UD had pulled like 100 from production to be signed, and he did them there. Don't know how many walked out the door, but the odds of pulling one at retail suddenly went waaaayyyy up. Other goodies were games of chance for case level pulls, and case topper cards when they were a thing. Even had a trip to a trade show in Hawaii, including a triple signed or quad signed UD card numbered to 3.
Thanks for doing that for our entertainment man. That is the first time i felt the real disappointment as if i was opening them myself . You are appreciated
Keep your head up high ZeeReee this is one of the best videos you have ever done I loved it. I’m glad you did this so much fun to watch I was on the edge of my seat. Everytime you say heyyyy guyyyyyyzzzz know we support you!
I like the authentic moments in 15-16. I was fortunate enough to aquire the gold triple auto version of yzerman, lidstrom and chelios celebrating the '02 cup.
Love the piano at the end, nice touch...the money may be gone, but the vid will last forever......and at least somebody won't be opening it in 50 years when it's worth 90 grand!
Connor prospects card was sweet but can’t imagine the pain following the box. Kudos to you for not opening it right away hahah temptation must’ve been unbearable. Your knowledge on every product is sick!
I am new to collecting hockey and your video was a nail biter to say the least Thanks for the break I really enjoyed it.To be truthful I only know a handful of good hockey players, but I wanted to share my find with you.My friend gave me a box of cards and I found a third year Gretzky whoever that is which goes to show you my knowledge of hockey and a Gordie Howe but I don't remember the year on that one
Well at least you got a Connor McDavid Card. Also at least you didn’t pay $2,500 for the same result. Thank you for breaking 15-16 SPA......something we won’t see on RU-vid often.
he spent $900 on this box, got maybe $100 worth of inserts back, lost $800 ! but then if he could have gotten $2500 on eBay, after paying $900, he actually lost $1600 !!
Thanks for opening this, such a gamble. Your breaks save me $ as I don't buy the boxes anymore and live through your openings. I have a 2019 UD series one box remaining and its not worth opening, better to sell the box.
I have the McDavid FWA, it came at a pretty steep price but I figured the card could only appreciate in value with time. Of course I had to give up a McDavid Canvas YG, regular YG and POE and I also had to toss in an Auston Matthews YG as a sweetener + a couple of vintage cards.. I got more than the just the McDavid FWA tho, a couple of other cards were also involved in the trade including a raw ex Ken Dryden rookie and a raw vg-ex Mario Lemieux rookie, but I'm pretty satisfied, I mean this was a few years ago and at the time I had doubles of the McDavid Canvas YG and the regular YG and since the trade I acquired another POE and I already had and still have a handful of Matthews YG's, so that card wasn't really a factor for me.. I just figured I couldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire a McDavid FWA, and IMO I think I made the right decision, lol - I mean value wise the trade has been more favorable to me in the long run with the hobby boom and all but at the time I think it was a pretty fair trade as far as monetary value... The FWA is still raw, however I would presume it would get at the very least a PSA 9 - either way it's pretty odd knowing that I have so much invested in just one card and honestly I'm really not a McDavid fan -- I have nothing against him and he's without question the best player in the league or clearly among the best night in and night out - I just don't really PC McDavid outside of his big cards - that's all... And I have been shopping the card around for a Gretzky rookie that grades at least a PSA 7 or higher - I think that's one of the few cards I would trade the McDavid FWA for outside of crypto....Either way it's money in the bank, lol - I'm in no rush. Also, I would love to know what Upper Deck does with all of their FWA unclaimed redemptions - or unclaimed redemptions period... I know they have a raffle/lottery but that doesn't account for all of them - so perhaps there are far less than /999 FWA's out there, or serial numbered redemption cards in general??..... I really wish Upper Deck was more transparent because I would really like to know some numbers such as production runs, the amount of redemptions claimed etc. just to name a few..
Dammit. Really wanted to see a 97 on that helmet during the slow reveal. And as a Flames fan, here I was thinking that Emile Poirier couldn't let me down any more than he did. I was wrong.
I had a hunch that Covid would make cards skyrocket, so I purchased a GEM MT 10 McDavid FWA for $4,500 at the start of the pandemic. I don't think I've ever had a stock with that kind of return.
