I will say this for fellow hot pocket eaters though: microwave it for one minute to thaw then brush it with butter/oil choice and throw it in your air fryer or toaster oven for a few minutes. Gets the crust flakier and crispy and makes your lunch choice slightly better and less depressing.

As someone who's been binge watching his videos for the past hour, one thing I have to say is that he can never beat the time constraints. I don't want a whole lot of dishes or a lot of effort into my meal, and for the quick amount of time you can make the frozen versions, the taste isn't all that bad. We should challenge him to make a depression meal. Depression meal requirements: - limited usage of dishes. Not a large cleanup. - Can make within 15 minutes. - cheap.

I used to ADORE Hot Pockets so much because they were the fast, cheesy, meaty, satisfying snack that I needed when I was running out the door in the morning as a teenager. Then my system decided no more dairy, and I have missed them terribly since. Thank you so much for this video! I can finally make real Hot Pockets, and customize them to be anything I want!

Point of his channel isn't to make food accessible or affordable or anything, its literally just "watch me make this but better" so he's going to use upscale ingredients and spend a bunch of time cooking everything to perfection. But you could easily replace some of the ingredients he is using with cheaper or easily accessible ingredients.

In (I think I saw it there) the Bon Appetit youtube channel Claire made her own better Italian hot pockets, but she cooked the tomato sauce to the point where it was a dry paste, since the more humidity the filling has the more likely it is to burst.

Microwave the hot pockets on a plate, then brush with melted butter and sprinkle lightly with garlic salt and/or Italian seasoning. Broil ever so lightly to toast the shell. Especially with the pizza themed fillings, it just got me through a night sometimes. Great work recreating this survival classic!

Just hoppin' on the bandwagon of loving Kendrick. No hate on the other guys but Kendrick was just a lot better at articulating the difference between the two. Although to be fair, I think this episode probably has the biggest jump in quality for a "But Better" episode so the differences between the two might be a bit more recognizable.

I'm sure it's subjective from person to person but the enjoyment I got from that series was more in relation to everything surrounding the cooking rather than the actual concept of the show itsself. in my experience it's a struggle meal here in the US. you only resort to hot pockets if you're a hung over college student or a busy single mom. all the love and respect to hot pockets tho they got me through some rough spots 😔

You could do that simply by making a large batch at once and freezing them before you make them, store them in an airtight bag and then bake them from frozen.

I'm not even surprised puff pastry won. In France we make "Friands au fromage" (a cheese pasty I guess?) which is basically cheese inside of puff pastry with an egg wash. It's simple, it's amazing. Adding pizza to that sounds like a wonderful idea!

Thanks for showing us this. I love your Taste Tester. He really made me laugh. Glad you showed us these, because we plan to make something similar. Hot Pockets have lower quality now, and they are so gritty now. They were not what I remember from Childhood, or maybe, I just have a bad memory. But, honest, I do think they used to be better.

With precooked stuff and 3 puff pastry boxes , you can make 18 pizza pockets for less than $30 and take less than 2 hours doing so. Basically, being around the same price as those plastic pockets.
