Improving my tiny 12V Submersible Pump with Float Switch, by adding a relay!
In the video here it kind of worked well. As I try to be honest, I must admit that I had issues afterwards,, the pump messed up and stopped spinning at all.. and not pumping out the water ment that the relay got wet,, and had to dry out.

It's not my poem btw ;)) In the basement I was alone in the basement. Damp, dark and gloomy. The bulb glows slightly, trembling; it barely illuminates the door exits. It doesn't give me much light. Then, searching the shelves in the darkness I hear footsteps in the corridor. I already have a gloomy feeling, because I live alone in a tenement house. Do I feel this way because of loneliness? It's dark all around, I was staring at the front door I'm waiting for the vile squeaking sound of the door handles. So listening to a foreign rhythm, like a collection of old records. The footsteps stopped quite quickly. Are these hallucinations? Is this a guest? Nothing, there are no traces of him here, as if he had appeared from a dream. That's why I'll write him a poem.

Breaking AC is generally more gentle in the contacts than DC, but I think this will do well enough (ha-ha : ). Perfection is the enemy of good enough. The reason is that AC looses power 100 times per second so any arcing will die after about 10 ms. These are always ways to improve it. So another worst case you have more content.

I know,, the relay has to brake 1,5A,, so think that is okay..

If you put the smart meter on the charger you can see when the pump has used power to see how often and perhaps long it pumps.

I would recommend installing a freewheeling diode across the relay coil to dissipate the inductor's energy when turned off. This would prevent a spark in the switch when it opens again. Such a small relay coil can produce an astonishingly powerful and destructive spark.

Well the float switch is not doing well,, I think I had it working to hard before I put in the relay.

This is the easy way, how it needed to be done in first video! 👍 Only relay isn't suppose to sit in well if there is a plan to make circuit reliable and needs to be outside on shelf.. Longer sensor wires is right solution.. Moisture and electricity aren't best friends.. 😂 Otherwise, great video, as always! Yeah, that used blinking bulb is annoying and can make anybody crazy.. That reminds me hospitals and schools.. 😂😬

A basic shortcoming in your plan is that you don’t have HYSTERESIS! This system tries to keep the water level at the float switching point, You would need two switching levels, one for turning pump on at, say 30 cm and another shutting pump off, when water level is down to 10 cm. Or pick your choices. In any case, you don’t want to have the motor start AND stop at the same level. That causes way too frequent starts! Of course, you could use a timer in addition to the float, instead of a plain relay.

What do you hang the relais in to the water level.. I personaly made it up near the battery of something. Out of the well

I did not actually think of that,, but I cut the cables in the last video,, so mostly just because of the short cables.

It's a Philips fluorescent light, they are designed to stop working after 1000 hours ;)

Did your electronics need to be close to the pump? why not put all your circuitry above the water line? Let's put the LED light in there, blinky lights suck! Great video thanks!

Also the pump should be as close to the bottom of the pit as possible.

Why do you not do what you did in one of your own videos a while back and do a Holding Circuit? Also is the well the only place the water comes in? Why do you not build up a brick layer around the rim of the well and water proof it so the water table doesn't come in? Looks like from other videos that it only ever comes up by 100mm no?
