I'm a custom knife maker and blacksmith and have been doing it for many years and I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship of your knives. I have bookmarked your site and will be ordering one of your Khukuris. Thank you for sharing your work I really enjoyed watching. I have a lot of respect for people that make knives like you all do. Keep it up and keep passing that trade down to the young ones so it never dies out. Again thank you very much and I'm most definitely going to buy one of your knives.

You can only judge by results, I personally like oil quenching spring steel but it can be water-quenched. Suspect if they crack they're discarded. A friend water-quenched 5160 all the time, the trick he said was draw the temper asap and don;t let the blade sit around at full hardness.

Short story about the bravery of the Gurkhas. In WW2, a low level parachute drop had to be made at short notice. The Gurkhas (who hadn't had parachute training ) were told they would be jumping from 800 feet, apparently the lowest altitude for a static line to open the chutes. Their officer went away looking a bit worried, but said nothing. A short time later he returned to the British officer after telling his men about the jump and said that they were willing to make the jump but could the height be lowered to 200 feet? The British officer explained that the parachutes would not open at 200 feet. The Gurkha officer said, Oh, we did not know we were getting parachutes!

The most beautiful design ever.I love these weapons, always have. They just look so effective and wicked.Tough people and deadly knives, you have to admire them. That soldier in Afghanistan that killed like 60 Taliban fighters in one battle was a Ghurkha wasn't he? So tough and brave,in addition to being well armed.Admirable combination indeed.

People's Front of Canada This was the Soldier Acting Sgt Dipprasad Pun, who’s father and grandfather were both Gurkhas soldiers before him. single-handedly fought off an attack by at least a dozen Taliban insurgents was awarded Britain's second highest medal for bravery. Acting Sergeant Dipprasad Pun used up all of his ammunition and resorted to using his machine gun tripod to repel the attack in Afghanistan in September. The Gurkha, 31, of Ashford, Kent, said he was a "lucky guy" and very proud to get the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross. Acting Sgt Pun was on sentry duty at a checkpoint near Babaji, in Afghanistan's Helmand province, when he spotted insurgents trying to plant a bomb beside the front gate. Moments later, militants opened fire on the compound from all sides. For more than a quarter of an hour, alone on the roof, Acting Sgt Pun fought off an onslaught from rocket-propelled grenades and AK-47s. In total, he fired more than 400 rounds, launched 17 grenades and detonated a mine. At one point, when an insurgent tried to climb up to his position, his rifle failed and he resorted to throwing his machine gun tripod to knock him down. Acting Sgt Pun, who is originally from the Nepalese village of Bima, believed at the time that there were more than 30 attackers. Local villagers later told him the figure was more likely to have been 12 to 15. Recalling the incident, he said: "As soon as it was confirmed [they were] Taliban, I was really scared. "But as soon as I opened fire that was gone - [I thought] 'Before they kill me I have to kill some. “I thought they were going to kill me after a couple of minutes, definitely. “The citation on his medal - which is only one level below the Victoria Cross - states that he saved the lives of three comrades who were inside the checkpoint at the time. “ Inthink I am a very lucky guy, a survivor," he added. "Now I am getting this award, it is very great and I am very happy."

Ex British Army , have operated with and been stationed near Gurkha units ( sadly fewer now than back then ) Gurkhas could charm an enemy into surrender without drawing these master crafted weapons , fierce & brave warriors , but so genuinely kind and likeable !! Great to watch also love the Nepali music ...does sound similar to music from north Myanmar. Greetings from England , and from my friends from Myanmar.

Had a KHHI BSI when I did my survival instructors course in Canada. A big knife and heavy, but I loved working with it. The length and shape allowed for finer and cruder tasks, because you could grind to different angles along the belly and closer to the handle. Had it out and with me through high 20's to freezing temps. The buffalo horn handle never gave any cause for concern. Dependable and super cool piece of art!

Probably not as good. They are at one with the furnace and the hammer. Each knife has the soul of its maker inside. I work in wood, not steel. I have all the modern tools I need in my workshop, but I always come back to the plane and the handsaw. Many times I pass the sanders over for homemade cabinet scrapers and even broken prices of glass. Modern tools save labor, but produce inferior work.

Joydev Sarkar :- Who stop you to doing this ??? ISI ? Or Pakistan Airforce ?? We wait for you. You are welcome anay Time and any where. But first provide food and boots 👢 to your soldiers 😃😃. This message is not for all Indians. We love ❤️ Indians as a nation. But there is no place in over hearts for idiots like this Yadev. Mr. Bloody Yadev, we send you last time your pilot alive. But every day is not Sunday. You just say that you want to chop over Army heads. Believe me this time if you try to inter Pakistan, you will see your solders chopped heads and hands. We don’t do it because this is inhuman and we this that they are patriotic men. Thay have also wife children old age father mother and sisters and brothers. And they are in Bloody Indian Army because they wanna earn money for there families. But anyways. We will be very happy if your Army Just try to inter over motherland. You will see how we divide your Country in 1001 peaces. We know that you are not Nepali. And we know that Nepali people are not like Indians. They are loving and nice Nation. And Nepali are one of over best friends. God bless Nepal and Pakistan 🇵🇰 ✌🏻

Me and my family own several khukuri from this house and although one arrived with a minor forging blemish in the spine it has performed very well and is one of my go to heavy use blades.

Wonderful to watch the teamwork and craftmanship which goes into those knives. I've been carrying them in the field since the 1980s. I have rough ones to take camping and beautiful ones as display pieces. They are all wonderful to have and to hold. Thank you for passing the skills on.

Outstanding! Not only is it hand made, it is also foot made! That tripped me out while watching how the maker used his foot and toes to steady the blade during its working. I am astounded at the fairly primitive manner in how these blades are made yet achieve such a high standard when completed. I must, I MUST, own one of these blades! Bravo!

@@tomtom-fg4yj Sounds like the Gurkha's need to give the British top brass some Gurkha's Balls! If the soldier did not come back with the identification he was ordered to accomplish, he should have been reprimanded. How would they have known they got the correct target/enemy. This is War and a dead enemy is a dead enemy.
