Love this video. Those are some beautiful lutes. I’m trying to teach myself the lute at the moment. And I’m having a difficult time at it. But, I’m sure it’s worth the frustration.
Bellissimi strumenti, complimenti! if i can,i wuold like to ask you:can you change the action on the lute? And how much is a optimal action? Thank you.Mauro
About 3-4mm is optimal at the 8th fret. The action can be changed by changing frets; If you currently have thinner frets higher up the neck, they can be replaced with the same thickness as the first fret. Or, the fingerboard can be planed down. For this purpose, on new lutes, the fingerboard is made so that it is tapered with the thicker end being the nut end, allowing material to be removed if needed.
