Increase penalties for gun ownership lawbreakers too.... 10 years ago lil wayne was found guilty of possession as a felon, he didn't even do a year. A few years ago he was found guilty again... trump pardoned him... You wonder why criminals don't follow the laws? Because there's little to no punishment for breaking them.
There are no government programs that can resolve the issues plaguing the black community. The first step towards recovery is to first admit you have a problem, and we never admit we have problems.
People need to raise and discipline their children. It's not the responsibility of the community, schools or police to raise them. Stop upholding these children when they do wrong and stop giving them the proverbial crutches of lack of education, no dad in the house and poverty.
Absolutely correct! The people really don't have time to raise their own children, because they are busy tryna keep food on the table, maybe they need to stop having children for a little while, until they can get their family structures together, that way we don't have to continue having these conversations about disobedient children, and senseless violence going on in the community due to the children not being properly raised! Shh sad!
It all begins with sexual education and access to preventative measures, so that people grow up and not have kids they can’t afford. In turn, we won’t have neglected children in the streets.
I do agree parents need to raise and discipline their children however it is also the community, schools, police, and churches. It takes a village and when we think not my child not my problem it becomes one for all of us. I have well behaved sons but l am not doing it alone. My village is my back bone.
@@keshiawright4242 With all the money that these churches are pulling in, you would think that they would invest into community centers for the children, & different programs to help keep the kids off the streets! Even help with some funding, to create some jobs, to help some of the parents who need jobs out, so they can raise the children in better situations!
Not always the case of a father not being in the family. There's married couples who both parents works are in the home, they don't have control of their children
The people running the world is just as responsible, and the laws and policies that prohibiting people who want to make a difference. Making life so hard for ones to live. Most are giving up and most definitely trying to stop pur children from living or being born as if no one helped their dam parents raise them. These people have become so popular in saying and avoiding our problems and children that most can make a difference.
I used to live in Frayser, it wasn't that dangerous back then, but now as I watch from the sidelines, I definitely see how the city has drastically changed..Ridden with crime & senseless violence! Not only do they need to hire more police, they also need to help get the kids off the streets, by offering more safe activities that the kids can engage in! Educational activities as well!
I use to live in 38118... I liked orange mound better but end up moving north because of my daughter...I would love to go back but I'm having second thoughts because of the crimes
Senior public officials should have to move to these affected areas - it would speed up improvements or at the very least highlight the challenges for the media.
Interesting how so many people have the answers....there are SO many kids waiting for a mentor with Big Brother Big Sister, yet I'm sure very few if anyone in these comments volunteers with them or in their community. Eveyone wants to diagnose the problem, but not help be part of the solution.
I heard our DA speak on a local tV show. The DA had very little to make me feel like he will do anything about terrible crime. Robbery , murder, car jacking. You can not walk anywhere day or night in Memphis
As a Memphis resident myself who moved here from Mississippi which I should have kept going and not stop fix the broken child support system it’s a big revenue here dad’s put on and paying ridiculous payment and not being able to see there kids and women here including married ones especially like to mess around much as the men do they don’t want to fix it and if they revise it they will lose millions of dollars a year I mean who am I to say I just live here and work here is men are tired and I see why they are angry nobody here want anything real 🤦🏾♂️
We listen to the same lies decade after decades . What the government don’t do. When the government do the Community tear down what was done. What is the churches doing in the Community besides taking money for nice cars. Communities need to help themselves and turn in the criminals and stop making babies with them .
Start prosecuting the criminals for one. We need to let the police do their job and stop giving third and fourth chances. Secondly we need to bring more development to these communities. Not run the people out, but bring them the same amenities that are in Mississippi and Cordova. Drugs ain’t necessarily the problem. If you add more amenities and money making opportunities, crime and poverty will go down. The population isn’t the problem, it’s the infrastructure and generational lack of discipline. 💯💯 the city officials won’t fix this because crime is money, WE must!!
Let's be honest about the church in low income communities,,,they are closing because they've failed,,,many of the churches have grown fat while many of the people still trying to stay above the poverty line...
Yet they still breeding poverty and all Single parents and low educational so it really does start at home which was broken from the start this happening everywhere though not just Memphis I just pray coming or going that’s all you really can do
Where are your prayer warriors. Where are your mighty warriors. You need to put your feet on the ground.. You need to drive out the strong man by the Spirit of the Lord.. Take back your land. We don't fight people. Our weapons are not carnal. They are powerful in the pulling down of strongholds. Powers and principalities of the land under the land in the air and water. John 10:10 Don't you all realize you are fighting a spiritual battle? GOD is the the GOD of chaos and confusion. Get better leadership!
Something is truly evil about our very own people their curses are upon them heavy, please repent for the cause of our fall and show righteous luv again kill sin at the door
Sad But no excuses There are poor places all.over the country where the kids don't cut loose . Blame the political people they voted for who.made promises to change things and took it backwards without a second thought. Took the money bought fancy homes for themselves . They have nothing to loose but a election. Review the elected officials and forget the color of skin just the job evaluation and the money they had assess to and did spend .
This sad, you have children raising children. Using crutches I had a bad childhood. No it's not always because the father isn't present or in the child's life. If the parents can't be together to raise their children the can co-parent. You have to want to break the chain to have a better life not only for your children. For their children
These children are bored. No physical activity, computers and game systems, cellphones. Too afraid to come outside sometimes might catch a bullet. No skating rinks, bowling alleys. Very few after school activities, we had dances after school every Friday @ 3 PM. We had drama classes, science club, other club meetings after school. We went on more school field trips than these kids do. We went to the movies, museums, we went on picnics, spent the day downtown, skating rink, bowling alley. We would do class room plays. Then in summer little league baseball, we would learn how to build our own go cart as a group. There was always something to do. Block parties and going to the amusement park, community pool Churches used to sponsor neighborhood events along with neighborhood stores
More police doesn’t help!! This lady is ignorant to what it really takes to make a change. Boy and girls clubs, community centers, neighborhood bbq’s. That’s the Memphis I know. Things have changed and it’s sad!!
