Making mud mats for excavator so I can dig in wet and muddy areas. I use mats with Hyundai 110-7. I used 150 mm x 150 mm (6'x6') material 4 pieces per mat and connected with an 18mm threaded rod. Works fine for the 13T excavator.

I only include chainsaw pants and a forestry helmet for safety purposes, sandals are my safety shoes.

You really need to grease the bucket on that loader. Like Letdig 18 says "grease is your friend, you can never overgrease a bucket".

Thanks for that! We are using 7T loader with an adapter for digging and I'll definitely try this! Though I'm not sure it will really handle the weight. I've seen it crush much harder things....

I was afraid that too, but it worked fine. The wood that I used was a bit rotten too. You can always use thicker material if needed. I broke only one end of one mat with the bucket accidentally when I was digging.

Wouldn't rebarb be better or no? I need to build some to clear my land and always thought they used rebarb because it would flex

Rebarb is good. The thread rods worked for me as well. All good.

I have a JCB 8065. What length would you recommend I get?

@@AFHProjects lengths of timber beams. Machine is a 6T with about a 2 metre width. So if I get 3 or 4 sets of 4 x (150mm x 150mm), what length would be best. Thanks

I think 3-3,5. If mats are too long to side. Then the ends will be burry under the dirt if you dig and want to load the dirt to side of the machine.
