Sorry that the video doesn't show the other 5 or so instruments + other tweaks I added in, I kinda forgot to hit record on the camera! I have a 40 minute audio recording of me talking about what else I added but no video to go along with it. ooooooops.
I know this is a 2 year old comment, but I'll share what helps me, because I feel the same way (just I use Ableton :P ): 1) Practice, practice, practice. I know you might be sick of hearing this, but honestly: make stuff constantly, whether it's good or shit. You'll find your sound and get faster at making musical decisions, which will make starting a project way easier. 2) Listen to stuff that matches how you want to sound. Don't try and reinvent the wheel, and use your idols not as a bar to compare against or compete with, but a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, so to speak. You'll get there. 3) Learn some music theory. You don't have to go very far, but some knowledge of music theory will help you search for what you want explained and will help you understand it better. Andrew Huang made a really good video explaining basic music theory concepts in just 30 minutes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rgaTLrZGlk0.html There's obviously much more than this, but it's up to you whether it's worth it. Don't be scared of it though - lots of people teaching music theory on RU-vid seem to do it from a very "here's the tools, now go have fun" perspective, something that in-class music theory doesn't (that's more "here's the rules, now follow them"). 4) Don't stress if something sounds messy or wacky, just get into it and keep going. You might find that a wacky, off-kilter beat works when it's put into context! 5) Try saying your rhythms/trying to sing your melodies out loud (for example, sing the beat of a track you like just saying "ta") instead of going right to putting them in a sequencer. Timbaland talks about this process, and it can really help getting over the hump that comes with putting stuff into your DAW. 6) Have fun, and don't give up!! NEVER give up, even when it's hard. You will feel like you've plateaued or stagnated sometimes, but that just means you're on the way to another rise in skill - you're still learning and improving, even in the most minor of ways! If you're still making music since you made this comment, I'd love to check it out. Producers/musicians gotta help each other out! :)
Korg Gadget has absolutely captivated me. I used to sit with Mario and kill all kinds of time, but now that I'm older those games don't seize my attention like they used to. Now when I play Nintendo all day, I have something tangible to show for it. I loved your tune, man. Congratulations, you should be proud.
people are going to find this channel, and find nothing but awesome video's. This is an amazing channel with way less exposure than it should have. Keep it up!
Wow top notch video and beat. The cuts to different views while keeping the timing was flawless. I bet this is the best video ever made of this software.
This is the video that convinced me to buy it! I thought at first it was a bit gimmick-y like the Korg DS-10 on the Nintendo DS. But man, this software is on a whole other level. Having a blast with it and I can very intuitively carry over my years of experience with FL Studio. 😁
Really want to see you do the multiplayer mode with your friend. Would be cool if it available online and you can compose together with your friend online..
I notice you're doing this with the Switch on the docker hooked to your TV screen. How does it handle in mobile mode? If it supports touch control well, this looks most promising.
