Now knowing that this car is capable of running 10s... safety mods are a must! First up is getting my gas tank separated from the driver compartment - and some more power of course!

1000%. It's a build any of us could scrape together. As much as I love the Chaser and Skyline builds, the way prices are $25k- $80k for the car alone, it's not very relatable to most. Though they are still fun, this video series is where it's at!

Adam, your Mainline dyno has intercooler pressure drop testing built in. Just hook up one of its MAP sensors to the compressor discharge and the other one to manifold pressure. It will calculate the pressure drop for you. Then you can test back to back, and it will be stored in all of your runs for you to evaluate in the F2 screen.

Major Props to you getting in there and actually trying to learn the skills to build what you want. Also as some others have said I also love the fact that it is not another OEM+ build.

Adam, take a long stretch of vacuum line, cut 1 straight line in the hose to open it up and you can slide it over the edge to create a nice seal on the gaps, also will help keep out any fumes!
@gmula1987
@gmula1987 Год назад
Vacuum line isn't fire resistant. The whole reason of the firewall is to protect the cabin from fire. Sealing it from fumes is just an added bonus. A fire resistant silicone sealant should be used. Vacuum line will probably work and won't immediately catch on fire but why use that when you can use actual fire resistant silicone.

The Datsun build reminds me of the early cream 180sx builds watching Adam learn new things is aweosme . The fact the build is being kept on a budget keeps it relateable.There is lots i am taking away from this video to build the inside of canopy on my ute , The cardboard idea is going to be put to good use!!I first started watchng Adam because my first car was a s13 silvia and had radiator cooling problems and i youtube it and adam popped up, This feels like og content. Keep it up . Cheers from Australia :)

It's soooo much easier to make the template out of multiple pieces than trying to make 1 piece work. I use poster board and painters tape, work the hard curves first and then use strips for the longer sections. No need to make the entire piece so I usually leave the inside of the template "empty". Grab a pair of the sheet metal shears from harbor freight, bear or however you spell it. They are super sharp and don't make any shavings, super clean cuts. I don't have a stomp shear so that's my only aluminum cutting tool. Always do your bead rolling first then cut to size as the bead rolling does change your dimensions some. Bead rolling doesn't like sharp turns, so next time put some larger radius turns into the design and it won't warp on you. To help with those warps, you can hammer around the "weird" areas and it will help release some of the stress that is causing it to warp. Hope this helps.

Adam: If I lie to you I'm not doing you justice. As a Master Craftsmen, welder, carpenter, computer builder, medic, gunsmith, machinist there's not much I can't do. At times I was crying watching this. But I thought you did a great job installing a handmade firewall. There's pride in that!!!!!!!! I was surprised to see what you challenged yourself to do. 👍👍👍👍! Good content and if your thumb hurts! Yeah I saw that!! A very small drill bit is best to drill a small hole in your fingernail to relieve the pressure. (IE) Don't use a drill. You wont like that. Do it by hand. I'm still trying to find a shop that will take on my 1995 Nissan 200sx build. Keep it as long as you need it for the build and content. Once your done just give it back to me built. It has a one Off wide body kit, custom air intake and 4 to 2 dual exhaust. I will do anything to get it to you and pick it up. The car has sentimental value to me. My Daughter was about to be born and I needed a bigger car compared to my single cab truck. It's her car that's the way I feel about it. I'm caring for my elderly father and don't have time to work on it. Thanks for the consideration.

In a lot of race cars I’ve built over the years, I always urethane around the edges to make 100% sure no fire or fuel vapour could entire the drivers area. from the video they don’t look crazy big. So I’d just seal around the edges after the final mount tabes are done
