Hullloo!!! So lately on Ye Olde Internet, I've been seeing a lot of people making bookshelf inserts (or as I learned they are called, "Book Nooks"), so I wanted to make my own! I decided to do a lil' abandoned temple design and tried to use materials I already had! It was a ton of fun and I frickin' love making anything miniature, hahaha. If you try this out make sure you show me!

Craft Foam Sheets
Flappy box thingy from Michael's
Thicker EVA Foam (8mm or 10mm) (I get mine from tntcosplaysupp...)
Acrylic Paints
Sculpey Clear Glaze

I play ALOT of table top rpgs and craft a TON of "scenes" for our gaming table. Temples, caves, city streets etc. I was so giddy to see you make this - reminds me of the day I saw a terrain build on youtube of an abandoned mine and IMMEDIATELY ran to the nearest dollar tree for hot glue, craft foam, and popsicle sticks! Also, if ever you're lacking in flocking. Wood shavings (even from a sharpened pencil) are a nice alternative. For texture I use aluminum and a tiny wire brush. Overall it looks AMAZING!!

I love this video and it turned out super cute! But I want to say I appreciate the recommendation for native. It suck in my head the last time you recced them, and I got some recently when my old stuff ran out. I miss the scent I had before, but this one never gives me a rash. Thank you! Also, don’t be afraid to do fun little crafty things like this. Like. You could always make another book nook. For your victorian room! I’d watch that. I watch pretty much all your stuff though. 😂

The reveal combined with that music made me think of the ruins in Visby in Sweden. (There is a lot of ruins there and I have twice been to the medieval week in Visby.) I really like the mood of it. So inspiring on so many levels! Both making wise and inspirational/fantasy wise. A part of me want to make one too, but I seldom work with hard materials. Concerning crafting, I am only proficient in fabrics.

I LOVE miniatures!! And a forgotten temple to peer into is totally my favorite! Like a tiny Lara Croft or Indiana Jones is about to step foot into it. I would love to try this. So far I’ve only done miniature gardening but dioramas are incredible and you don’t have to water them! Haha your deodorant story is the same as mine. I just found Native at Target a few months ago ($11 per stick) and they are my favorite as of right now!

Basically, exactly what you did in miniature is what I would be doing as a set designer if theater wasn't closed for the summer. Stone walls and faux painting is my favorite thing, so now I have to make a little bookshelf nook because I hadn't seen this idea before. YAY!

It turned out lovely! Pro tip: if you need something measured while in a Michaels (I work there so I can easily tell that's where you were), you can take the thing back to the framing counter and we'd be happy to measure it for you. We both measure things and lend out tape measures all the time. I'm sure this the same with other stores like hobby lobby and jo anns

When I made a miniature hobbit hole a few years ago, I took a pile of wood shavings, separated it into two cups, mixed a dark green paint into one and a light green into the other, then mixed each until the paint soaked and covered all the shavings, let them dry and then mixed the greens together. It was the BEST faux grass/moss .

I love miniatures too! I was obsessed with I Spy books even after I was way too old for them because some of the scenes just gave me a kind of joy I can't describe. Spooky Night is my favorite. My dad is super into model trains so I hope one day we will build a cool mini town. Vanilla Chai deodorant sounds nice. I use Schmidt's for now but I'm still exploring. I'm going to make some chai tea now.
