@@MemoryBoxCandleCo I hope you’re the first millionaire in your family! May your shop grow beyond your wildest dreams! Or someone comes along and buys you out! Much love to you Sweetie! Can’t wait to get my t shirt!!!
Erica from memory candle co, Standley handcrafting and black tie barn you guys are truly a blessing to this candle making world. Everything I know from candle making is from the 3 of u guys. I just want to say thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏so much!
Check out Bramble Berry/Soap Queen on one of them Ann Marie shows how to blend with the top, middle and bottoms notes plus she give a great tip on how to use a cotton ball. What she did was put a couple of drops onto a cotton ball with the different fragrances that she wanted to blend and let it sit in a baggie for about 10 minutes. I do this all of the time and this will help you to not use up so much fragrance oil while testing.
Oh that’s great! And yes I do the cotton ball/q tip too! When I’m trying to see if I like a scent combo I will do that, but I’ve been blending these separately for a long time now so I thought I would make 16 oz bottles of them :)
OMG, I've been doing this since I first started!! Beware though, this is addicting!! I started out like you with just a few blends, and last count I think I was up to 37 blends.. Also I wanted to let you know that you can buy squirt tops to fit all you FO bottles, so that it makes it easier, like you said, when pouring out of the bottle.. All of my FO bottles, and there must be close to 200, have squirt tops.. Keep being you, you are a ray of sunshine when it comes to all the secrets candle makers love to keep!! I just love your videos!!
I love the fact that Aztec uses the flip tops! Never looked to see if you could purchase them as my candlemaking journey has been stalled. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for sharing your formula. Not to many people would do that. Much appreciated and I also have watched all your videos and alway look forward to seeing your next video.
White Magnolia from Bramble Berry + Fraser Fir and Apple Sage + White Rose are two lovely blends! Thank you for sharing your blends! I have a Mahogany Teakwood right now that I love, from Maple Street so I’ll try your first recipe. Much love to all chandlers!
Oh, men! I love to reuse bottles and every time I emptied a FO one I wondered if they had any other use and usually ended up trashing them. NOW, I have a new use for them. THANK YOU for sharing. I am definitely doing this too!
I watch Curio Candles on TikTok, and she uses the bottles you usually see being used to pour olive oil. I thought that was ingenious! You don't have to worry about wasting fragrance oil, and it's pretty lol
I really need to do this! I bought some bottles but for some reason second guessed myself because I haven't seen anyone else premix their oils yet. You've just motivated me to get it done!
This is great! I purchased amber glass bottles from Fillmore Container for blends. You've encouraged me to actually stop procrastinating get them filled now. ☺️
Great video once again :) For the candle makers in the UK and EU, keep in mind that mixing scents will require a new CLP, which needs to be made by a lab and can be costly!
I’ve honestly been waiting for a fresh video to say that you have helped me so much in my candle journey, I watch you candle math video and realized I was doing something totally wrong! You’ve saved me so much time! I have been having trouble with wooden wicks, I don’t want to switch my wicks but I’m mot sure what to do hopefully using tour method of candle math might work, Do you have any suggestions on wooden wicks at all and what do you think about the virgin coconut soy wax? Thank you in advance!!
Hi! Wow that is so sweet! So happy that my videos have helped you! ☺️ Unfortunately I don’t have any issues with wooden wicks at all, but I will actually be testing out the virgin coconut soy wax really soon on my channel! 🤍🤍
Hi Erica! I love your videos! Most people aren't as transparent about their businesses. Please keep making them 😍. There aren't any descriptions or other info. Can you possibly tell me where i can find it please?
Virginia Candle Co has the caps for fragrance bottle the have the same (pour spout ) lids like on your tobacco bottle for all sizes of bottles, I buy bags of caps for all of my fragrance bottles and replace the original pour spout caps , life is now amazing no dripping easy to measure, I love them lol
@@cindyhurlbert8740 Hello I have an insta account but it is personal and the truth is I do not use it, I am about to open one but from my business I hope soon as soon as I have the labels for my products arrive I will open it
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo actually I think it's the whole math thing throwing me off, but I'm definetly gonna try. For example you said 16 Oz's and then you had two fragrances at different gram amounts, the figuring out the Oz's or grams is what would get me, that's why I haven't tried blending yet.lol
I am so happy I found your channel. You are very encouraging. I started a candle company about 8 years ago. After a relocation I never continued the business. I am starting another company. I have been working towards placing an order for oils, containers, etc. Everyone keeps telling me it is a mistake because “the market is saturated” and that there is too many candle makers. I watched several of your Utubes today and the one about the market was very encouraging to me. Do you sell wholesale? Before I did but it really cuts into the profit. Thanks so much for making the utubes!
First, let me say I have been a very BIG fan of your videos. As a newbie, your tips and general discussions have been a great help and inspiration to me. I do have a question. This question has probably been asked several times, but how do you decide what scents to mix and then what percentages to mix them?
I'm new to candle making and you are such an inspiration. I LOVE watching you videos. I've learned so much from you. I've purchased my materials and I have starting testing which is so exciting. Once you decided on the percentage of each fragrance you wanted to add in the bottle, how did you convert the percentage into grams?
Yayy that’s exciting!❤️ And I personally love working with grams, but this can easily be done with working with oz in one less step. They is how I did it: 16 oz = 454 g 454 x 50% = 227g So I knew to use 227 g for each oil in my 50:50 blend. The same thing goes for any combination. Just multiple the total number by the percentage to get the weight 🤍
such a good idea! I've seen a few people on tiktok use sauce bottles...i wasn't sure if you'd need to use a specifc type of plastic for fragrance oil though...
From my research it’s called “PET” plastic. “Plastic containers, specifically PET, have been shown to store some products containing essential oils remarkably well” (source: containterandpackaging.com) And in my opinion if it can hold essential oils then it can hold FO! 🤍
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo makes sense! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. ❤️ I was also going to suggest with your little silicone pouring cups - I got glass science type beakers and they work a treat. I found they’re really easy to clean scents out of and reuse…I suppose they’re less porous. The idea of having one for similar fragrances would be good too though!
How did you know how much fragrance for the blend? I love your video’s by the way…. I’ve been in business for 4 year’s and I am no where near where I should be…. Don’t really know what I’m doing wrong, but your video’s keep me inspired.
This is so great. Thank you for making this! Honestly this would make it so much easier. Is there a formula you go off of when figuring out the grams/percentages for each fragrance you want to blend?
I just multiply the total weight needed by the FO% :) 16 oz = 454 g 454 x 50% = 227 And you would literally do this with any ratio blend you want to do! 🤍 Even if it was a 10/30/60 blend of 3 fragrances: 454 x 10% = 45.4 g 454 x 30% = 136.2 g 454 x 60% = 272.4 g 🤍 Oh and then of course in terms about what fragrances to blend and how much percentage I choose for each- it’s usually random/personal preference! For instance when I first started making The DJ, I used 30% mahogany with 70% tobacco, and I changed it because I wanted to smell more mahogany!
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo thank you so much! I found your video yesterday on FO to wax and I can’t wait to try it! I definitely needed this a long time ago lol so happy I found your channel!
How would you determine the Top notes Middle notes Bottom notes after blending all the fragrance and to specify in my candle jar . I hope this make sense. 😊
How do you keep the oils blended when they are different density? If you make a premix and dont use all of them, they will eventually separate in the bottle?
Do you launch candle scents based on season? How do you know which scents go with what season? Is there a website that gives you scents for certain seasons maybe like a bundle? Ex: Christmas bundle scents??
Hi there, how did you calculate how to find the weight of the bottle? For instance if you use 40 percent of one FO then 30 percent of the other FO. How will I calculate it to equal the amount of the 16 oz bottle? Hopefully that makes sense.
There’s 28.35 grams in 1 ounce, so if you need 16 oz you would do 28.35x16= 453.6g (this number is the total grams of the fragrances you’re using to fill a 16 oz bottle) 453.6 x 40% = 181.44 g fragrance 1 453.6 x 30% = 136.08 g fragrance 2 453.6 x 30% = 136.08 g fragrance 3 = 453.6 Hope this makes sense :)
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo omg yes it does, I was over here calculating lol, I know my calculator is in relief lol. Yes this helps. Thank you so much for responding and your time
How do you figure out how much you need to make a specific blend? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how much oil I need per batch of my wax melts.
Hi Erica! I remember seeing a video you posted about creating stickers & I want to try to make some, but I can’t find the video. What software did you use to create those fall leaves?
This is the time saver right? So we won’t waste the time mixing the fO stuffs every single times ? Ps. i’m planing to run a small candle business. I’m so sorry if i said something stupid
Hey!! So I always feel like I’m wasting my precious oils using measuring cups. What I do is take the bottle fresh from the manufacturer, I use a sharpie and make my first line on the bottle of their fill line. This way I know it’s 16ozs . Then I take a measuring stick basic 12 inch I measure half way down the bottle from their fill line automatically knowing that’s the 8oz mark. Then so on and so on! I just hate the waste of the oil when using measuring cups… Anyone else feel this way? You can break it down ounce by ounce just by drawing a line on the bottle! Using the manufactures initial 16oz mark fill line. :))))
Hmmm, I’m actually not sure if this would be necessary because I’m blending the fragrance together into the bottle so they are going to be blended together no matter what
