Hi friends! Let my sponsor BetterHelp connect you to a therapist who can support you - all from the comfort of your own home! Visit betterhelp.com/rachelmaksy and enjoy a special discount on your first month!
Not you posting this and then running defense for them in the comments 💀 I'm all in favor of accessible mental healthcare, but the controversies with BH are enough that people shouldn't trust them again. They screwed with people's mental health - that's not something you can just do and say sorry for. I hope you don't take their money in the future, but regardless I'm out
Rachel, during your ad today Frodo was licking his paws cause, itchy? or irritated? Due to allergies? Get him allergy tested maybe, especially for grass if it only happens in summer time. Might mean meds or a new diet though. ❤❤ My daughter works in animal medicine. This is a thing that happens. 😊
Hi Rachel! I'm a therapist, and I think you should know that Better Help sells client data to third party advertisers. Which is illegal in my country and yours, not to mention wildly unethical to use someone's private health data to sell ads. There are other reasons that the platform is unethical and bad for both clients and therapists, and I highly encourage you to look up the lawsuits against them.
^^^^^ exactly!! I was shocked that Rachel took this sponsorship honestly, i don't want to think she would if she knew Betterhelp's controversy. They must pay well.
So glad you submitted this comment - Better Help is a super concerning platform for a lot of reasons. They also go by other names, such as "Faithful Counselling" (to target religious clients) etc.
I want to mention something, as someone who worked in marketing in my early 20's, that some of you may already know but some people here may not have considered. I've seen some comments going, "Guys, we can shut up about BetterHelp now, I think Rachel gets it." And I'm sure she does! I really hope she's being gentle with herself, and that no one is going after her personally, because I do feel like she's a genuinely good person who just made a mistake. And that sucks. She deserves, and from what I've seen she is getting, support from her community as she goes through the hard process of us giving her negative feedback and setting a firm boundary. But what I want to talk about is this: that we're not just talking to Rachel in this comments section. We're talking to everyone who watches this video who didn't already know about BetterHelp's shady practices. And we're talking to BH directly. Every content creator who takes a sponsorship from a company becomes, at least temporarily, a brand ambassador for them, responsible for spreading the company's name and generating positive press for the business. I'm sure many of you already know that that's literally how marketing works. Accepting this sponsorship is Rachel, knowingly or not, helping BetterHelp as much as or more than they're helping her. We know this because companies only sponsor creators when they think they'll get a good return on their investment- they think she'll generate positivity for their brand, make their name a household name, which gets people to buy their product. The point of this comments section being so saturated with complaints about BH is to let the person who made this deal know that Rachel's followers aren't for sale to them. Because while no, the CEO of BH isn't reading this comments section, I'm willing to bet Amy in cubicle 205 or whatever, the person in BH's marketing department who sent Rachel the contract for this sponsorship, is following up on whether this seems like a good return on their investment. And we're letting them know that no, no it isn't. And it won't be any time we see them, because they're not a company we're willing to support. So we ARE doing something that matters here. We're not just beating the dead horse of telling Rachel she was wrong. We are doing something to take on the company directly. We're letting them know that they shouldn't approach Rachel again, that her subscribers won't use their service, and that we're actively willing, en masse, to be vocally negative about their brand. We're doing what we can to cut their advertising off at the knees by denying them spaces in which to advertise, and informing potential clients who may not know about their shady practices. My initial comment on this video was actually a wellness check for Rachel, to let her know that we're not mad at her, that we have faith she'll learn from this, that she's a good person who just made a mistake, and that it's going to be okay. I asked her to be gentle with herself, and to watch out that she doesn't spiral from this. I reminded her that she's a bright spot in all of our lives, we love what she does, and that we'll still be here for her. Because I do think she needs and deserves to hear all of those things right now. And I do think this community is capable of being kind while we hold Rachel accountable for vetting her sponsors, and supporting our girl while we draw a firm line in the sand with an unethical company. Just wanted to throw out there the perspective on why, from a marketing standpoint, the overwhelmingly negative response to this sponsorship is in fact a very, very bad thing for BetterHelp, and we should keep it up any time we see them trying to carve out a space to make themselves look good. Just remember to be conscious of the creator whose platform they used to do it, and whether or not that creator makes a habit of working with/standing by shady companies, or whether they're just a human being who made a mistake.
thanks for your points about what the comments about BetterHelp really do. one of the issues with influencer advertising is that if all people know about a company is that someone they like and respect has worked with them and had nice things to say, it's easy for people to assume that is a full and accurate picture of the company. it's what the brands are paying for, anyway. and i've seen at least one person in the comments here expressing that they've never heard about the issues with betterhelp. it's important for us to discuss these issues not only to make it clear to youtubers that their choice to take sponsorship money from unethical companies has consequences for audience trust, but also to let people who saw the ad know that's not the full story! and yes, maybe betterhelp can see that people are not okay with them and buying some youtuber ads isn't going to fix their PR situation.
@@EmpressEmbeth yes, well pointed out. Still…everyone using this app or ANY app or service based digital platform should know that they agree to their personal data being sold to third parties. Especially the “free to use” platforms and socials but just as well your own internet provider, your insurance companies, medical centers using online communication systems and apps… as soon as you pay attention to the T&C’s you’ll realize that actual privacy and clean drinking water are our most precious commodities nowadays 😭🤯😳. Nuts huh?!
THIS. I'm not mad at her. I hope this is a learning opportunity and a means of calling in and doing better. We simply don't know what we don't know and by having such an overwhelming comment section it inspires dialogue, folks doing their own research (ie my own brother didn't know about the issues with better help till it came up in conversation a couple weeks ago), et cetera. Being a creator, especially one like Rachel who's job is to create, not influence, is hard to make a career out of, especially in the world of demonetization and sponsorships are critical for success. I hope this encourages Rachel to be more choosy about who she works with (and her past sponsorships have all been companies that I've looked into because of wanting to support this channel).
@@rachelmaksy I'm nearing 60, still don't like pink. Be prepared that it may never come.. Be it that I too would call that color you call pink more of a terra or sand color. Maybe it looks different on camera then in real light. I am impressed with your outfit in the video, AMAZING!!! ❤🤗
It occurred to me that if you need a lower stress week, you could always do a reaction to your first sewing video. Newer folks to the channel don't know vintage Rachel who didn't sew 💜
Or even some of the older videos of sewing. 😂 looking back sometimes I’m like “omg you can do that now though rachel!” Whenever she said she can’t or doesn’t know how to do something.
@@crow-jane they've come through bankruptcy, as of May. They are now a private company - no stores closed, or employees laid off. We'll see how they do from here.
As someone may have said already, "those square things" on the bottom of the corset are called "daggets." (For some reason that word was already in my brain, and Google confirmed it!)
Putting it out there that I would absolutely love to see you do an Elizabeth Swan video in the future! Much like Keira Knightly, I will watch you in fun period outfits forever in perpetuity.
Same, as soon as I saw the Pic, I was like welp that thought will be lodged forever. Plus Rachel has done some great Kiera Knightly makeup a few times as well. It'd be so interesting to see her break that dark purple/burgundy dress down.
I agree with all the comments expressing concerns about Better Help. It has been known for YEARS that they are not a reputable place to go to for support. Please remain diligent when seeking professional help (and promoting services) everyone💚
As long as she gets the money I guarantee you she doesn’t care. She also made a video about historical cooking processes and made sure to make the indigenous learning segment put behind her own patreon paywall ❤
@@BibimbapBattlershe already apologized in her instagram account regarding this video in specific, so I guess you either don't know what you're talking about or is just a troll wanting some attention.
Love Rachel and love Redd, but I cannot deny that the choice of sponsor soured my enjoyment of the video. BetterHelp is an awful company and I feel like it should be incredibly well know by now. (Data selling is the big one, but i have also read some sources say they treat the therapists on their app awfully and that they have unlicensed therapists on there)
I totally understand wanting to spread the word about mental health resources but it’d be great for you to do some research about the unethical practices of BetterHelp and consider finding a different resource/company to support. Loved this project regardless!
I will never not stop talking about how good an Anne Bonny and Mary Read movie would be. This fit looks so good!! And honestly, I like the variance of colors for the pink, it feels much more piratey that way with the mismatch.
Hi Rachel, I get that you may not have known, but Betterhelp doesn't use therapists who are actually licensed and skims the personal data of its user-base and sells it to other companies, taking advantage of vulnerable people. There's tons of videos about it from very reputable creators, and they've gotten into legal hot water before. Next time, I ask that you research the company before accepting their sponsorship.
wow! I used betterhelp for a bit and I thought they were just unhelpful and uncomfortable to me because it was a bad fit for me personally, I didn't know they were actually unlicensed! this actually makes me feel better, thanks!
I see comments like this on every RU-vidr I watch that sponsors them. I’m surprised though as one is cinema therapy where one (Jonathon) is a licensed therapist himself so I thought couldn’t be that bad if he’s promoting them 🤔
You have tons of wonderful costumes, cosplays, and outfits that you create. But this one KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK OH MY GOSH!!! The layers, the details, it flows so well. You inspired me to start sewing and creating, it's so fun to see your projects develop over the years and with helpful tips and processes that help me (and probably more subscribers and viewers too!). Very well done.
Scrolling through the comments, already seeing the Better Help comments :( they've been widely exposed for shady practices, abusive and unlicensed therapists and selling user's data. They were canceled years ago and now came back so it honestly suprised me that you accepted their sponsorship and possibly don't know about this, but it happens I guess. Please look into it ❤
@@redlaserfox3988 it appears to be very much just about rebranding hard but only at the surface level. I knew someone who used BH and the 'Therapist' just parroted back what they said with stereotypical jargon.
@@redlaserfox3988 no I'm pretty sure they're still bad which is why everyone is still freaking out. They act like their therapists are licensed now but data selling is still really damn shady. There's a different youtuber that I watch and he has quite a lot of ads for them so I assume it's contractual but again, she accepted that contract. But they probably try to look extra good to possible advertisers so Idk
@@redlaserfox3988you are so vehemently defending someone you don’t fucking know in this comment section and it’s pathetic. she’s a grown adult that chose to support a shitty company that hires non licensed therapists that harm patients. you’re a monster if you think that’s okay.
So glad to see you not stressed out about running out of time with a project. It was daylight when you said everything was done but the reveal! You go girl!
Genuinely the first time ever I skip any of rachels ad segments. Better help are not reliable, they don’t check their “therapists”, they don’t offer consistency, and they sell users data. I really hope this isn’t a long running contract with them
I especially liked the fact that the top and bottom were not the same color. They are both perfect colors for what you’re doing, and I thought it looked great together.
I love your content so much and I love this video. But I’m so sad to see you being sponsored by Better Help. Please, please don’t support this company. Their business practices are misleading and have many complaints and lawsuits.
It sucks that people are still taking Better Help sponsorships, but on every single video I've watched recently that has one, there's a comment like this one calling it out. Very cool of the RU-vid community to not let this get swept under the rug
No idea who "Redd" is, don't care. Your outfit is fantastic. And the skirt color actually ties the whole outfit together with your hair color better than if it were the pink(ish) of the top. Altogether splendid! Good work.
Can we get a video where you fix mistakes/(things you would have wanted to do if you had more time) on projects from previous videos? or maybe even a project divided into multiple video's to give you more time?
Me balancing a blade-out rotary cutter on a precarious pile of stuff on my ironing board 😅 luckily I bought a new one that auto-retracts when you let go of the handle! I got tired of digging my finger into the hole where a lever used to contact before it broke off years ago 😂🙄 new rotary cutter is brought pink and spins more easily; no regrets!
Here's a helpful hint, you can sew the bias tape on the back side to whatever you're sewing. And then fold it over, pin it down, and sew the topside. No hand stitching is required.
I pin thé front side down and stitch in the crease and then when you fold it back over you can’t see any stitching on the front and you only have to hand stitch the inside (which doesn’t have to be perfect cause you can’t see it!)
@@user-de1qj6nl3wsame; I do this for all of my binding and it works great! Still a lot of yardage for a quilt lol, but I watch movies and videos to pass the time.
Rachel I'd really like to echo many of the other comments here asking to please not take a this sponsorship again; they are not a trustworthy company with patient data or health. I also very much care about mental health, and i wish it was more accessible, but BH is not the way to fill this need due to their greed and carelessness. It unfortunately reflects badly on you as well, as if no research was done to vet this company or user experience.
As far as accessing care, this by far does not fix everyone's issues there, but I've found that more and more therapists are offering telehealth through their own offices. I know not everyone has insurance, or good insurance, but for people whose main barriers to care are physical distance, being housebound, agoraphobia, etc, telehealth is available straight from licensed therapists/psychiatric professionals who work in medical facilities. BetterHelp and services like it are not the only option! Literally, I found this out when looking for care for myself and my son, just by doing a search on my insurance database and filtering by professionals who offer telehealth.
The thing that gets me is it's soooo easy to do a quick google -- it literally takes seconds to check if a sponsor is shady. For someone like Rachel who watches other RU-vidrs and is online a lot, it's really hard for me to believe she didn't at least have an inkling BH was bad news. :(
Not watching this particular vid as a way to ask Rachel to not use this sponsor in future. Entirely her choice. I had a traumatic experience with BH, and other folks have explained better than I can why they're not good. So many creators are sponsored by them, I can understand why a lot of folks have a neutral opinion of BH. I realize it's difficult for creators to make enough money, and I'm not mad at Rachel, just at this company. Rachel is a super conscientious person!
I'm really sorry for what you went through. I've also had traumatic experiences with therapy, and I think it's really horrific how many people/companies are willing to prey on such a vulnerable population. Hoping that you're doing all right, and hoping that seeing the overwhelmingly negative response in the comments on this video is validating for you.
Loved seeing another cosplay video! The outfit turned out great, one complaint I have is the sponsorship. I know taking sponsorships allow for more videos, but BetterHelp has so much well earned hate and criticism. Was genuinely a bit disappointed by the ad tbh. Edit: wanted to also say I greatly appreciate the subtitles!
I have to say this is one of my favorite costumes you’ve made (and I’ve been following since waaaaaaay before you started this full time). Such a super fun outfit, and a nice Disney niche nod to pirates 🫡💗🥹 I love love LOVE it!!!
The color of the shirt and the skirt not matching is actually a good thing because when pink/ red fabric gets wet, it darkens up a little bit from the water so it could be like she is busy on the ship at sea. Also, the brighten color could be sun-faded from her long days at sea. So you're right: it is fine and looks great.
Hey I hope you know that I really appreciated how open you were about your journey with online therapy in this video!! Talking about how it works and what was helpful for you deconstructs the stigma so much more than just saying “it’s been helpful for me” or smth along those lines. Thank you for opening up, and I hope you can continue to grow
I've looked into BH and the receipts aren't good, Rachel. Whilst you and other creators may have had positive experiences, this doesn't negate all of the people edit: who've had negative ones* and literal litigation that has occurred due to their poor practices. Please reconsider taking up any more deals with them. As another note, I've seen a few creators defend their sponsorships when their subscribers express their disappointment with things like, "I've had a good experience" and, "everyone just needs to do what works for them" but of course if you are an influencer they wouldn't give you a crap therapist 😅 and the other response is basically a non response---anyone can do what they want but your audience is susceptible because they trust you even though they're not likely to get the same treatment.
What receipts are you speaking of? I would like to know your sources, since recently (within the past 6 months), after the FTC took BetterHelp to court and they were forced to pay $7.8 million in partial refunds (which is, for such a big company, a fairly small amount, which hints that the settlement did not find as much wrong as people make it out), they updated all their security and cannot sell data now, and they are far more affordable and flexible for many people than most other options (in some cases, they are the only option for people). Some of their workers don't like the pay, and fair enough since it is per hour and not session, but the company has a 3.9/5 employee rating on Glassdoor from recent employee ratings when I checked (today 8/16/2024). Did they f*** up in the past? Yes. Did they pay for it and make changes? Also yes. Does that negate what they did? No, but they are allowed to get better and make up for past mistakes. And just saying you know people who have had a bad experience is colloquial cherry-picking, since they rank above 4/5 on several sites with more positive than negative reviews. Here's a source for the breakdown of what happened with the FTC and what BetterHelp now has to do because of the litigation: www.compassitc.com/blog/is-betterhelp-a-scam-unpacking-the-truth And because the internet is what it is, I have to say I honestly have nothing to do with BetterHelp and don't really have a strong opinion either way (although I do support people getting therapy if/when they need it, and for people to have a variety of options). But as a scientist who constantly questions my viewpoint as new data comes in, the stagnancy of opinion and lack of current sources on comments like this is rather telling.
@@killpurakat literally look at their site. they allow ANYONE to sign up as a "therapist", no degree needed, they have sht like "religious" therapists, and a bunch of people with no actual health degree
@@killpurakat if we completely ignore the leaked data (which lol, but okay), the only employee-angle data I have is from a relative who worked for them for two days, before they had to panic quit, since they had assigned them to patients in areas they weren't licensed in. Obviously that is something they asked before they started, and then ignored, and my relative risked breaking the law and losing their license. Once they started talking to other therapists about this it became obvious that's normal and that the therapist grapevine says not to work for them. Which means that what remains in crappy, dangerous therapists. Fortunately the people I know who were exposed to them were stable enough to say "wow this sucks" and move on, but there have been suicidal people left hanging by their "therapists" etc. Nothing is good about this company.
Friends, let me recommend using a large window or glass door to tape print at home patterns! Serves as a lightbox to help you line up the alignment marks! I also choose two adjoining sides (such as the top and right sides) to trim the excess off of every page. That gives me overlap but the whole pattern is visible.
I really like the slightly mismatched tones of the blouse and skirt; I feel like it adds to a more 'authentic' version of clothes being weathered at different speeds, and dye batches not always coming out the same.
Hi Rachel, I didn’t know the character, but I’m a simple woman: I see a lady pirate, I click the thumbnail!😅😂 Your rendition is really nice and the video of the final results looks so cool with the real piraty boat! Also, I was really happy when you put on the pirate music, that song rocks! ❤ And lastly, your dangler fish reference (right after mentioning that you watched people playing video games while sewing) made me think of GeminiTay’s Hermitcraft base from season 10! (Minecraft for the win!) Anyway, love love LOVE your channel! And I definitely have fun when I visit it! ❤
Remember when we all gave creators grief for shilling for the “buy a chunk of land in Scotland” ding-dongs? In comparison with what Betterhelp has done re. patient confidentiality and such, the former seems quaint.
rachel i am a big fan normally and will continue to do so, but i truly believe it’s important as fans to hold our favs accountable. BetterHelp is well-known for being really scummy and terrible within the mental health community. I truly believe that you want the best for your fans and community and so I want you to know that directing people to BetterHelp, especially if they’re in a mental health crisis is risky at best.
if you need mental health resources and NEED virtual therapy options I suggest psychology today, therapy den, open path collective etc. all of these have properly licensed therapists, proper privacy policies, and ultimately are a better option for long-term care.
@@elipartin5764to add onto this, I've found in doing a search through my insurance database that many, many therapists now offer a telehealth option through their own offices! You don't have to use one of these services; you can go directly to therapists covered by your insurance. I know not everybody has insurance, or good insurance, and that just picking someone without some sort of matchmaking service can be daunting. I don't mean to make it sound super easy, or be insensitive to people's struggles to find care (I've also had a really hard time finding good therapy, and have had traumatic experiences with therapy). I just want to put out there that telehealth just straight through therapists' offices is now an option! So if physical distance, not being able to find providers in your area who specialize in your needs, being housebound, etc is what's driving you to BetterHelp and services like them, please know you have other options!
Better Help. Like... the guys that leaked all those people's personal info and is still unaccounted for it as we speak? Rachel, plz research your sponsors... :c
Rachel dearest, you need to save your back before it's too late. Please get yourself a table to cut on.❤ My wish for you is that you can still sew when you're my age, (if you wanted to), and not have a bad back prevent you from doing something you love.❤ Because you are such an inspiration, I am 4 projects into a batch of 6 new wardrobe pieces, and I haven't sewn in more than 20 years. It's been hell....but I'm in love with the results😂. So keep up the great work and take care of yourself.❤
I really love this video and I fully understand getting your bag in this capitalist hellscape. But betterhelp is such a problematic company that engages in really scammy practices. If there's a better company or a different company that could sponsor you in other videos that would be great
I'm so blown away by the result. I'm used to finding the result amazing, but this time I had to pause to let my jaw drop. I had never even heard of Redd before
I LOST IT... at the skirt off shorts/socks combo LMAOOO. I also do not know who Redd is but this was so fun and I love that you make stuff outta trash it's the besttttt So proud of you for reading comments and taking in the feedback and learning. We know you care so much about who you work with, and I am just so proud of you for your response though I know it's limited due to contracts and stuff.
Firstly, those dangly things are called a chatelaine. They were the common way to carry things for hundreds of years, and could be quite decorative and beautiful, or very plain and utilitarian. I use one myself for my everyday-carry items so i don't have to carry a bag, I think making one would make for a great video... some were on chains, some ribbons cord or fabric. Many modern quilters still use a version just while sewing to keep notions near to hand. Secondly, eyelets with cut fabric are hard to make neat, and are not very strong. It's actually much easier to bind hole made with an awl, and much much stronger and more durable; particularly on an eyelet that will be under tension from lacing. Thirdly, if you're after a red headed lady pirate, then Geena Davis' Morgan Adams from Cutthroat Island is the character for you!!! Awesome movie, i don't care how much it flopped. Fourthly; we love you, even if we don't much care for Better Help. Hang in there.
The sound I just made when the notification for this came across my screen. My FAVORITE RIDE IN THE WORLD. I love when one of my fav pirates is brought to life!
Pros: Holy shit that looks amazing! I think the color differences just add to the look, make it more hand crafted by someone who wouldn't have had a chance to visit the shops for fabric - much more pirate like that way. Plus the belts and accessories look fantastic! Con: Yes it stings but it's worth looking into the complaints about Better Help (We know you wouldn't have agreed if you knew about their issues earlier)- more and more creators are ditching them as more and more evidence of everything from totally untrained "therapists" to selling private information surfaces. Hope you have a blast at Dragon Con! If you like urban fantasy, atlantis and tarot cards one of my very favorite authors is usually there - KD Edwards does The Tarot Sequence and both the book and the audiobook are fantastic if you enjoy that kind of vibe!
i love the volume the petticoat layers provide, i think its ok the skirt isn't the exact color of the blouse, it adds interest and the tones don't clash. it looks like Redd cobbled together different outfit pieces she could find to fit her color scheme! which tells us about her character-she tries to cultivate a certain blood-red, striking image of herself but doesn't have the means to be matchy-matchy.I also think it's ok the accessory pieces aren't 100 percent ride accurate, i think rather than a recreation your version looks like a live action movie costume like the different textures and all the layers, it gives the overall effect a visual richness that keeps it from looking cheap and costume-y
20:08 If someone made a pirate movie with in-lesbians-with-each-other Anne Bonny and Mary Read as the main characters I would drop *everything* just to watch it
I *know* who this character is, and I STILL kept looking at the red hair and going "Amy Pond as a pirate" 😂 This costume looks wonderful, I was so excited to see it on your Instagram!
Chiming in with another anti better help comment, they've been caught selling customer data, charging for services not received, and linking people with unlicensed 'therapists'. I'm guessing you wouldn't have accepted the spon if you knew, but disappointing to see the research wasn't done beforehand.
Just as a note: a lot of RU-vidr’s sign up contacts way in advance, so this could’ve been a legal obligation way before the info came out and she couldn’t break the contract.
@@LynnHermione welp I can see some folks here just wanna be a bit rude, I’ll go ahead and leave. My comment still stands; I do know YTs who have sponsorships booked out a year and a half in advance, so it’s not impossible. Choose kindness in all your actions and create a better world, even when expressing disappointment. May you all have a good week. 💖
I love Rachel and I've been following her for years now, so the Better Help sponsorship is especially disappointing. I really want to convince myself that she just didn't know, but it's quite known that they're trash and dangerous and if she didn't hear about it it's also quite superficial to not do some research on the companies you're collaborating with. It's one of the first results that pop out when googling them. Please do something and say something about it because if you really care about mental health like you mentioned, you should also protect your audience from people like these. They are NOT therapist or professionals. They have NO preparation or degrees in psychology. They have leaked data and don't keep the information you shared confidential.
Love the cosplay but please reconsider taking this sponsor as they are sketchy at best and selling peoples data illegally at worst. I generally do not keep watching creators that continually support better help so I really hope you will reconsider.
During the reveal my son (4 years old) looked over, so i pointed at the screen and said "Look! She made that, isnt it cool?" and then he looked me straight in the eyes and said "She made a pirateship!?" ... like no kiddo she made a dress 😂

@@ariannebrodeur yes, but some of it is just that it's unregulated "psychological" help that can be extremely damaging to a person. Psychology is a tricky business, and not every one with a diploma is fit to do it, a bad "psychologist" can legitimately be traumatizing. So while *some* scandals have been addressed, the root issue has not, and I'm unsure if it's even possible.
@@ariannebrodeur They were fined for selling personal health information, that doesn't guarantee they changed fully. The other things like hiring non credentialed people and not paying people what they are worth for the complete lack of boundaries that they encourage has not.
It looks fab. All those dif colors just go together like a choreographed gathering look. Great job. On future projects, just an idea, I used to do Civil War civilian reenacting, all those petticoat, hoopskirt and skirt layers at the waist could be bunchy. If you create a drop yoke for the petticoat underneath and a soft waistband, its a bit flatter. Also, directional or wide pleating instead of gathering can create a flatter profile as well around the waist and hips. Just some well used ideas.

heya rachel i absolutely loved this video and seeing you make something you're genuinely happy and proud of!!! you looked gorg! a word about your sponsor, though, as others have also mentioned... betterhelp is, ethically, a really terrible company that went quiet for a while after being exposed for not using licensed therapists and selling client data. they are not responsible with peoples mental health and should not be pushed as a reliable therapy company. i think especially with serious medical branding it'd be good to do more research on them before accepting a sponsorship. i was surprised because i've seen you talk on your instagram stories about other youtubers not researching the brands they accept sponsorships from and saying it's something you always do, but in that case where has this betterhelp sponsorship come from? still love and respect you, just was shocked to see it here and think you should decline sponsorships from them in the future xx
I love all your costumes and videos but something about this one and especially the reveal tingled that little part of my brain that wanted to be a pirate when I grew up and never really got over it...
Rachel, I lOVE your Redd costume, you make a beautiful lady pirate! Watching you reminds me of putting together Renaissance Faire costumes for my teen daughters & their friends. We'd rush over to Goodwill, grab clothing pieces similar to the character, then cut up, hand-sew or hot glue seams and accessories. I've been known to staple fabric together (sewing machines are the work of the devil). Thank you very, very much for all the laughter, fun, conversation and creativity you bring to your projects - you give much happiness and fun to your viewers!
