Have you ever wanted your own beautiful Park Like setting in the woods with huge towering oak trees and some shade to hang out beneath them? Well then today's full length video project episode is for you! Or if you just like watching an excavator work, and accomplishing something then I think you'll enjoy todays episode. This was on a recent Sunday here at our new 575 Acre Southern Missouri Ozarks farm. Sharon has a pretty high stress job, even though she does work from home, so she was wanting a 'de stressing' zone that was very close to the house that she could come out to for a lunch break or de stressing break to sit under the towering oak trees and get some shade and a nice breeze. Well, we have the towering oak trees but the woods are all overgrown with about 10 years of knarly underbrush that you could not even walk through no matter how hard you tried. So for today's weekend project, which is Part 1 I broke out my bobcat e42 r2 series mini excavator and did the actual clearing part of her new park like front yard setting. This kind of land clearing and brush clearing can be kind of tedius with a mini excavator but it is much better than using a mulcher unit as I eliminate all of the stumps and stobs that always plaque landowners later on after using a mulching drum or mulching head on a skid steer. Stay tuned for the next episode as I had to remove the new mountains of brush, in many piles just so that we could 'see' the new park like setting nestled beneath the beautiful towering oak trees! Thanks for joining us we hope to catch you on a future Missouri Modern Homestead episode!
Let me know in the comments if you enjoy this kind of video format (a bit longer and not so fast flowing, but you get to take in the actual daily work project) or if it is just not the right format for you. We appreciate hearing your feedback. Thanks for joining us today and if you are new to our channels, I think you might enjoy some of our Missouri home and land projects as we are knocking them down every single day since we have now moved our Modern Homestead over to Southern Missouri. Very cool Joe what’s your experience with oaks and root disturbance issues ? I’ve seen some mature oaks die after having thier roots disturbed took a couple of years but they all died . Good vid thanks !

I have not noticed any oaks killed from something like this. Now the new clearings, if they ripped a large oak root, then yeah it can start to kill the tree. Half of it might die off the first year and then downhill from there!! Thanks

Should have pulled the building materials out and brush mowed around the trees. Never dig around oak trees.

Do you see snakes in the brush?

Often yes but in this case we did not. But we are on the cusp of cold fall weather now!

That tree looks healthy, a wound like that shouldn't really be any bother to it, I've seen worse in local parks that are still going strong and they're easily 150, maybe 200 years old.

When my wife and I flew up from Florida to see the property here in Missouri and it rained both times we came. The first time the one owner was still here which can throw a person off. Especially when she was told not to be there. The next day we came she and her kids were gone. We walked inside the house and took measurements on everything. I walked out and around the buildings and behind the big building was full of junk, like fence materials and old plastic barrels and other stuff. There were 3 boats out in the one pasture whih the previous day told her she would need to get rid of. She said something and I said we can always change our minds. The day we had arrived they had taken the boats out because our realtor had said so and he said it was quite comical watching them. After moving in we had a problem with the internet which apparently she didn't know what she had, which was something that didn't work correctly. That was another pain because trying to get someone here to fix it. It took 3 guys to figure out what was wrong. Our house is paid off and we were looking at other houses and frankly neither one of us would really do that because the houses we see online are not even as nice as this place for more money. A month after moving in we got several roll offs to get rid of the junk that had accumulated over all the owners.

Yeah seems like junk can have a negative effect on buyers for sure. But if you can see past the ugly you might find a nice treasure!!

The next door neighbor built an elaborate treehouse for his little kids, now they can see over the fence into my backyard, so I can no longer sit comfortably on my deck and drink my morning coffee!!! 😂. Can I rent you and your excavator for a job over here at my neighbor’s house? PS - That treehouse is loaded with toys, extra smashing fun for you!!!
