QT & co. converted several blocks on Hollywood Blvd into 1969 for #onceuponatimeinhollywood and were kind enough to invite us neighborhood folks to watch on. With the movie releasing soon, I thought I'd slap together what footage I gathered for your viewing pleasure. Music by the Daily Pravda.

The best part of this movie is that, for nearly three hours, you're transported to 1969.

I agree. After watching the movie I was like, how did they do that? Every shot was 1969 including wide shots of freeways.

Except to go through all that and flubbed the ending. And get that the Manson family were hippies wrong.They were not. They were just a right-wing racist cult and crooks.
@carlchilders9538
@carlchilders9538 5 лет назад
@@bowtie3 I don't think so. Right wingers in 1969 had crew cuts and wore ties. The Manson family were long-haired, tie-dye wearing, dumpster-diving stoners with contempt for authority and affluence. They were the opposite of right wing.

@Joe town I couldn't agree any more. Males and females assumed roles more aligned with the actual laws of nature rather than this feminist nonsense encouraging females to have big mouths leaving many men never to marry. Also, look at all the great muscle cars that were produced in 1969. Today, guys think their bad-ass driving in tiny little electric cars. Please, take me back to 1969!!!!

The amount of effort that went into this film is mind blowing. I'm going to reward this effort by seeing it over and over again while it's in the theaters and then buying the DVD. And the amazing thing is after having seen OUATIH four times now, the boulevard set only shows up in about three or four brief, day and night driving scenes. Nonetheless, the QT spared very little and essentially got every period detail exact. And not surprisingly, the finished movie is quite spectacular.

One mistake I did discover when I saw the film on Friday AM.... when Sharon (Margot) enters the theatre in Westwood to see her film "The Wrecking Crew", the Ann-Margret film "CC & Company" is playing on the screen. I'm friends with Ann-Margret, and know her films quite well... in fact, this film was written by her husband, Roger Smith. The premiere date for "CC" was October 14, 1970, in New York City. The actual filming of "CC & Company" began on April 13, 1970. However, the time period in "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" was from February, 1969 through August 9, 1969... more than a year before the film was released to the public.

This is the reality of film making folks. Standing around for hours & when you finally film it's over in seconds. "hurry up or wait" is the film industry's moto. An average of 4 directions of shots per scene & an average of 3 to 4 takes per shot for the Director & Editor to mull over in the editing room. Frequent late night shoots. 11 pm to 5 am, then the city wants their street back so it doesn't effect the morning commute.

Quentin doesn't go down the conventional route of filming every scene from multiple angles. He doesn't even decide which angles he wants until he gets onto the set that day. There are many occasions when he'll decide on just one set-up for a scene and stick to that.

@Ray Lopez I turned 9 in October of '69. I watched HK before going to school in the morning. I also watched Fright Night with Seymour. But, I didn't think that show began until 1970, but I could be wrong.

Check out his Jacket too. That was made for the crew on Basterds and it has ‘Inglorious Basterds’ in red across the back.

Wow, it amazes me to actually see how much people are involved to film on location, and how it all moves through many people and responsibilities. All the machinery and design of the place, it seems interesting. I watched Romeo and Juliette/ Franco Zeffirelli so many times as a child and when I grew up I watched it again. There is something that captivates my attention about movies with rich images and good acting, I guess that there is much more involved in movies than I realize. Great seeing about this movie, it informs a lot. EK

It was Raw & Clean how this Movie was Made, I Moved to L.A. 50 Years Ago in September 69, & this is what it was Like, the RTD Busses (Now Metro), No Red Line Train Subway then Running Under Hollywood Blvd, No Subway or Light Rail Period in L.A. or Hollywood! It Brought Old Memories Like the Ad's for 93 KHJ (Boss Radio), Radio King of L.A. at the Time, & it's then Sister T.V. Station KHJ Channel 9, (Now KCAL 9, Now Owned by CBS) the Ad's with Honey West on The RTD Busses, it Brought A Lot Of Memories when I Viewed Hollywood Blvd as a 8 Year Old, 50 Years Later it has Changed in Hollywood, some Places are still there. Even the LAPD Cruisers the 63 Ford Customs were Phased Out by 67 or 68, at that time LAPD for 69 Drove Plymouth Belvedere's, as you Saw in Adam 12.
