Amazing work, to think Liam sequenced and programmed all of this back in the day using the Roland W30 and some samplers!! Also worth noting those Xylophone sounds are a preset on the Roland U220, you just need to pitch it up a couple of octaves and you get the exact sound. The strings are also from the U220 with a load of chorus chucked on too. Well done man, well constructed!!
You even recreated that split second ‘P’ of the ‘pay’ @ 6:56 (bar 181) that’s in the original, where the sample extends slightly into the next loop before it cuts. 👏
Excellent job! I really like that you paid attention to all the details like the one at 6:56 where the Ultramagnetic MCs sample leaves an "eeh" at the end. I always thought this was made by accident in the original version 😁
On Roland W30 (which Liam used at the time) it was possible to loop a sample in a way that it would play back and forth, so I guess it was indeed made by accident. Liam must've pressed a key a bit too long. Basically this 'eeh' is the word 'attention' played backwards.
I wonder... What was passing through the Liam's mind when he create one of the most iconic music of electronic music ? Seeing this video, i see how creative he is. I would never thought using samples like this. What's the mind set, the mind process to get til this? Big up for the recreation! It's like the same process. Imagination, attention and knowledge. You are the real mvp!
Also, what amazes me with not only Liam but many of these people is the sheer breadth of their music appreciation. Liam, as an example, sources samples from so many distant places in music both in time and genre. Mind boggling. It makes me realise my eclectic taste is actually fairly narrow!!

Especially the eqing, you got that spot on. The mix is basically exact. If you can do Coki - Goblin, then I will rate you as the best engineer that's ever done this. You'd have to rewire Reason.
Liam used the loop from Dance Hall Dangerous. He tends to use the same sample source for several tracks. In this case he used it for Break & Enter, No Good, Out of Space and Gabba. The Dance Hall Dangerous has this weird shaking noise in the background which the Shamen loop doesn’t have.
Hey i love your channel, and have seen all of the prodigy videos. Theyre mint mate, just wondered how you get the breakbeats to sound like that. I make music and would love to make tunes like the prodigy but can't get the drums right, any tips?
kira Thank you, bro! Your feedback means a lot to me :) The only piece of advice I can give about the drums is that you need to find a good sounding breakbeat loop and emulate a hardware sampler’s quality (less high frequencies and saturated mids). As you might’ve noticed, Liam mostly used sampled loops from ‘91-93 breakbeat tunes, so if you listen to a lot of that old stuff, you’re good to go.

Подскажи пожалуйста, я знаю что в аблетоне с помощью родного тюнера можно визуально легко подогнать семпл под нужную тональность, только вот он не работает на семплах с битами и перкусией.. как ты подгоняешь такие сэмплы так тонко вплоть до десятых центов детюна, чтобы ложились в микс? Неужели чисто на слух?
Илья Губарев Тюнер нужен для настройки звуков с более-менее стабильной высотой тона (гитара, фортепьяно и т.д.). Остальные семплы подгоняются по питчу только на слух.
Илья Губарев Но вообще, чтобы уж сэмпл был прямо тютелька в тютельку, нужно на одну дорожку положить оригинал, а на другую сэмпл. У сэмпла нужно крутить питч до тех пор, пока оригинал и сэмпл тупо не сойдутся по волне. Если они еще и взаимовычитаться начнут, то вообще красота.
вообще на дорожку ставишь спектр и выбираешь режим "ноты", а если вообще никак, то бэндпассом попытайся вырезать нужные частоты и тогда уже смотри на спектр
@@skrillboy5163 Ну да, практически. Но в старых записях питч обычно немного плавает, поэтому идеально совместить 1 в 1 вряд ли получится. Я обычно выбираю два каких-нибудь пика в начале и конце сэмпла и подгоняю так, чтобы они сошлись.
It took me almost 4 years to find all the original samples used by Liam Howlett and about a month to arrange everything properly. My first remake of this track came out in late 2015 but it sounded really weak.
@@CanyonHill IDK, maybe it'll be more precise. Otherwise I heard that it simply cutting off one side instead of using panning law like on consoles or something. But it is unnecessary as far as I can see here with the result. Everything is alright.
jinxy The xylophone originally comes from Roland U-220, but I sampled an oneshot from Celestial Bodies Mix. The strings were recreated manually using some samples and a VST.
Canyon Hill,у меня вопросик есть.Возможно ли накрутить этот Lead,что у тебя в римейке.Вроде знаю что для синтеза нужен синус,но дальше дела не идёт.Тем более в оригинале слышно что у него другая тональность.
Если речь про колокольчик, то в принципе его накрутить очень легко. Достаточно взять два осцилятора, оба с синусоидами. Я не помню точно, какая у них разница по тональности (что-то около полутора октав), но это можно посмотреть в спектроанализаторе - там будет четко видно два пика. Плюс добавить самому звуку немного атаки. Тональность у трека задрана в пределах полутона, видимо, потому, что Лиэм питчил все звуки не под 440 Гц, а под какой-то референс. Например, под сэмпл из Макса Ромео или что-то другое.
Роман Янушевский Не думаю, что он потратил много времени. У меня много времени ушло именно на поиски сэмплов-оригиналов, а Лиэм, возможно, трек за неделю написал. Ему было проще - он руководствовался принципом «подходит - не подходит» и использовал те сэмплы, которые хорошо ложились в трек.
